With this transmission it is very important to change the oil filter at the specified intervals. Otherwise, carbon and other particulates from the engine can score the seals in the converter and leakage will ensue. This system worked, but seals on the converter were a problem.
I don’t know if anybody still watches these but I’m in desperate need of some help, i have a ‘52 imperial with 70,000 original miles on everything. I mean all original interior down to every nut and bolt being stock from Chrysler, however the transmission is now definitely starting to go on me. Don’t know if anybody is able for me to reach out to thanks.

Torque Converter driven by *engine oil* AND a Clutch, in the same Transmission!!! 😱😱😱😵😵
This could not be one of their better ideas....
Never heard of it before. It sounds like it didn't stick around long.
I have this system in my 53 Chrysler. It works but shure has the tendency to leak !
Tech was late because he was getting a pack of Chesterfields out the cigarette machine
With no filters...of course
Lol
Plymouth used a similar setup called “Hy-Drive”.
I can dig it!
