Welcome to morocco sister. Morocco is safe. The only downside you need to be aware of is. That don’t trust every man in the street proposing to show you around even if they say it’s for free. Because at the end they may ask for money. Have fun 😁
Morocco is the safest country , anywhere you go , but as in any country , there are psychopaths , dunked , drugs users , etc but no worries in Morocco , Amazigh people are the sweetest and they love foreigners
As a Moroccan man,who travels a lot in Europe, the us and asia, I can say that a lot of major capitals can feel and be dangerous, not only for women but for everyone. People often assume that countries in the South are very dangerous, but this is generally a misconception. Annoying men who harass women exist everywhere; in fact, the club and drinking culture is more prominent in the West and northern countries than in Morocco or those with Amazigh/Arab-Muslim cultures. While certain areas in Casablanca at night can be uncomfortable for women, it doesn't mean that all of Morocco is unsafe for solo female travelers.
Thanks for your comment, I agree with that - there's definitely harassment in Europe - that's where I've experienced it most. This video aims to challenge this misconception and provide first-hand advice to solo female travellers. It is important that we do research everywhere we go, as the world in general is more dangerous for women than men, unfortunately. But I felt very safe in Tangier.
@@ClairesFootsteps Sadly the World is not only dangerous for women, but hard too, but that's another topic. If you go to Marrakech, keep a fresh and cold bottle of water with you, the last time i took my friends from England to Marrakech, 2 of them fainted cause of the heat then they all fainted of love to the city hhhh. Have a safe and great time in Morocco and anywhere you go! The video was great.
i was in europe last summer, visited 12 countries and morocco way safer than belgium, germany, netherland, czech, slovakia etc because there are police everywhere and in europe it's rare to meet them 😀 and when you see all those illegal immigrants there etc you can wonder what if someone attacks you there, i mean there are camera etc but the way morocco are using the police force is outstanding
😅 haha This brand of mineral water bottle is so much stronger than other brands because it is much more carbonated. The locals consumed it after a heavy meal like beef tagine. but don't worry even it has a strong taste 🙂
I have never considered making a video about how unsafe Britain is. This concept stems from a Western colonialist mindset. I’ve lived in London, UK, for many decades, and believe me, it’s not safe here for almost anyone. Daily stabbings occur, and in Northern England, it’s even more dangerous for people with brown or black skin, or for Muslims. There were even full-blown riots recently. It’s typical for some Western TH-camrs to criticize other countries while ignoring what’s happening in their own. These TH-camrs often carry a chip on their shoulder, a moral relic of their colonial past, and their unconscious biases come into play. This attitude somehow gives their critiques a sense of authority, in a condescending way. But I still give you credit for challenging your preconceived ideas and making the effort to travel to the wonderful country of Morocco to create a 'feel-good' video. Which country will you judge next? I’d be interested to see.
Hello, that was the point of this video! I wanted to challenge that preconception and show what it's really like, not to judge. However, it's also important to make the distinction of the difference between travelling as a male/ couple and travelling as a solo female. Anywhere in the world, safety as a solo female can be a completely different experience and I personally research safety for every country + city as a solo female before I visit. I've spoken often about how my worst experience as a solo female was in Vienna. But videos like this aim to help other people with their research. I grew up in London and agree that in many ways, it's less safe than Morocco. The horrific riots last month made me absolutely ashamed to be British. As a Brit, I want to stand for inclusivity and safety for all who visit or live here. I spoke about them a lot on my Instagram stories, and all over my blog you'll see me mentioning that I consider cities and countries all over the world to be safer than London. So in all honesty I agree with you, just please don't think that this video is judging or criticizing at all because that's not the intention! And trust me, I do not ignore what's happening in my own country.
@@ClairesFootsteps Thank you, Claire, for your thoughtful reply. Would you believe that women and children in Morocco face greater threats from sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and pedophilia at the hands of foreign visitors, including Westerners? If you look into it, you’ll find that many offenders come from outside Morocco. Wouldn't you agree that those with bad intentions often travel to places like Morocco, Thailand, or other vulnerable regions to exploit women and children? I also wanted to highlight how Western propaganda tends to distort facts about other cultures. Historically, some of the most oppressive environments for women have been in Europe and America, often under the Christian Church, as seen with events like the witch hunts. More recently, the tragic case of Sarah Everard's murder by police officer Wayne Couzens highlights the dangers women face even in so-called "safe" Western societies. The stigma placed on Islamic countries like Morocco is powerful, but often misleading. I would encourage you to reconsider the preconceived ideas your society may have instilled. Many European women and men love living in Morocco once they learn how things truly are. Moroccan men, while sometimes seen as intimidating or assertive, are often law-abiding and God-fearing. If you're open to it, I'd be happy to recommend a few books that could provide a more nuanced perspective on this issue. Please know that really appreciate your concern and I just wanted to make few points to put things in context. (I loved the video by the way)
Thanks for your reply too! Please do recommend some further reading. Totally open to learning more. Yes, some of the events in the UK have been awful and I definitely don't always feel safe here. It's good to hear your comments and important that we talk about these things more for sure.
Thieves don't, but of course some places are less safe for women. I can tell you that I've visited countries (I'm not taking about Morocco) where I've walked down a street on my own and have constant catcalling, but then walked with my partner and we've been met with just friendliness.
Here is a UK Breaking News for you: "Body found in search for missing artist Sarah Cunningham, 31 in London England, last seen in Camden". How safe your country is you said ?
I never said my country was more safe than others, in fact I constantly talk about safety issues in London, I've said in videos that the cities I've felt least safe in are Vienna and Paris. As a solo female traveller, I look at the safety of EVERYWHERE I go, and in this video I talk about how I found Tangier to be very safe.

Morocco is a safer country, even safer than Europe or the USA. Moroccans are kind and non-racist, welcoming tourists regardless of their background. @@ClairesFootsteps Tangier, the city you visited, has been home to prominent figures like the American author and composer Paul Frederic Bowles, who wrote about it in his works, along with many others too numerous to list. The security and safety issues in Europe and America are even more alarming, with many criminal organizations present. In the west, women continue to be kidnapped, forced into drug addiction, and exploited as unpaid sex workers (modern slave trade). While no country is entirely safe, some are certainly safer than others. A Moroccan proverb says : "there is no safety even in the land of safety" Everywhere always take the necessary safety measures. The security and safety issues in Europe and America are even more alarming, with many criminal organizations present.
In the west, women continue to be kidnapped, forced into drug addiction, and exploited as unpaid sex workers (modern slave trade).
While no country is entirely safe, some are certainly safer than others.
A Moroccan proverb says :
"there is no safety even in the land of safety"
Everywhere always take the necessary safety measures.
I encourage you to visit other cities in Morocco to discover the many facets of our ancient kingdom.
Wishing you good luck and strength.
God bless you bless America 🇺🇸 bless Morocco 🇲🇦🇺🇸🇲🇦🇺🇸🇲🇦🇺🇸🇲🇦
Thanks but I'm British 🙂
