  • Why do parent birds pluck their baby's feathers?
There could be many reasons behind it. but It mainly depends on when it occurs and at what age.In most cases, the reason why the parents begin to pluck their babies feathers is because they are attempting to get the baby to leave the nest box so that they can restart their breeding activities with a new clutch of babies. It really is that simple. The feather plucking generally occurs when the babies are left in the nest box for more than 4 weeks but not always.

My cockatiel hen started plucking her babies a couple of days ago. They are around the same age as the baby in this video. I want to keep the hen away, and let the father finish raising them, but my mother doesn't let me. She insists that just father can't feed 4 babies alone and keeps the hen in the nest. I don't know what to do. We are fighting every day.

U have to separate those babies from parents, And start handfeeding.
Because they are on breeding mood now. THATS why they plucked babies feathers.

That is a great tip. I have a 1 1/2 year old female budgie ans she started plucking her neck feathers. I took her to the avian vet who gave me 3 different tpye of medicine I have ginen her 3 times a day without any success. It only got worse. If I can find an aloe Vera plant, I will definitely try this. Seems to be a more effective and gentle way of treatment. Hopefully it will work.
Can an aloe vera gel which is sold in drug stores also be used? I am a bit concerned that there might be other things mixed withe the gel and I do not want to risk causing more harm than good.

@@ahasanulnahidrejon4040 thank You I ordered an Aloe Vera plant and will use the treatment as you explained in your video. Thank you so much. I never like Pharma medicine. Natural plants and ingredients are the best for humans and animals 👍

Yesterday, I noticed that one of the 5 babies has blood spots on the skin and today I hear that the baby is kind of crying and saw the fathers beak with the small feather..so should I get all the babies or just seperate the one that he is plucking? Thank you
