Serbs like most nations on the planet also have a dark history; The recent 90s Yugo wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo left a negative legacy which makes them targets of haters. Serbia is very much divided as a country over these wars, not to mention various Serbs within the Balkans who don't always share the same ideology. The wars them selves were a tragedy not just for the brotherly nations Serbs fought against, but for various Serb groups who in some cases became displaced as a result.
I know many Serbs who are very good, friendly, helpfull people with very good taste for humor. But when they start to talk about nationalities or history it just doesnt make sense. I'm Croatian. Alot of my friends are Serbs. Nicest most hospitable people. Never had a problem with them. However, we are definitely better off ass separate countries (except in sports).

In general, Serbia had the largest number of victims and what the Serbs did to others, others did the same to them. It was a war and a terrible time for all people from these countries! It's sad to even remember those times and it's not pleasant to talk about that topic here.
You can easily check and what you'll find is that the Yugoslav Partisans were ethnically diverse and not only Serbs fought for them; Croats, Bosniaks, Montenegrins, Slovenes and Macedonians were also Partisans. Croatia was divided between the Italians, Hungarians and Germans too, so what's your point? Both Croats and Serbs fought bravely for the Partisans against the Nazis and in large numbers. As a Serbian, a lot of people (mainly Americans) tend to dislike us because of our strong relationship with Russia and I think a few other things which I’m not really sure about. A lot of times people will call me a Putin worshipper or war criminal or something along the lines of being Russian. @@-erijonarexhepi31 You are right ofcource. Serbs like most nations on the planet also have a dark history; The recent 90s Yugo wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo left a negative legacy which makes them targets of haters.
Serbia is very much divided as a country over these wars, not to mention various Serbs within the Balkans who don't always share the same ideology. The wars them selves were a tragedy not just for the brotherly nations Serbs fought against, but for various Serb groups who in some cases became displaced as a result.
I know many Serbs who are very good, friendly, helpfull people with very good taste for humor. But when they start to talk about nationalities or history it just doesnt make sense. Other nations always get a feeling of inferiority.
One more interesting fact: in medieval times Serbia and Croatia were always alies. All the problems started when they joined to one state.

In general, Serbia had the largest number of victims and what the Serbs did to others, others did the same to them. It was a war and a terrible time for all people from these countries! It's sad to even remember those times and it's not pleasant to talk about that topic here.

Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia, of course it would be a military target.
Some Croats welcomed the Germans as liberators because of how the Serbian Monarchy dictatorship treated Croatia in the interwar years (Stjepan Radić etc).
The same scenario happened when the Germans entered Ukraine, the Baltic States, Eastern Poland and parts of Russia. They were welcomed as liberators at first, but attitudes later changed.
Only a couple of months after "welcoming the Germans with flowers", Croat Partisans in Sisak (50km from Zagreb) started the first anti-Fascist uprising in all of Yugoslavia against the NDH. So clearly the popularity of the Ustaše wained very quickly.

I am born and raised Dutch from Turkish origin. I have been many times in Serbia. Very kind people . I respect Christianity and i always found that Serb and Turkish customs are alike. We must forget the past and live and let live. We al must say no to extremism, fundemantilsm, ultra-nationalism, capitalism and stuff.

They did a lot of war crimes through there history. Not just the war crimes in the 90ths but also from 1900s.
For example they glorify puplicly the genrels who gave the command for the massacred 8.000 of people in a few days in bosnia srbrenica.
But to be fair i think a big portion of the serbians are not ultra nationalist but just normal balkan people who are welcoming and familiar people.

It’s usually the opposite Serbians often think they deserve sovereignty but Kosovo doesn’t.
You can’t compare Serbia to Kosovo and Metohija. Saying Serbia doesn’t deserve sovereignty is like saying Albania doesn’t deserve Sovereignty. Kosovo can be compared to Baskia not Serbia.

Everyone from Balkan is not the same. It is easy to hear the difference between an albanian speaker and a bulgarian speaker. One can also see that they are different ethnicities. I'm from Sweden and have visited Serbia , great food and great people just like the rest of the Balkans.
