I’m playing bass for the first time and I have reached lesson 7 I’m progressing very well and enjoying every lesson. I replay the lessons over and over and this has helped with my progress. Your sessions have been the best on TH-cam with no frills just patient straight forward teaching which I appreciate
The clear and patient way that you explain this information is wonderful. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
I really appreciate the effort put into making these lessons, thank you!
Thanks!
Keep them coming✌. Thanks Rich.
I'll do my best. Thanks for watching!
Those 2 chords...amazingly beautiful! Great lesson btw.
The clarity you teach with is a talent and skill of its own ! combined with your musical talent, we all benefit from every sound you make; talking or from instrument. Thank you Mr Brown!
Hey man, I’m just jumping in to your most recent video in case you might read this - I just wanted to say thanks. I’ve been playing for 20 years, but am coming back to playing after a hiatus of about 7 years. I’ve been trying to re-learn my theory and these are BY MILES the best bass-centric theory lesson on the internet. Sincerely appreciate your work, I get a lot out of it and you seem like a guy I’d be happy to hang with nonetheless.
Thank you so much for these very kind words. I appreciate you tuning in. All the best.
@@richbrownbass you earned ‘em my friend!
Indeed. Thank you.

What area? I’m in Rusholme.
Mr. Brown.... thank you for stopping by.... Even though I've been picking on this bass for a while... without the aid of your lessons, I really appreciate you message . Your lessons are greatly appreciated and its need to be said out loud.... Please understand that growing up the "Brownstone ' wasn't available.... So I'm hear today to thank you for helping me.... your the best..
Perfect, thanks 😊
Am getting these lesson Best channel online for me the chords GM7 chords and the CM 7 chords sounded so nice over the Inversons
I find your lessons very helpfull and well delivered. I did 3 years music theory at school (52yrs ago) and played bass by ear in my teens. I picked the bass back up about 5 yrs ago, initially playing by ear again but with bits of information from YT etc. Getting frustrated trying to match up half remembered theory with what I've gleaned "self teaching". Your videos are brilliant at tying these things together and making sense of them. There's lots of little light bulb moments in your lessons for me, as well as lots of technique tips too. Thank you so much!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also I have subscribed to the channel ❤😊
Great lessons. Learning the shapes and appreciating their importance. Thank you.
Another Gold Star ⭐️Lesson Mr. Rich!
I want to let you know that I am enjoying your lessons and getting so much out of them. Thank you for creating these videos and being such an amazing instructor!
I'm call (watching) from Istanbul. you're so good 🎸
I've been playing on and off for a number of years, but haven't progressed beyond learning some bass lines. These are, hands down, the best lessons I've found. The pace matches the content really well, I'm enjoying the narrative between lessons and I feel like I'm learning and developing with every one. The best thing for me is your delivery. Thanks for putting this series together, it's clear a lot of thought goes into it.
Another great lesson, Rich! 🙌
Lessons are going well! I’m using your channel and a lesson for 30 mins a week. I get lots of varied practice and even on busy work days I still practice the G major and some Triads. Thank you for your content. 🙂↕️
Hi Rich, Because you asked I will respond. And to encourage you to keep going exactly as you are. The pace is perfect for myself as a beginner. And I am learning, yippee!! Thankyou sooo much for the time & energy you put into teaching us & the talent you have to share. Much love & appreciation of you and to you✨️🙏💚🧡
Rich -- I Like your calm style. Starting from scratch after years of playing. I am self taught but hit a dead end . Thinking this is the next logical step. Keep em coming. Thank you so much.
Thank You Rich!!!
Thanks Mr Brown… Great 👍🏻
Like these beginners lessons teacher brown👍🏿
Enjoyable and informative, thank you! 🥰
Hey Rich- you mentioned Sting as an example (despite his one-note reputation)he’s a real bassist-also CCR, because Fogarty’s brother wasn’t a bassist, just struggling to keep up. And ZZTop-bass is simple but a powerful drummer.
What An Elegant Backing Track There Mr Rich - Thank You For That - I See That You Are Closing In On 100K And I Am So Stoked For Ya - These Lessons Are Only Making Sense Because Of Your Delivery - I Also Appreciate You Taking Your Own Advice - You Once Told Us To Feel The Groove In Our Bodies Before We Take It To The Bass - In This Tutorial While You Were Playing That Backing Track , You Clearly Projected The Pace In Your Body - Well Done
Go Team Human ,
Cheers
You've been here from the very beginning. I can't thank you enough for all your support, brother Travis. Team Human prevails again!

Thanks! Keep going.
thanks for another great lesson! You're going exactly at the right pace. I find myself rushing to learn some songs to play (because its fun), but I come back to these lessons to sharpen the technical skills and theoretical knowledge.
Must be so wonderful to be so cool you are the bestest teacher ❤
Aw thank you so much. 🙏🏾❤️
❤❤❤❤ big salute 🫡 from Nepal 🇳🇵
Hey Mr. Brown! Thank you for the lessons :) I really enjoy your bass lessons, they're easy to follow, contain a lot of useful information (that you manage to break down even for someone who just picked up the bass) and you've got an incredibly calming voice. In my opinion you're definitely the #1 bass teacher on the internet. Keep it up!
I'm so glad you're finding the lessons helpful! Thank you for the kind words.
Great stuff. Loving it.
Thank you sir. Im revisiting them to tie them together as i progress.. 7 months in . Not bad. But the biggest lesson learned is at the end of practice play something that makes me feel good about playing.. which has helped tremendously.. again thank you sir.
Love the videos. What should be worked on after lesson 7.
Hey Rich! First of all, awesome videos, thx a lot for the hard work. One thing tho, here 10:46 when the letters for notes start showing up it should be BGDB DGB (and goes that way on the C major). It threw me off the first time i tried to play along, coz i thought i didnt understand the pattern. But again, thx a lot for your videos, can't wait for new ones!
Just donated a little something to your channel. Keep up the good work. We are enjoying your beginner lessons really good
Thank you so much! 🙏🏾❤
Super exercices, thank you
You're very welcome. I appreciate you tuning in.
Thank you very much. You’re a great teacher! I’m a total novice. I get confused about the correct fingering for a specific pattern. Should I follow your fingering? Also it would be great to have tabs or notes that could be downloaded and printed as I rewind to follow. Again I’m total beginner so my comments are probably lame but that’s where I’m at.
I love your left hand, muting all those strigs that arn´t being used, could you please develop on that subject? Great teachings, thanks
I appreciate the kind words, but in all honesty, muting is one of the areas where I need the most work regarding my playing. I'll discuss this soon. Thank you!
Hi Richard! Love your videos! They’ve helped me a lot! But I have a question…do you do private lessons?
Thank you. Unfortuneately, my schedule is too packed to take on new students right now.
Can you teach me how to play seven please sir
Dear Rich, thank you so much for wonderful videos. Just one question. I am very beginner at 45 years old, should i wait for next beginner series video or meanwhile can i also check some of your other videos ?
Thanks Mr. Brown this is very helpful. During the exercise, should I continue to alternate my index and middle finger near the pick up??
I think once you have the patterns down with the left hand, you can then focus on the fingerings with the right. So, eventually, yes. Thanks for watching!
Excellent. You're closing in on that 100k subscribers ! What do you think of Nashville Numbers? Do you ever use them? Thx!
To be totally honest I'm not entirely sure of what they are, but I do refer to the chords of a key by their numbers. 🤷🏾♂
Thanks Rich. Just a question- is there a reason we have moved to major 7th straight away? In next video can you explain a bit more about the relationship between them. Why particularly G and C. Thank. Really appreciate your lessons. Really helping me as a beginner. Thanks a lot.
Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for your question. We're still dealing with the triads, but I chose the major 7 chords to colour the harmony and create a nice backdrop for the exercise. C and G just seemed like a nice place to start. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for watching.
Great lesson! Could you do a lesson about how to get from intermediate bass player (stuck in one place practicing 2 octave scales, arepeggios, warm-up exercises, improvising and playing a bass line created on a fly to a backing track) to the advanced bass player and what to do, what to learn, what to practice, some theory to become advanced, some scale and arpeggio exercises but for the advanced bass player? IT WOULD BE SO COOL! And many people would benefit from this lesson. A genre playing lessons would also be GREAT for example how to play rock on bass, how to play metal on bass, how to play soul on bass, how to play motown on bass, how to play country on bass, how to play fusion (jazz-rock) on bass, how to play funk on bass and of course how to play jazz on bass guitar and how to start easily with walking bass lines and slowly become more fluent in playing walking bass (everything for intermediate/early advanced bass players) ! Could you please do lessons like this? It would be awesome! You are a great teacher and thank you for everything! I hope you will do lessons like these ideas I gave you in this comment. WE WOULD LOVE THAT! Greetings from Poland, Mike :)
hi. is there an error at 10:46 re the notes progression? shouldn't it be BGDB "GBD" OR "DGB"? THX
I am understanding but I would like for you to go a little slower. I am a beginner but its
coming along thankyou so much
Masterbass🤨🤨🤨
and now where?
I went to triads part 1.
Your Tempo seems off for me. Changes dont sequence for some reason. When you say change from G to C it is off by 2 beats
Thanks!
