I've already watched this video 2.5 times! Love it! 'The Room of Hoard' videos are some of my favorites! I believe I speak for all of the diehard 'Lindsay the Frugal Crafter' fans when I say we'd love to see an updated 2024 'Room of Hoard' and studio tour. We all love you and what you do for us here on TH-cam and the numerous other platforms you work on... Thank you so much for sharing. Much much love ❤❤
Wow, thank you!
I always love seeing you organize your room of hoard. I’m amazed you are able to keep it so neatly sorted with all the supplies you have! ❤
Thank you, I like to have a variety of supplies but only if I can find them;)
@@thefrugalcrafter I rearranged some of my waterclour pencils the other day so I could see how well they were worn down. These are the same pencils that are not very pigmented so I have been using them as coloured pencils and also practicing frictionless crafting with a limited palette.
I enjoyed watching you clean and organize. It looks great! I always say it never takes as long as you think to clean something or clean up a room. Once you get going it just comes together. Have a great weekend .
So true!
Such organization! I organize, a place for everything, and then forget where that place is when I go to put something away so I start a new place lol. I’ve learned over the years that I have a totally chaotic and disorganized brain and seems no matter how hard I try to retrain myself, I just don’t get better. A huge source of frustration for my mother when I was a kid. She could put more stuff in a square foot and know where everything was in an instant than I can store in a whole room! Loved the ‘ride along’!
I kept a simple note-taking app on my phone for a long time with a file named 'Where's my stuff' that helped me a lot with all kinds of storage. Even in my BR closet lol.
I have learned that we each have a certain amount of stuff we can manage and it can fluctuate during our seasons of life. Don't be hard on yourself. You just might need a more streamlined approach right now.
Enjoyed this! Thank you Lindsay. I wish I had a room of hoard to store things.
I do have an entire dedicated space in my attic craft room but my art supplies are usually in the dining room so I bought one of those pretty glass art tables for cheap. Only thing is they aren't very big.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it;)
I agree. Your Room of Hoard/ studio cleaning/organizing/tour videos are so cathartic and inspiring. It is random, but I do enjoy cleaning with you so much. Thank you for taking the time to film and, to encourage us to do something, anything to get us going. 🧽🧹🎨🖌️🧵🖼️
I totally agree!
I spent 45 minutes printing pictures from my last trip. I remember when you worked in the room of hord and did Ask A Craftrr with your friend Kathy. Please say hi to her as well & let her know she is missed on TH-cam. 😊 Thank you for taking us along with your cleaning. Loved it.
Will do!
This is great! I have so many different hobbies - textiles, weaving, spinning, woodworking, bookbinding, ceramics, jewellery, painting, drawing, you name it! It's fantastic to see that I don't have to live in my current utter chaos, and I love the zone idea. I seem to be able to organize individual stuff, but somehow can't extend that to organizing an entire area of activity.
I also go in and out of what I love to do at any given moment, but I know I would be sad if I decided, for example, to go back to woodworking, and had sold or given away everything. I need our garage for the big stuff like kiln and saws, but the rest of my projects should be able to fit inside my house using organizational tips like yours. Thank you so much for the inspiration! 😃
Happy to help. If you have room to keep the hobbies you have on hold and the supplies won't spoil you might as well until you are sure you no longer want them.
@@thefrugalcrafter I just came across some old/vintage French tube gouache from somewhere. I didn't buy these for myself, so I must have inherited them, as they're J.M. Paillard - an old brand that apparently stopped making paint in the 1970s. Many of them are dry or semi-dry, but does this stop me from getting out an eyedropper and water? Of course not! Even when things are spoiled I try to bring them back to life. I may need an intervention. 😄
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. Best wishes to you! ❤ Happy independence day and week.
Same to you
As I just declutteted, I'm now working on reorganizing in zones. I got a few good ideas watching you clean up . I found I need to be able to see what I have to use it, because I found so much I didn't remember I had. Thanks for the idea of leaving something on the hill. That makes so much sense.
You got this!
I can never resist a declutter video, but first, I must get the coffee going !!
Awesome!
Thanks Lindy, you totally inspired a few days of cleaning up for me and I have finally put all my molds into an organized two boxes and catalogued and put away the stamps and dies I have bought/used for the last year. Oh boy, yes a year, I was oh dear. I mean, they werent laying around, they just werent where they should be with their correct brothers and sisters. I wish I had two full rooms where to store all my things, so difficult in a two bedroom flat.
Watching you tidy up really brings home the idea of having a place for everything -- you know where things belong. It's interesting that having a place for everything is also freeing up your brainspace to allow for seeing where an item might better serve you. What you've accomplished here is something I've struggled with my whole life. I'm getting their, though -- I do have enough storage now for the things I've kept after paring down (had to do that in stages -- took forever, but I am at peace with the letting go). I now need to sort through it and organize into categories.
I just wrote that down as a first step: "Figure out a solid set of categories." Yay me.
I enjoyed the video -- got me wanting to dive back in. :)
Awesome job!
My age is showing: their/there
Love to watch - we have a similar cleaning technique. I need to see my supplies or I forget about them - plus the supplies are all so darn pretty to look at 😍
Yes!
Yes, you definitely inspired me to start cleaning my craftroom today. It's been a long time since I have gone through everything. I have found a few things that I no longer want (never used products), and plan to ask a friend of mine who owns an online scrapbooking store to sell those items for me. Thanks so much. Your room of hoard looks awesome!!!
For me the key is having a home area for different mediums so I know where to return items and where to find them. Your space is well organized with clear areas for your artistic goals. The joy in cleaning up is always remembering just how much I already own and need to use up. Enjoyed seeing your studio area!
Great tip!
Yes! I tidied up my creative desk while watching this. You are right, it took less time than I thought. How often I procrastinated because I thought it would take forever. I am starting on a hill tomorrow or later today. It feels so good to see it all free from chaos and ready to start. It's great to have a "tidy up buddy". Have a great weekend!!
Wonderful!
You made me laugh with your rationale regarding keeping the eye glasses because I think like that too 😂
Me too. I too justify keeping random useful things for the zombie apocalypse- for trade or to sell...Lmao
Lindsay, loving your video today! I had lunch with you and swatched some new art supplies and loved seeing your art space and all the supplies you keep so well organized. Thanks for another lovely video and I am looking so forward to the next installment!! Yay for art and keeping our art space clean, neat and organized! It makes for such an easier task when we are ready to tackle the next big art project. We can start with a smile when our space is so neat and ready for whatever our heart desires to create! You are such a joy to watch!
I appreciate that, thanks!
I am so envious of your room of hoard and your craft room. What a great space!
Thank you so much!
You make me feel normal! I am making journals at the moment! I have stored cereal boxes for covers! I have now cut them down to size! I am also a card maker and also love drawing and painting! My craft can be overwhelmed with all my hobbies! I love it! ❤❤❤
Wonderful!
I’m planning to start packing up my sewing studio today to get ready to move and I also want to set up my few unpacked art supplies to use, so this is perfect timing for me. I will watch it and play along later today. Thanks for posting!
Sounds great!
I buy a lot of art supplies… A LOT… but the one thing I’m super talented at (‘cos it’s sure as hell not art strangely lol!) and the one thing I do do (hehe, doodoo) (after I swatch)… is put everything away in its own special place, categorised and tidy, my craftroom is always the tidiest room in my house and I’ve never been a tidy person naturally…… but I still love watching others tidy and organise their craft supplies too!
It is my life, just much more of it :) I love your art hoard rooms! The art tetris is a real element in supply storage that I play daily it seems. I love to do art, and I teach art so I have my two passions combined, but on different perspectives and finding a balance of storage for fun and work is something I seem to struggle with. Thank you for always teaching and sharing your life with us, you are amazing!
Thank you!
I was't planning on cleaning art supplies this morning. My space looks great now and ready for WWM! Thanks Lindsay!
You are so welcome!
OMG. The room of hoard, even though I’ve see it before it’s a better shop than I’d find in many places. My little studio, is often called the tardis, and it is Loved watching you clean.
That is awesome!
Hi...I'm only 57 seconds into this video and I already love it. I get joy and great ideas when I clean up my space. Okay, now I'll watch the video 😊
Thank you!
This is so much fun, what a fantastic video ☺☺
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was relaxing and satisfying to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your pattern box gave me warm fuzzies and a little giggle. I worked at So-Fro Fabrics as my first job in the mid-80s!
Fun!
I had such fun watching you reorganize the room of hoard! Wowee! 45 mins is nothing for 2 rooms and you did such a great job, Lindsay. You inspired me to clean my "closet" of hoard, dining table, island, so I'm straightened out now too! Thanks for the afternoon of reorganization! :)
Thank you so much!!
I don't know if to love you or be mad. I like to put on your non tutorial videos before going to bed as I love learning. Instead I ended up cleaning up my art suplies and it is now 3 hours later (2:30am) my big draws of all my profecinal products are all organised colour coded and media sectioned. I also organised all my canvases and art desk. Everything has a place and will now stay tidy hopfuly. I'm going to get much needed sleep and thank you I'm so exited to create tomorrow thanks to you. ❤
Love that! Sweet dreams!
Watching as I gaze upon my craft table full of card making supplies to be put away! Still have a few to do. Also my watercolor supplies are in a corner. Time to set my timer!
Have fun!
I've restarted this multiple times as I always get inspired too. Thanks, eventually, I'll actually watch the entire video. ❤
Awesome!
I love resetting my space and coming back to it clean!
I have been finishing up lots of projects lately. Today, I gave myself a break and made a few nice cards. 2 were fun folds!
I wish I could get my hands into your craft space!😂
Wonderful!
Watching you inspired me to do some picking up and organizing 😊
I'm so glad!
Loved watching this. My art cart rolls into the, kitchen, which is my painting area. I use my late husbands office for storage, drying area, etc. always great to see how others have their set up! Ps I didn’t clean up, just watched LOL
That's a great idea!
I just finished cleaning my hobbyroom. My plants needed some love, I put them all in the bath and wiped down alot of surfaces I hadn't cleaned in a long while. Pottering around with my plants always makes me rethink how I organise my supplies. Today I attached a lamp the the windowsill instead of the desk and voila, more space. It's so inspiring when everything is organised and clean and my plants and yelling at me that they're almost dead 🙃😂
I was wondering if you'd forget the strips of paper you picked up and put down again, but you got to them in the end. Still love the room of hoard and seeing you in your beloved space. 🥰 Hope you're having a great summer.
Thanks, I am!
That's a great fine liner set, I bought several for Christmas gifts.
It really is!
This was awesome. I got a bunch of really good tips for storage and set up. Thank you for sharing your process.
Glad it was helpful!
I didn't think I'd have time for the whole video, but I got my hummingbird food made and did up some neglected dishes while my phone was perched on the window over my sink, and I still had time to sit and watch a few minutes at the end. Whoo hoo! Some jobs done! It was fun to see you declutter and I think my issue is just putting things away or finding a home where I'll remember where they are. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you had a nice 4th, too.
You did stuff! That was the intent, to get people moving.
Wow!! Your room of hoard absolutely amazes me!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for doing this! helps me spear through my own work area! Hugs to you
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing I looove watching cleaning videos 🥰 but I never watch them when my desk is in chaos because I always end up feeling very productive by just watching someone else clean their own space and would never end up cleaning mine 😅
😆
i loved that box of new brushes,i am always trying to make my tiny apt not look like an art store.i am grateful for my art abbudance,
If you like it why not let it look like an art store. I know you use your stuff so enjoy it:)
I love clean/organize my craft room with me videos 😍 put this on while prepping my stuff for my next move 😅
Great idea!!
Hullo Lindsay, I wrote a couple of comments one was even very good, IMHO, but I touch the mouse and Poof! It just goes away! Thanks for sharing your process and I hope you have a lovely day.
I hate it when that happens! Thanks for watching!
Loved watching this
Thanks
For a few weeks now I have been using some of my watercolour pencils as coloured pencils in my adult colouring book. They are not very pigmented but look ok when used dry.
I decided to move them from my storage unit into a pencil case so I could see how far they had gone down and was surprised to see most of them are hardly used.
I dislike these pencils so having them away in a pencil case means I don't have to look at them but helps me with frictionless crafting as I can grab them when I want to use them.
I love the Navy polka-dot dress Lindsay. So adorable
Thanks!
Thank you for this video! 😊 today has been a slow start, and I needed a body double, even if it's virtual.
You're so welcome!
T hanks for being relatable, with little project areas...
My pleasure!
First thing I do in the morning is to clean the kitchen. Then I've started my day.
Love that!
I loved this video. Unfortunately where I craft is also my hoard room. I guess I’m just happy I have a room!! Thank you for giving me ideas on how to make it more user friendly. Have a great weekend!!
You are so welcome!
Love this! Greetz from The Netherlands ❤
Inspired me to clean my office/studio. Thanks.
Nice!
My craft area/desk constantly becomes a dumping ground! I recently reorganized and hopes that helps. I think I’m the kind of person that falls kinda in between. I need an organized space to start but am not impeded by a couple small projects out. Great video!
Thanks!
I always love your organizing videos... Because they remind me.. my studio does not have to be Pinterest worthy... Use what I have and put sh*t away
Amen!
Thanks Lindsay! Perfect timing 💕
You're so welcome!
I love cleaning my room of hoard, but I usually need help to do much.
Now I can't wait to get to the basement and sort through everything. I love, love having everything organized. I'm a bit OCD, so before I start, I have to get it all in order & know what I have & where it is.
If I have a block, I move to some other materials. Or I go clean off my work table, do mending, sort & put away thread & buttons, etc. I just have to touch colors or paper to get going again.
Actually, these days, if I am cleaning, it's because of fear of doing something. I have to work at not getting more nervous about not being able to do things well any longer. When you've had an injury or are getting older, dealing with mobility or vision issues, artists block may just be fear-- being afraid to start because we feel we've diminished some (or a LOT).
Good point!
Art Tetris! Yeah, that is soooo me! LOL
😆 🤣 😂
For your stained cotton, dye it! You can dye it cheap & easy, you just need food coloring & vinegar, or easier still, Kool-aid or Mio drink flavors. (Flavors for water have acetic acid in them already, so they set the dye permanently.) Cheap watercolors may work too!
Soak the yarn by putting it in a jar of water or (water & vinegar) to wet it thoroughly. Let it soak for a few minutes, but remove it from the water to set the dye. (I don't always remove the cardboard core.)
Then sprinkle an array of colors on your wet yarn it in scattered patterns.
Put the wet, colored, acidic yarn in the microwave for 1-2 min. at a time until it seems to have dried some of the yarns & set your colors. This works amazing on ribbon, silk, wool, nylon, but we've often done crochet cotton, too. Lots of fun colors & stains blend right in.
Great idea!
Thank you for sharing the cleaning! I do better cleaning before I start crafting, spark the creativity!
You are so welcome!
Insane art Tetris… I am intimately familiar with that game. 😂
😆 better than Jenga or Jumanji!
LMAO.. Zombie apocolypse glasses.. I see and hear you!! I am off today and needed this inspo for cleaning MY art room!
You got this!
You're so awesome,love the video.❤🤗
Thank you so much!!
Now I'm trying to remember what I did with my magnetic knife holders that I got from Ikea (I think) so that I can use them for my scissors and tools! I got them and for some reason I decided not to use them for my knives. Thanks for the idea to use them in the craft/hobby, room which I didn't have a few years ago when I purchased the knife holders. If I could just remember where I put them!
It works great!
Lindsey thank you for the inspiration and motivation. This went very fast. You are more organized than you think. 😂... what type of box/container did you use for your beads and finding? My jewellery organization is hit and miss right now. Tyfs❤😊
amzn.to/4ctYMpQ this is similar, there sre other options too. I don't know the brand as it was 2nd hand.
Really liked this video - while i didnt clean my room (Deep cleaned it last week and its fine right now - only the actual project things out - yay) I looked for reference pictures for an online course im taking right now. I didnt hear a living soul today (live alone... that can be a bit lonely sometimes) and having a lighthearted video like yours on in the background is really nice for that.
On that note: I love your podcast for that too and after your uploaded your the episode with Sarah Burns I listened to all your older episodes and then all the new ones when they come out - will there be more? (I dont watch them here on you tube - but listen on a podcast player on my phone)
Yes, will be back with more this fall!
Starting on a hill. I love that. But I need to become a little more tidy. My house is always a mess.
You got this!
Sorry I’m not cleaning alongside, but I’ll crochet and watch 😂
That works:)
0:28 I'm gonna start doing this with you!!! I don't have much to clean, but i think I'm gonna just get it done!! :)
Nice!
Looks wonderful, Lindsey!
Do you have a link to the adjustable diecut machine
amzn.to/3LjmLw2 is the 6" wide one, mine is 9" wide I think.
Wish I could get my mess straightened that quickly, but that’s not happening. I’ve been taking on little projects to get my mess straight, but I’m grateful for any progress no matter how small at this point.
Do what you can and celebrate the wins.
I was gifted a bunch of old patterns. I ended up taking it to good will. Now I wish I had them for mixed media and other cool art ideas. At the time I was not thinking of them like that. I was thinking of sewing ideas. I do t sew so it was just a waste to keep them.
I did yesterday’s dishes and made my bed while watching. Does that count? Lol😂
Yes! Awesome job!
Lindsey how did you know what we all need? My desk hasnt been totally cleared off since I last added a layer of paint to it! 😂
(Its a cheap desk and I use a lot of UV resin, I just sand and paint it once a year or so to cover the mess)
You got this!
Me: I should be cleaning too
😅😅😅
Also me: buuuuuuut🤣
Seriously though I hurt my back last weekend and bending and reaching right now is SO painful 😣
I’m hoping it’s nothing too serious 💪
Oh no, let yourself heal. I have yard icy hot cream when I've hurt my back before. Motion is lotion. Gentle movement (not lifting) will often help.
@@thefrugalcrafter yes thanks. I’ve been putting Vicks kinda the same. But slow movement is all I’m able to do😣
Entertained yesterday too but this weekend will be turtle slow. Hopefully I’ll be better by Monday. Hope you had a great fourth 💕
Art tetris!
Yup! I'm a master at that game!
❤
Well, that was fun. I wish I could locate my supplies as easily as you do. My craft area (aka my dining room) is very small compared to yours and I still can't find things when I need them. It's so frustrating! I need a better system. I did notice something I'm curious about ~ the bottle of kosher salt! What do you use that for ~ to rim your margarita glasses? lol
😆 I wish! No, it's for watercolor effects.
Really fun! Might want to check the white jewelry findings trays. I think one wasn’t latched closed. I can just see findings all over the floor! Ask me how I know! 😂
I don't latch anything so I am aware:)
The problem I come into while cleaning is it restarts my organizing frenzy. Then the wheels fall off. I think it’s what prevents me from really making much anymore. The mess, the organization, the busting and overflowing plethora of stuff. Many days I miss my small table and single tote of stickers. 🤷♀️
You can get back there. Maybe take a tote and put your essentials or favorites in there so you can grab that when you want to create and pick away at the rest at other times. Good luck:)
love those yogurt ? cups you have pencils in. They sound like glass? Where can I find those? They would be perfect for here next to me. Thank you.
Oui yogurt comes in pretty glass jars but look smaller than what was in this video.
They are the oui dairy free yogurt cups, I think the regular ones are the same size. It's delicious yogurt too! You can purchase lids for them on amazon too si you can use them for other crafts and storage. I live finding products with reusable packging:)
Lol, I save eyeglasses too. Zombie apocalypse? Maybe. Now…where did I put them?
I moved a year ago and finally have a dedicated craft area that I have been able to keep fairly clean. The thing I want to ask, is my Artist Loft alcohol markers got something on the ends that look like mold. I have tried to rub off, but to no avail. I think I need to just break down and purchase a new set of markers. I don't use often so do not want to spend a lot on them. Do you have any suggestions?
It's actually salt. You can clean it off with rubbing alcohol. It happens when the dye ink separates from the mordant (a substance that makes it bond to a surface, in this case a salt) and it looks gross. This happens when the marker starts to dry out. If you have clear blending fluid or high % alcohol you can add moisture back to the marker.
@@thefrugalcrafter thanks I will try that.
You have a lot of things and I am amazed of Your system!. I have been a crafter and still am in one or another way, even though I paint with watercolor mostly now adays. I haven't decided if I wanna sell my craft things 'cause I got more time now with no kids living at home and my husband is working in other places sometimes and being away now and then, so I might wanna scrap again. Mixed media is also kid of nice, so there are stuff for that too. But I think it's good that I have two rooms like You, I'm not having classes or so, so I don't need that much material as You do. I can have times when I can't get rid of things so I know I shouldn't have to much space.
It's so hard. I gell like I could let some crafts go but often the supplies can be used in other projects.
Thank you for sharing, I am really into cleaning my studio, but i do like arranging and re=arranging my art supplies. cleaning to me to total full room clean into moving furniture, sweeping, mopping etc, it is a lot and full two days job. but i do clean up immediately myself i rarely leave a mess in my studio. if i am working on a project i am not finish, it is rare and few in between, maybe just a palette will be left out. Amazon Prime Day is coming are planning to browse or you have some shopping in mind?
I will look for good deals and do my list but I'm not really looking for anything in particular. I'd still live to try wet strength tissue so if the price of that drops I might snag it. How about you? Did that hurricane hit your area. I hope you and yours ate safe and well.
@@thefrugalcrafter thank you so much, thankfully the hurricane went more north into Mexico, I do prayer that no one else loose their lives due to this hurricane apparently it cost some lives in Grenada, thank you for your concern.
You are so funny Lindsay! Zombie appoclypse?
Lindsey, what is your favorite brand of watercolor?
M graham
@@thefrugalcrafter , I don’t know a lot about paints, what about M Graham would make it different from Daniel Smith or Schmicke, or other professional brands? Also what is your favorite gouache paint? And why? I recently started painting, which is why I’m asking these questions.
I genuinely have that seem fear about my glasses and keep all my old pairs 🤣
We are ready for the zombie apocolypse!
Mine is the dump.
I always tell myself it's going to take awhile to clean my house and then I look at it and it only took me in probably about an hour to clean it from start to finish a lot of times I will Craft on my bed and before I leave to go to work I have to clean off the bed because I can't stand any messes on my bed that's just the place that I sleep at
🥰🇬🇧
I don't think you tube likes me posting comments. I just posted and it has vanished!
Odd
How did you know I need to do this today?
I think we all need it sometimes:)
It actually DOES inspire me!
Yay!
But this is not cleaning. It's tidying up all the stuff in the right organized place. I try to tidy & clean everything every time i craft or paint. Not only because i only have a desk on my living room. But mainly because it's so much easier to start the next project in a tidy space
So true!
