Allis Chalmers made some really good equipment they made all crop combines my dad had and all crop 90 combine and my aunt had a all crop 60 and I know gentleman who goes to my church that has and all crop 72 and he still has it yet today.thanks Jason for this molboard plow
I use a WD, D-17, 175, 180, & a 220. They are all diesel except the WD. I use the WD & D-17 for light duty work like running augers, raking hay, & rearranging equipment. The 175 has a Massey Ferguson loader on it. I use it to move hay bales & other light to medium duty jobs. I use the 180 for pulling a 12 row John Deere planter, bushhog mowing, & pulling 2 200 bushel wagons at harvest. I use the 220 to pull a 15' Great Plains drill, bale hay, pull 2 200 bushel wagons in wet weather, & bushhogging. I also use an Agco Allis 9675 & a CAT45. I use the CAT45 mainly for tillage & cart duty. For combines, I use a John Deere 8820 Turbo & a Gleaner R-52. My cousin has a D-15, 190, & a D21 that we used to use on the farm until he retired a couple years ago.
Awesome find! Seems like all the cool, well-kept finds are out in WI. That seems like a significant amount of money for that tractor...I can see why Steiger was SO popular in the FWD market. Poster pic you included in the middle looks SO COOL!
I heard/rerad someplace the moldboard plowing was making a comeback as it is more efficient at controlling weeds. When no-till/less-till entered the scene in my area (50+ years ago), I remember my dad talking with a local farmer who had tried it. He mentioned that the money he saved on tillage was easily spent on an increase, both in frequency & quantity, of herbicide applications.
I really hated to park my IH 720 plow when I switched from plowing to chiseling. Best plow. If you could drive a tractor through it would cut and cover it! Before switching I thought I’d just take every other cover board off and leave some stalks sticking up. Didn’t work! Then I took all cover boards off. Still clean!
My dad had bought the same setup a 7580 with an Allis 7 bottom semi mounted plow brand new back in 1979 his had 24.5/32 single tires on it. Was traded off in 1986 for a caseih 4494 and a White 7 bottom plow. Both tractors ran a 1250 Gehl chopper the rest of the season. I really miss them old days.
We grew up with Allis tractors and Gleaner combines. I remember grandpa's D17; dad still has his 1982 8010 and a 1973 185. I remember when he brought the 8010 home. She was a huge step up from the 966. We could talk to each other and hear the radio😂😂😂😂 He still runs a 21 foot Krause disk and a 22 foot IH field cultivator. The 8010 doesn't do much field tillage anymore. He leaves that to the 3545 Massey and the 7220 CIH
Awesome to see! That thing is in very nice shape. I really miss seeing orange tractors out in the fields like I did when I was a kid.7 Does this one normally run on singles like this or do they have clamp on duals for it (if you know)?
My father & grandfather sold AC tractors & combines in south central Michigan from the mid 1930's until early 70s. AC had many good designs and engineering breakthroughs, but overall my Dad said AC always came up with too little to late. WD-45's sold well, but soon farmers wanted row crop tractors with high wheels and straight axles, and more power. AC gave them the D17, and later D19. Neither had row crop axles, and no 3 pt hitches until later series. By the late 60's the AC parent company (electric generation, industrial products) was in decline due to bad decisions through the 50's, and therefore couldn't adequately fund the research the Ag Div. needed to stay competitive with JD and IH. The new AC 70's big tractors showed promise, but needed better engineering for durability; again too little too late....majority of farmers had moved on to green and red.
The engine barely changes sound when the plow is dropped, so it's not overworked, but it's quite a feat pulling 7 when in reality the 7580 was more or less a 150 HP front wheel assist tractor. Allis Chalmers 💪
Well this video got added to my favorites very quickly, yeah i'm getting really excited to hook my 8550 up to my newly acquired 8x18 White plow no shine the boards. great video Jason
Top video 👍. Always love a ploughing video, and this is a great video because you can see plenty of the plough and the job it’s doing as well as the tractor, nice presentation. Regards from Down Under.
Had a 1980 model year with long axles and duals with the stadium light package. It was good to see one working again especially when the camera angle showed to be "smoking" a bit. Neighbours always said Phils got that tornado going again.....
Always looking for AC. The 7580 was top on my wish list. I have filmed every articulated four-wheel-drive from AC with the posting of this one. I would like to find a maroon belly 7580 and a 440 white cab to film.
The old AC complex has been redeveloped. A lot of its gone but Blast Technologies still in one Line building. I drop steel there once in when while. Brings me back in time what was.
There is an Allis Chalmers boneyard south of Durand, WI. I drove by it last Sunday. Good place for tractors and parts. Another subject though, seeing all that black dirt turned over is disturbing. I just drove on I-35 in southern Minnesota today and all the black dirt in the ditches of this no snow year is painful to see. No Till and light tillage is the way to go if you want to keep your soil.
Would love to have one of those 75.80 to pull a large square baler. We currently have a 70:45 which pulls a 16 foot Ñew Holand disc bine also a HS 430 manure spreader.
They will never do it UNLESS they put it up on their website for us to give them feedback on what we want. I'm already sick of seeing the same old stuff from them in different variations. I asked my local dealer why they do that and he said it's because people keeps buying the same product and that ertl won't dip their toes into something else. I'd love to see a 1/16 Steiger Tiger but who knows with them
We had a W D with a front end loader to load Chicken Manure with, boy did it steer hard because it didn't have power steering and that loader made it heavier.
I don’t understand how farmers are doing it these days…to buy something comparable today would cost you over $400k…you could likely buy that tractor with the plow for under $50k…I would never buy new stuff today…I would buy multiple used tractors at a much lower cost and have the redundancy in case you had a tractor go down…fix up the old stuff to like new condition and run it!..new tractors today are just out of this world in price!…that old Allis is in gorgeous condition!
@@Beyonder8335 I agree with the technology when it comes to planting!…it really does make it so much easier and much more precise…but like you said you don’t really need much tech to pull a plow. I run 7580 on 12 row planter, anhydrous tool bar, and grain cart. But have 7060, 7045 for spraying and 7010 for mowing, small grain cart. 7010 I would never guess could handle 12 row planter. Thats impressive.
Oh yeah even has liquid on the planter also. Duel it up and away with it we go. Pull her at 5mph up and down rolling ground. These tractors I think are under estimated on their horse power. Occasionally pull a 6 bottom semi mounted plow and a 18 foot disk.
Could watch plowing videos all day. Thanks Jason. GO BTP!
Always love to see an Allis in the field.
These are the toughest looking tractors ever built!! The big hood and the angles of the cab...it just looks mean!!!
Mighty fine video 👍👍
Thanks for taking the time to make it. Awesome example of a 7580
Not even a minute into the video and my ears and eyes have been blessed, know this will be a good video and you should keep it up BTP!
Built 25 minutes from my house in West Allis. We took a tour there in 1974. We used a WD45 for just about everything...back in the day.
West Allis it is old school and forward. I like it.
kkkooooo😊😊😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I’ve got a 7045, very nice machine. I think Allis were under rated. Great video, thanks for posting it
Nice video. I like to see the old iron still out there working in the fields. That tractor sounds great with the straight pipe.

AC is close to my heart. I grew up with them ! Great tractors and great memories!!!
Great find Jason! I know you've been wanting to film a 7580 for a long time! Great to see classic orange paint out in the field getting it done!

What a awesome tractor, and company. I grew up running Allis Chalmers and loved those tractors.
I love that it's on singles too
It’s a cool classic. Allot of 70’s 4wds were sold on singles.

As Chemical cost keep climbing and the demand for Organics increase you'll see more Moldboards. The only downfall is what's known as plowpan.

Got to tour the plant in west allis twice with the ffa while in high school

7010, 185, d-15, WD, WC, and a C that is my fence fixing, cow fetching machine. A little tillage for hay reseeding, manure spreading and hay making.

We are getting a Steiger Industrial CA325
I'd like to add a vote for " best looking muffler " on this tractor... the one in the field, not the picture. thanks Jason
Run a 8030 using it mostly on a Hesston round baler. Growing up had a pair of WD45s that we mowed and raked with.
Very cool set up.
Nice set up.

@@bigtractorpower hey jason. Do you film in northern minnesota at all?
Always funny to me to see a articulated tractor plowing in furrow
It was allot more common 50 years. I like finding these classics.
I like those old Allis, nice 👌 👍
Me too.
Great video. I have a 7580 just like that one. Have a six bottom allis plow that I want to pull with it someday
Very cool. The 7580 has been on my wishlist to film for a long time. The only AC 4wd I need to find now is a T16.

Allis Chalmers 💪
Good video.
We had a C that had really quick governors and it was a Tricycle front end. I think it fell off once and My Dad had to put it back together.
At least they were less complicated in the days of the C to repair. The C was built to last a lifetime.
I cannot tell you the last time I saw a farmer moldboard plowing in my area which is only an hour north of where this video was taken.
Grew up with a AC 160 on our farm in NC because of the very low speed transmission to pick bell pepper
My Grandfather had a Wood saw on the front of His W D 45.
Very cool.
My Grandfather liked Allis Chalmer Tractors, but he had a WD 45 when He died.
The WD 45 is easily a candidate for the best AC tractor ever built. 👍👍
👏👏👍👍🚜🚜👌👌
We had a W D with a front end loader to load Chicken Manure with, boy did it steer hard because it didn't have power steering and that loader made it heavier.
Power steering sure makes it easier. The WD was built solid to last a life time.
I use a Case 2390 in Wilkie Saskatchewan on a small farm.
Very cool. Great tractor.
I have not seen any farm plow for I bet 25 years plus. It’s just not done anymore around here.
