The monster is only clapping to turn the lights off in places you're not in to save you electricity and got more and more agitated as you went around turning all the lights back on until it decided to turn you off instead.
We love a monster trying to save our electric bill
"Did you leave this light on?
Are you gonna' pay these bills?
Are you working a double-shift in the mines tomorrow?
I didn't think so.
Turn. It. OFF."

I really appreciate how the protagonist was smart enough to get the fuck out of there as quickly as possible rather than stick around in a danger zone.
most unreal part was he did not went to "invistigate the neighbor's house, and actually ran to a police station, like what white main character doesnt go invistigate when they see a demon clapping?
@randomdoggo9489 I can think of a handful of examples but at least half of them are Jordan Peele and the fact that I have to dip into movies where most of the cast are POC to find POC characters that survive the movie kinda says a lot
@randomdoggo9489
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Thing (1982); may or may not be The Thing
Jaws: The Revenge (1987); died in the original cut
Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors (1987); dies in the next movie
Event Horizon (1997)
Anaconda (1997); Ice Cube refused to do the part without this guarantee
Deep Blue Sea (1999)
28 Days Later (2002)
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
@DracoHandsome The guy in The Thing did die later. You can find his body in the game. Not sure if that counts, though.

I feel like the lore could be some kind of monster that is attracted by clapping, as it claps itself, and That unfortunate house system is just attracting it around.
Currently still watching the video but l am assuming that the monster spies on you for a while so like see's that you're doing alot with clapping like switches off and on the lights and is like "oh shit l am gonna be so creative with this"

We actually own a switch that responds to clapping (or any loud noise). A few years ago my cousin joked that if there was an intruder and you turned on the lights, they could just turn them right back off. This game reminded me of that
protagonists in these games always head bob like they're suffering from late stage mercury poisoning.

Given the implication that the owner of the house knows about the monster (the locked door with a warning sign) and the fact that monster goes for the meat in the fridge (and that the fridge is so heavily stocked with raw meat in the first place) before attacking the housesitter makes me think that the whole "hiring housesitters" thing is a ruse in order to keep the monster under control with minimal risk to the owner, or perhaps the owner was forced to be out of town (business trip?) and so tried to make preparations in order to keep the monster in the house.
@@sirei01 fair; I forgot about Marksim being in the trash bag. I still believe that Marksim was aware of the monster and tried to keep it under control, but failed in the end, and now the monster is hiring people in order to bring in more food.

I understand where you’re coming from, and I’m gonna let you finish,, but it is very much not fine when the monster does it either.
You can't really go around trying to apply human laws and rules to monsters... you gotta contact the Monster Police and see what they have to say about it.

my thought was that the monster *IS* the security system, then it just goes crazy or something and decides to use the house sitters as a free food source
I like this angle!! Like maybe it thought there was going to be threats, when most of the time how many people are getting their house broken into out of people who aren't and because it's not getting it's food source like you said it went after the home owner. Genius!
Yeah, like the security system is the monster and the way of him getting food consist in every house having a security system working like a kinda of portal /or maybe the monster is part of somekind of species who need to be "installed" in a house to materialize
This is what makes most sense honestly. The neighbor having the clap clap system and dying, as well as the security system being WAYYYY too cheap.
Though the theory of the creature just being attracted to clapping is also simpler but makes sense
This makes a lot of sense; I was also thinking that maybe those who clap the lights on when they come in the room and back off when they leave may keep the monster at bay? Bc the monster is typically only in dark rooms. So as a part of the system, the monster claps the lights off occasionally to save energy. But if the owner or person in the house leaves the lights on too often they get eliminated and eaten. Agree completely too with that being a security feature
You know what would be insane? If the creature appear in the streets and after it claps the whole area goes black including the skies
Street lights yes, sky? No.
@@matterking1 Why? That is exactly what makes it creepy. For the whole time monster using a simple mechanism that works in familiar way. But this - unnatural, its impossible in any way yet it happened by similiar rules. You can't rationalize it and that's exactly what makes thing most terrifying.

i think this was pretty solid for the dev's first game! the aesthetics and sound design were great and the idea was pretty neat, and I hope to see them continue to improve :)
The real horror is how much water is being used on those flowers
The poor monster was just misunderstood. He just wanted to play and help the protagonist with their back(?) pain. Sure, lifting the doors out of their hinges and scratching the walls was rude, but he was just so excited and there's no evidence that he was resposible for the accidents that happened to the neighbors.
The truly scary one is the protagonist: a floating pair of arms and possibly a head, moving things around telekinetically and mind manipulating everyone they encounter into thinking they are just a normal human.
Hahaha
I think what's going on is the monster flunked chiropractic school and has never forgiven himself for it.

Your theory about the security company being in on it reminds me of a horror film where a group of people were being killed one by one by a monster. The survivors were taken by policemen that were around the area back to the station, where they are trapped below the basement where the monster is also present. The twist is that the police are in on it and the monster is actually the son of the chief of police. The survivors apprehended by the police are killed to keep anyone else from talking.

I like to think the monster only attacks bad house sitters
For the dude's first game, I think they did the atmosphere really well. It felt pretty uncomfortable towards the end there.
I do think the middle segment could be expanded on where you're not certain if anything is actually going on, but I did get scared when it just suddenly appeared so I've got to give it credit. I absolutely think the security company installing the system is behind the monster though, all three relevant houses in the story had the system and the monster went after all of them.
After the first appearance of the monsters, there's a couple subtle changes (which I love in horror games!). You can see 'em starting around 12:06.
- Chair on the right side of the table was moved
- The book, a plate, and a napkin were moved to the table
- Pizza box and wine were moved to the couch
- Blender on the counter was moved
- The meats!
- At 13:05, all the ducks are gone (which we see them show up later)
I wouldn't be surprised if there was other changes that I didn't see.
I don't think he ever closed the sliding glass door, but it was closed when he went back in after watering the plants

I find it interesting when I can tell a house/asset became free or got really popular from one game.
I've seen this neighborhood about 4-5 times recently.
Happend to me once. I played adult game House Party once and I find the same exact house in another game (forget the title) and I was like “Hey! I’ve claped someone’s ass in there before!”
I mean, if it ain’t broke…
You know what, I appreciate it, I could use a little encouragement from time to time, some applause really couldn’t hurt.
I was about to go to bed but then this video popped up on my feed. It reminded me of my 12 year old self who could not get any sleep the night before we were about to move out of our town. My parents were long asleep and I kept hearing clapping noises everytime I closed my eyes, it would stop as soon as I would open my eyes. It seemed as if those noises were only coming from one particular room which was empty at that moment.. I never dared to look in there. Nonetheless, it was a terrifying experience.

There is this short horror film "Clap Clap" by Bpiskorik Films that it's 6/7 years old now. It's the same premise so I was wondering if the creator of the game got inspired by it or is it a complete coincidence. It's a good 5 min watch if interested
I have one of those clapper things in my room. It’s really finicky though, so I’m shocked that people would want their entire houses to be controlled by them.

another idea for the monster and its association with the security system is that the monster knows all the exploits and flaws of the security. so its more comfortable attacking houses with that system because it would know how to get in and use it against the owner.
