    I guess I should have been more clear in the video. The clip of the ankle roll was a flashback (the glitch transition after me talking about where it happened) to the 2020 No Business 100 race. I did not roll my ankle on this run.

      The logs look like more of an obstacle than anything with the ruts. Definitely harder to get over on 80+ miles legs.

    Nice route recognition! Wonderful trails! Lovely rain, and descent afterwards, cool river crossings, lovely hut, stairs in the forest, a truly splendid trail! And a very successful group run! You ankle guy! 🙂

    Thanks for the course preview. Definitely some big water crossings in there. Hopefully I’ll be able to see the rock arches in the daylight instead of the middle of night given they are on the last 3/4 of the course this year.

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The arches were pretty early on in the race last year, about mile 20ish if I remember correctly. Thanks for watching!

    Nice trails with good tree canopy. The steps you rolled your ankle would be challenging at night. It looked like the trail is wider than the steps. Looked like a fun run

    • @UltraTrailSteven

      Yeah it’s fun to be on the course with other runners. This section will be miles 76-88 so it will probably be sunrise -ish. Depends on what pace I can get my wife to do. Lol

    Great video and video production!! I was running when I watched this and it was motivational. It’s a beautiful area that you run in. Now I’m inspired to run a ultra. We have some ultra trial races here in Arkansas. What is a good distance to start with. My longest run is 26.2 miles. Thank you for sharing.

    • @UltraTrailSteven

    Nice video! Question: do you walk most of the uphills on an ultra? Depends on a variety of factors I know. But just want a rough guide to follow if I am doing 50k ultra in Hong Kong with lots of hills, I expect to walk the steepest 20% of it at least but I am an amateur and you are a pro! Keen to know your rough plan for run/walk ratio when doing a race

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well I am certainly no pro, but I do have some experience. In a 50k, I tend to run most hills, unless it’s a course with lots of elevation gain. If the ascent is quite steep, walking is more efficient. In longer races, definitely a lot more walking. It all depends on the individual, their training, base, and goals.
