I served with Foxys Dad in 42 Commando during the early 70's, 2nd lieutenant Peter Fox as he was in those days in N Ireland, a great guy to serve under, easy to see where Foxy gets it from !.
What a valuable thing to hear a man of this capability talk about needing to control yourself. Many people in today's world could well do with watching this, and i hope to retain what i'm learning herein.
Things like anger and fear are often viewed as negative emotions but EVERY emotion is perfectly valid, it's how we react to those emotions that count. I love how one of the first things he said was that he was a bit scared. It takes a strong person to admit that they are afraid of something.
I see the sf people as real philosophers and listening to their mindset advice and taking action has really helped me grow. Really good interview always great listening to this legend. I loved how he handled Hancock that deserves a mention! 😄
Love Foxy! Always listen to any podcast episode he's on. Very informative on men's health and the efforts it takes to be high performing. His special forces stories are great too.
The 10 second rule is very important. After the Air France 447 crash - we brought in a module called Startle and Surprise. The golden rule was to sit on your hands for 10 seconds…don’t rush into a motor response. Great episode again - and Foxy speaks very well on his experiences. His books are definitely worth a read/listen.
Very interesting video, I recently had a stroke, anger, fear my most strongest emotions. Hearing this from the British Elite , gives me a plan, thanks all 👍🇬🇧👌
I find it totally obscene that our Governments disregard our service personnel & throw them on the scrap heap after discharging them when they have served & put their lives on the line for their Country ! They should be ashamed of themselves !...Jason is a legend !!!
Par for the course. We are all just resources for the government to use and dispose of when we're finished. These lads pay the highest though, they deserve the utmost respect.
That was awesome advice. He’s a great ambassador. I’m a 16 year British Army veteran and I wish I’d tried harder and packed more in. If I was as mentally mature as he is now, I could have been a contender! 🤣
Some good simple advice we overlook or fail to carry out because we want to short cut the process. Live your life inside and outside, dont be lazy or short cut. Even if it is a shit boring task dont short cut you are only short cutting yourself and the experience. I am 66 now and my 4 year old granddaughter now lives with me so I have incorporated her needs into my life. Sometimes I find myself short cutting and I have to have a word with myself. If I am tired I need to be more efficient or go to bed earlier/wake up earlier to fit it in. We waste most of the day anyway. Dont leave anything until tomorrow what you can do today as we dont know what tomorrow will bring. This is the real thing Ladies and Gents do it to the best of your ability.
42:34 not usually one to comment, but this is a brilliant question and super interesting to listen to Foxys perspective. Disappointing that the answer was interrupted by an ad, leaves a bit of a stain of what was great content! That's the YT world we live in I guess 🙄
Hi Jason, great point about how you dealt with the fear of heights. I think we all have our coping mechanisms to boost us through varying difficult situations. I like your comments about an emotional stock take, I have had to do that in Lebanon in 2006 unfortunately. If you ever want a chat please feel free to reach out.
There's a book coming out on 6th September that you will not regret reading, Saddling Up Anyway by Martin Cruickshank. It's a brilliant true story about overcoming doubt and fear and realising dreams.
Starting with “I’m scared. You’ve had some big hitters on here”. 😂 The definition of ‘humility’. Not many people out there heavier hitters than tier 1 special forces operators.
I wonder if foxy ever took a troop through lympstone. Id like to hear how he was off some of his nods. I bet he woudl of made a great section cpl. Mine was cpl wildgoose, absolutely mental hard and funny guy.
His experience of being mentored by the older Royal Marine, reminded me of Ian Wright and Mr Pigedon. Young men benefit from that right of passage contact, sadly it seems to be diminishing in modern society.
i'd be brilliant in the SAS. I'd always put my team before me, especially if we we're storming a building filled with armed terrorists because all they'd hear from me is "fu@k off, you go first"...wouldn't last a minute at what special forces do and grateful to them.
Performed 'at a reasonably high standard'!! 😂 He was a fkn Royal Marine, one of, if not the best commando units in the world, then went on to become an SBS operator in the best SF unit in the world. The guy is an absolute legend, a solid bloke and deserves the upmost respect.
Define objective, make a plan, when plan goes to shit, readjust to maintain objective via modified or new plan. Remember it's all about the objective not the plan.
@HighPerformancePodcast there are some really annoying single frame camera cuts, one example is at 35.34.15 They are 1/25th of a second and serve no purpose and are a massive distraction. Can you get the editors to check for this on future releases? Apart from that loving the channel.
I could do him. Lol. Full respect i can't imagine what it's like to be in a proper tear up with many heavily armed fighters trying to kill you and all hell breaking out. I would worry about where and when to take a poo and having a nice sleep and of course dinner. Never had people trying to kill me when i go to work. Good on you sir your an inspiration to many
Question here that hopefully someone can answer as I am conflicted. I am 21 at the moment and I am currently training in preparation to try and join the Royal Marines. I have the qualifications to go in as an Officer so that is what I have been looking at. I am however concerned that going in as commissioned will mean largely a managerial and administrative role for the majority of my career when, at heart I like to be in the thick of it, planning operations or not I prefer to be involved doing the dirty work. I want to make a career out of the military and will probably stay in for a long time. Not sure wether to go Enlisted or Commissioned. I would be very grateful if anyone here as advice regarding my situation. Cheers, Ollie
Hey mate, I had the qualifications to join as an officer but joined as a marine. I don't regret it. Thoroughly enjoyed my time as a grav and wouldn't change it. Your first job as an officer is going to be a troop commander at a unit (Lt to capt rank). You'll be planning everything about your troops life, exercises, annual reports, ops, the works. I've met some class officers in my time who knew how to balance things and have a good relationship with the lads but you have to have a level of separation from the lads to be able to lead effectively. It all depends what you want out of it. Either will set you in good stead for life and nobody but you can make the choice for you. Good luck mate
Go officer if you can mate. If not, you can always get a Corps Commission further on down the road. I think things only become more administrative once you’re at the rank of Major and above. Hope this helps
Guys I know were not out of the field and desk bound until they were above Major. That was Australian Special Forces. SAS ended up a L. Colonel, then got out. Another mate joined Aus Commandos as enlisted, stayed 16 year's, regretted not enlisting as an officer. Partly as too many officers were Flogs! He got stuck with. Go Officer, you will still have many years living in the mud , cold and heat:) One opinion:)
Great podcast but you do exactly the same as every other podcast bar 1 (lex Friedman) and run advertisements midway through your conversations. Be different guys think “high performance” ✔️

Such a down to earth man, oozes humility!
Great video but there is excessive advertising creeping in😢
People need to get paid, big boy.
There's worse problems out there
Those advertisments help pay for the people you see sat in the chair
Buy premium it's amazing no ads. I just forward the in video ads.
Well it does cost over 2 million pounds to train 1 22 trooper
These interviews always seek out the true character, this is a great example as to why these guys are role models.

Met him yesterday, top bloke
Awesome. Wise words.
Fear is the worst emotion. In every life.
I'm reading Foxy's new book now. He's an amazing honest guy.
Learnt important life lessons from this interview
Delay before Anger.
Brilliant 👌 really enjoyed it

What an interview ,amazing stuff..
Thanks guys..
He must get really pissed off everyone saying ex SAS, he’s ex SBS you muppets
FOxy is a legend, he is not like everyone else, his focus and drive is something to me celebrated. as it is with many SF guys.
awesome bloke.
Top interview.
I thought we subscribe to premium to avoid adds!!! That apart a very interesting video, especially for ex service.
the physical really is superhuman, depending how you define it. plus in the forces you are in different restrictions, cultural.

Great talk, very engaging. Sponsor blocker here. You're welcome.
Thought Foxy was ex SBS and not SAS
You’re right, he has never been an SAS soldier. No idea why they used that crappy title.
People who aren't familiar with the makeup of uksf just default to SAS 🤣, talk about not respecting your guest though 😅
Correct, very dissapointed in the lack of accuracy
Get it right guys !!!!
@@robbas_krk1510trooper
Isn’t SBS the same thing as SAS they’re just air / sea . (The same as in elite armed forces)
it goes in one ear and out the other
JASON YOU ARE THE DOGS BULLOCKS 😊
He really is. As down to earth as it gets and there isnt a hint of disingenuous play. I will be picking up his book.
“Inside the SAS” with a man who was never in the SAS 😂
The SBS, equally impressive.

I know what a piss poor incorrect title !!!!!

youve got one of the most elite humans on the planet on your show and you cant even fix these transitions.
Would love for him to get on Shawn Ryan!
Huel ads put me off both trying Huel, and channels pumping the stuff. FWIW.

It's a shame about the advertising. Above all another 'energy' drink...

EX SBS (Special boat service) NOT SAS Special Air service, foxy himself should correct this but chooses not to......
No!!

Interesting apart from the scam artist Bartlett sponsored Hurl ads. The part of this video that hasn’t and won’t age well.
