    The thing that jumps off the screen with Mccarthy is that every time his team needed him to be the guy in critical situations, he delivered every single time. He just turned 21 a couple weeks ago and needs great coaching and reps. If he gets that, he'll be very good.

    This was the single game where I felt his offensive teammates and OC let him down during regulation. He wasn’t great at the start of the game, but as it went on, very little separation, dropped passes everywhere, pressure when there shouldn’t be, and play calls that go nowhere. And he stayed patient, didn’t force much (obviously got desperate at the end) but didn’t turn the ball over, and when it finally clicked into place he won the game. That won’t be pointed out by many, but it’s something Purdy has, which is why he got where he got. Defense and special teams cancelled each other out in this one due to how bad special teams were, so it came down to JJ and he delivered just enough.

      I agree with you. As a Michigan fan I have been watching JJ Mc Carthy for several years and in many big games his receivers don't get much separation and so he is forced to throw in tight windows. JJ is very athletic and has bailed out his team in tough situations. He has great velocity. I can't believe scouts who say he has a weak arm. Im always like buddy have you seen the tape? In the combine his football throw velocity was clocked at 61 mph. That was the second highest. Also he can throw it deep and can throw of the run with some crazy angles. Just watch the throw across his body against Western Michigan in his first year and one can see the amazing talent. Although Michigan was a heavy run offense, without JJ they weren't going to win the national championship!

      I'm an Ohio State fan, so I was naturally a huge hater and didn't want to give McCarthy his due. I watched more Meat Chicken games than I care to admit rooting for Harbaugh and crew to lose...but by the end of the season and playoffs, I could not deny that JJ has an NFL arm, he anticipates well, and I believe he has that "it" factor. I am actually really hoping the Vikings trade up to draft him. That would be my dream scenario.

      As a Michigan fan, I really enjoyed your comments J.J. is the real deal. Playing in Harbaugh's run happy offense, he was often forced to come through in 3rd and long situations and he performed under pressure when he was asked to do so. His greatest quality in my opinion is his ability to perform in pressure situations. I think he will do well at the next level provided he goes to a team that can work with him. I hope he gets good coaching like Harbaugh or Andy Reid types that know how to coach a QB. Best of luck to you and Ohio State next year. I think Ryan Day is a class act and this may be OSU year this next year. GO BLUE!@@aaronfreeman2728

    honest to god Kurt might be my favorite NFL player to follow. him breaking down gameplay and teaching us what it is to be a QB in the NFL is insane. we think we can sit on the couch and yell at players at what to do, but seeing this video completely changed my view on NFL football. thank god for Kurt

    • @user-zr4km5ns8t
      @user-zr4km5ns8t 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You really can't call Kurt Beckert an NFL player. He played 1 game for the Packers in 2021, did not throw a pass & ran the ball twice for -1 yard, which probably means his job was to kneel down at the end of the game. In other words, I have a better stat sheet than he does. Give me a break. Being an ex player...even a good one or a HOF player does not guarantee you know how to effectively judge NFL talent. John Elway is proof of this, a HOF QB who didn't know how to evaluate college quarterbacks. So listening to this guy judge what JJ McCarthy's is doing strikes me as pretty ridiculous. In fact there is an entire cottage industry now of wanna-be scouts trying to break down the NFL draft on TH-cam video channels. Most of them are total garbage. If you want to know how these guys really stack up you have to read what actual NFL scouts say, not some guy who had a cup of coffee with an NFL team & then got cut. I've even seen teenagers now doing draft analysis. I kid you not there is a video out there with a couple kids who look to be about 18 trying to sell themselves as NFL draft experts.
      Enough already.

      The film breakdown is excellent. Very precise. Remember, everyone has natural talents and abilities that they are born with. Scouts are not created equal. Some are better than others. If your mind is analytical then you can be a good scout even if you never played. I played high school football and that was it. Hell, I thought for sure Tom Brady would be the first QB taken and no one in the NFL agreed with that. @@user-zr4km5ns8t

      Analyst, like defensive backs are born and not made. Everyone has talents they are born with. Some people are born with the talent to analyze. If someone watches this breakdown and can't see how accurate the analysis is then you are someone not born with that gift. Some scouts are better than others. They are not created equal. Playing football or not playing has nothing to do with it. Keyshawn Johnson is an even better example than Elway. Keyshawn said his job is to watch football every day and he didn't see one pass by J.J. that made him say wow! Either you know how to analyze, or you don't. I thought for sure Tom Brady would be the first QB taken off the board but not one scout in the NFL felt the same. @@user-zr4km5ns8t

      @@user-zr4km5ns8t Your first argument is just plain dumb. There are about 100 qb jobs in the NFL. He kept one for 4 years. You probably never played qb in middle school, let alone hs, let alone being good enough to play college ball, or even think about maybe talking to an NFL team. Just because he wasn't a good NFL quarterback does not mean he doesn’t know the intricacies of playing at that level. He certainly knows more than the average fan, which is why his content is valuable and entertaining. His word is not gospel, nor is he an expert at evaluating qbs but he knows more than you and 99% of the population. Even NFL scouts are fallible, so their word isn't gospel either. All of pre-draft analysis is speculation anyway, and the only way to know for certain is to see someone’s career play out. But where’s the fun in that? Acting like you can't learn from Kurt about football and what goes into being a quarterback is ludicrous.

    • @user-zr4km5ns8t
      @user-zr4km5ns8t 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aidanparrott1810 First, Kurt Benkert suited up for 1 game with the Packers in which his job was to kneel down at the end of the game. He did not play 4 years in the NFL. Second, even if he had, being a player...even a QB...does not make somebody qualified to break down film of college quarterbacks like a scout. That's why when they hire scouts, they generally don't hire actual players. Finally...the NFL has 66 QB jobs, not 100. Maybe you don't actually watch the NFL. Are you employed by Kurt?
      As for your suppositions about me, they are irrelevant since I am not pushing my ideas on a TH-cam channel. The channel's viewers are encouraged to leave comments and rate the content. That's what I am dong sport. Or do you think that right only extends to somebody who likes the content?

      Everyone sees how it doesn't work to have a good QB without a quality receiver or vice versa. Why not trade for Fields (cheap) & use the #6 pick for one of those top-3 WRs Odunze or Nabers? If they can win without a top WR & those three QBs, imagine what happens with this upgrade?
      If anyone wants to balk at this, _bring_ it. It was suspected that the Bears' lack of on-field talent & play-calling were holding Fields back. Now it's been proven. Fields made the Bears *the #1 offense for 3 straight weeks **_BEFORE_** they acquired D.J. Moore* so the Bears of course stopped calling those plays. His #s passing to Moore are _élite,_ not great, & to Kmet who blossomed this year showing it was indeed the receiver quality, not him.

This offense was what Harbaugh thought his players had the best chance to win with but it won't be the same offense the Chargers run.

    He’s in good hands with KOC & Josh McCown. We just need help on the interior offensive line. B Flo’s defense will be nasty plus we got cheaper and younger. We lucked out with the Dallas Turner pick even tho it cost.
    JJ to JJ for the next 10years!!! We’ll beat CJ Stroud in the Super Bowl in 3-5 years 😂🎉

    If Kurt knows this much as a backup it’s insane to imagine how much you have to know and process to be an elite NFL QB. It’s no wonder a lot of these guys can’t keep up with the learning curve, it can get pretty academic. Easy to see how a less knowledgeable QB could get overwhelmed and then turn into a “bust” ala Mac Jones

    Any chance you can break down some Russell Wilson film in Denver? Would like to get an idea from someone who knows his stuff as to what went wrong. Unless that’s some heat you’d prefer to stay away from, totally understand that.

    4:24 for whatever reason that was Michigan's pass game, 3+ WRs on the same side of the field clustered with bad route concepts praying for jj to make a play and he almost always did

    at 2:21 you said "see if they win" he isn't supposed to see if they win. He is supposed to throw with anticipation. Ball should be out before the Receiver comes out of his break.

    Bro at 15:25 this is what I been trying to tell people that tell me "all he does is hand the ball off" I'm like idk if you just don't watch the game or what but just because that's the type of Offense he ran in college DOES NOT mean he cannot do the "NFL" things well. He's shown that he can, and another comment I read on this vid is that when they put the ball in his hands in critical situations he came up huge time and time again for that MI team. I am a Michigan fan we had some very tough years throughout my life and trust me if I didn't think JJ could be legit in the league I would say it, bnut like you said the kid can play.

    Michigan fan, obviously i love JJ. I think most normal fans dont realize how many NFL concepts they ran at Michigan. They didn't air it out much so JJ didn't really get to get in rhythm throwing the ball much. Think JJ has a good chance to be a good starter at the next lvl

    The throw to Roman Wilson at 27:10 was actually tipped by the Alabama LB who was spying him. They had replays on the telecast that showed it.

    Watched a lot of McCarthy games. I can’t see him making it as a star QB. The NFL defenses are too good to let him run without getting injured and I don’t believe he has enough smarts to figure out the defense before the snap.

    At the 720 mark he hesitated because he was waiting for the go route to clear his man to try and give his reciever an open field to run after the catch. I thought it was perfect. You throw that any sooner the corner comes off his guy and makes the tackle even sooner.

    on the 3rd play - kurt alludes to the fact that mccarthy moved off his first read too quickly, but he was similarly draped before a pretty big push off (offensive p.i.?). why would he stick with that read and anticipate that the TE would free himself in that way before moving on to the 2nd read to see if that was more open? isn't more of a "1 not open, 2 not open, get rid of it" than a "he moved on from his 1st read too quickly?

    In JJ's defense on that incomplete throw around the 12 minute mark, you said that the running back was a good blocker... Blake Corum is good at a lot of things, he is.... sub-par at blocking... he's 5'8"

    I think Michigan knew they could win playing elite defense and a solid running game. Especially since lose one game and you may not make the playoffs in college vs the pros where you can afford to have a few off games. Can't wait to see JJ when he has more chance to play and develop.
