- Featuring Tony! Toni! Toné!
Kid 'n Play is an animated cartoon series based on the real-life hip-hop duo, Kid 'n Play. It ran for one season on NBC from 1990 to 1991. On the show, Kid 'n Play were portrayed as teenagers, but their recording careers remained the same as in real life, as did their character traits. Production was by Marvel Productions.
The real Kid 'n Play appeared in live-action wraparounds of the cartoons, but voice actors took over for the animated versions of the duo. The show stressed positive role models, teaching children how to get along with each other and stay out of trouble.

I loved how they had guest artists to appear on the show every week. Kid n Play didn’t mind sharing the spotlight on their shoe
I just met Play like two weeks ago at my University! He's a really cool guy and very knowledgeable! He mentioned this cartoon and it made me come back to it! Hadn't watched it in years!
House party was a really good movie to
Awesome
I used to watch this as a kid.... Saturday morning cartoons were the best
+Char J Indeed.
Char J you have amazing ears
Grustle Media Very good episode. I liked how Play went back in to help Kid on the Pizza Job & those crooks got punished for stealing Play's music equipment. This was in 1990, the year I was born & i had no idea that Kid N Play had a Cartoon show. I'm learning more about who Kid N Play are. I don't know them that we'll musically.
That's dope man! Glad to share these with a younger generation. Thanks for watching.
Grustle Media If only the fucking background music wasn't so loud
Dude the music is louder than the characters lol.
Yes, sounds was not too good on all episodes, others are better! Thx for watching.
Was it like that when it aired? Or is it just the upload?
The cartoon was re-released through an independent distribution company..They prob re transferred it and loss some sound quality due to it...
True
Well, That's embarrassing.
I miss kid n play cartoon, I used to watch it every Saturday on Channel 7 ABC Tv,
It ran on NBC during the Fall of 1990.
Was the sound mixing always this bad when it aired on TV?
@@MrChaotic4 Yes. I remember. I was in 2nd Grade when it aired on NBC.
Man now this brings back great Saturday mornings when Saturday morning cartoons were worth watching
Brings back a lot of childhood memories
Kid N Play Got This Off😎
(They Were Our Role Models Coming Up ✊🏾)
Oh my god, the production value of this cartoon.
Still, I bet I would've ate this up as a kid, I loved me some House Party.
+Tezian Bryant Yes it was a cool show for the times. Kid 'n Play were very popular.
It’s so bad it’s good
Fun cartoon to watch Saturday mornings! Love Kid and Play. Good memories.
Little known fact, Martin Lawrence(yes THAT Martin Lawrence!) was the voice of Herbie.
Yup you are right, he also voiced DJ Wiz.
i Know.
H-Man 😘
Daniel Scott ☺😃
He made in his debut in their movie too, right?
This came on TV during my senior year of high school. I loved it.
*_"I ain't got no time for you pizza freaks, man!"_*
Every Kid N Play movie they were beefin' with some muscle head in spandex, and apparently the same with the cartoon. lol
Wow, I never knew Kid n Play had a cartoon and another surprise is Tony, Toni, Tone' one of my favs appearing on this episode.
Yeah. They had lots of special guest stars from Salt N Peppa, Tony Toni Tone, Sinbad, MC Lyte, Kool Mo Dee, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J,
[Kid]: "U-- U gon' get Sick... eatin' like that, man."
Lol😄😅😆
Damn.... Remember watching these and Jackson 5 cartoons on Saturday morning! #GoodTimes💕
Enjoy! Sub and check out the rest of the season!
Man i forgot about this cartoon lol
Since it's hard to understand everyone's voices through the loud background music, it's a relief that Martin Lawrence and Cree Summer are 2 familiar voices in this program. And they each voice 2 supporting characters! It's like when Cinema Sins said it was a relief to see Clint Howard's name in House of the Dead. August 15, 2017, 10:47pm
Hey, do you know what Chris Hooks is doing now? I know Brian Mitchell is still acting, but Chris Hooks isn't. August 15, 2017, 10:49pm
I remember this. The Sound Mixing is so terrible, its WORSE than the Felix The Cat movie.
No wonder why I forgot about this show for 27 years.
you can barely hear there voices.lol
Would've been better if the House Party Bullies were the villains.
You mean Full Force
Never knew they had a cartoon out this is dope💛😍
Why is the music so loud tho🥺
Lol! II wish I knew why the sound was a bad as it is, I think it happened when they transferred it somehow. Thx for checking it out, some of the other eps are not as bad.
Instagram,,??
I remember watching this episode with my older brother
This show could have been called a different world the animated series.Because both Cree Summer And dawn Lewis are voice actors on this show.
Facts, it had some of the more popular black actors and actresses at the time.
I’m sure it was a deal with NBC to have sitcom stars to voice the cartoon. Similar to ABC having Jaleel White to voice Sonic the Hedgehog
Omg flash backs....saturdays suck now.....feels like monday lol
I love how the footstep sound effects are just as loud, if not, louder than the already blaring music. Which makes it especially awkward.
14:35 shoutout to “cree summer” voice of Susie Carmichael. I’d recognize her voice anywhere.
CREE SUMMER
Cree's been doing this for a long time. She's the voice of Penny in the original Inspector Gadget cartoon in the 1980s.
She has done this for years
Watched this as a kid, Saturday mornings... I liked it. It was dope!
7:25 I love that music man
Agreed
Very relaxing, very jazzy and very night-like
wow kid n play didnt even do their own voice overs
+smokinnplatez : Nope.
smokinnplatez Jackson 5 didn’t do there own voices neither
it cost to much and too time consuming , especially if you are not vocally trained
MC Hammer didn't do his either.
I watched this cartoon every saturday morning
Remember this as a kid growing up being shown on Channel 4 (UK) but never knew whom Kid & Play actually were till I watched House Party.
tan4eva Those guys were too R rated for the cartoon. Hence the mean machine. Plus they would've had to give permission to use their likeness since they were a music group in their own right
Same
those were them days when I was child yep and before having cable
Oh man, I remember this episode in the live-action segments. Play got sick from eating too much pizza lol
😅😅
I used to love this cartoon
nice theme song
I cry of happiness when i can actually fucking hear
best intro ever
That cartoon foot work 😂😂
Soul food pizza sounds good... They maybe on to something
Kid and play was a good TV show and house party was a good movie
I grew up watching all of that
Hip Hop is still huge like this. I remember this Cartoon
This is AWESOME
Enjoy! check out the rest of the episodes as well...peace
Never missed this i watched every Saturday morning & the new kid's on the block & mc hammer cartoon shows
This is my first time watching this and I got to say I love it 😊
💯💯💯
Happy National Pizza Day 🍕 from Kid 'N Play cartoon
This show is well-drawn animation. There was Alvin and the Chipmunks and Muppet Babies looking animation of this. Nice.
The sound mixing was horrible. This makes House Party look like Citizen Kane :P
House Party is a GOOD movie. Don't make me sick Robin Harris with a Belt on you!
The Sound Mixing on this cartoon is a joke.
There clearly wasn't.
The bumpers on that vehicle are strong
The theme song rocks
They were so cool man
So cheesy yet so good.
I think I had a cartoon crush on Lela and didn't even know it back then. I was 10-11 years old getting read to hit puberty. She was the voice of reason and was head strong. I remember there was an episode focused on her and the girls when they left Kid n Play for a NKTOB knock off group.
Speaking of NKOTB, they had their own Saturday morning cartoon on the same season as Kid and Play.
@@kevinpayton2664 Which did EVEN Worse.
Ain’t no way you found this show man look, I was Cordele Georgia when this show dropped. Good times 🎉
And also Cree summer had did some voice work on this too...
Facts!
Being fair she's basically always been that one voice actress for most African American females. Actually just black females in general.like Phil Lamarr and Kevin Michael Richardson depending on the kind of voice you need
@@firepuppies4086 or the likes of a keith david...
throwback
I wonder why they never reran this cartoon on BET.
Most likely the reception wasn't very good. This was on somebody's worst 90s cartoons list. same calibre as Hammerman.
Yeah Hammerman was terrible.
This could be on BET if they didn't have such loud background music. August 18, 2017, 12:20pm
J Williams The Jackson 5 and The MC Hammer cartoon too.
They only did like 10 episodes - 1 season. Not enough for syndication.
Damn i forgot they they had a cartoon along with every other Magician of the 90s had a cartoon. Time fly when your watching dragon balls and pokemon.
12:15 I have to admit, this is a pretty good song despite it being very short.
Tony Tone Toni Wtf
I don't remember the soundtrack being this loud over the dialogue on Saturday Morning. NBC must have done some final sound adjustment with the sound.
I think it was the company that redistributed the 1 season they had..Some of the others have better sound.
Waaaaait!
I didn't know abt this cartoon!
Enjoy it! Thanks for checking it out...
My favorite cartoon starting my two idol
The Best
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Ding Dong
Pepperoni Mushroom Pizza 🍕 🍄 🍕
I recorded this on VHS
Pepperoni Mushroom Pizza 🍄 🍕
The voice over for Play was voiced by Brian Stokes Mitchell.
Kid ‘N Play Know How To Carry a Tune More than their Dance steps And Martin Lawrence Was the voice of Herb and This Cartoon didn’t Last that Long I like it when Tony! Toni! Tone! Play were shoving the pizza in the face and I got so full and then kid told him he could get sick eating that which was funny
Got to love Cree Summer
I remember this
DingDongVG brought me here 13:17
These two are goofy on stage, on the big screen, and in animation form
Wow...Pitbull's voice is even harder to understand than Rasticore from the Star vs. the Forces of Evil episode Gift of the Card. August 15, 2017, 10:50pm
Haha cute 😍
Classic I rememebr watching this hate it got cancelled
You hear those beats mann
This show is reminiscent to how clubs are today. Music is so loud you can’t hear anyone you’re talking too lol
Damn. Throwback
i haven't seen this cartoon since i was a kid. do you have any more episodes?
That's what I was wondering
+Brandon F H-Man More to come thanks for the subs and watching.
Grustle Media No Problem.
+H-Man New episode dropping today.

Oh Darn i was right on key with martin🤣
This kind of reminds me of that show Static Shock.
1:28
Close your eyes and listen to this
"I got us a gig at the Silver Sewer!"
"WHAAAT?"
"THE SILVER SEWER."
"WHAAAT??"
"WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE TURN DOWN THE SOUNDTRACK?"
Yeah the mixing is total shit.
Gogo swangin
Shenehneh brought me herer

I didn't know they made the cartoon of it
Yup, thx for checking it out man...9 episodes up so far.
Ppl dont even realize Martin is a voice in here but what's odd is that kid n play didn't do their voices
Yea, interesting to say the least. However, they were featured on all the live wrap around shoots.
Kid N Play were touring and making films
"Incidental" Music indeed....
pause at 14:28 it's so weirdly hilarious
Parappa the Rapper 3 looks great
