Hi, Sue Ellen- how lucky you are to live 15 minutes away! We are excited to hear of another mom-daughter pair who will be there. Maybe we will meet you- look for Kate in outfit #5... Thanks for you feedback!
Hi, My wife and our two kids will be there too. I'm just finishing up our costumes, and I'm nervous because we scrapped the one we were making for my wife and started over today. I went thrift hunting again today and found some great curtains which will be my wife's new tunic. I'm so glad. It looks way better. I think the green dress could work if it was cut down the sides and the front and ALL the hemmed edges were raw and washed. I would then wrap a long belt over that and blouse it up a bit. Then pair it with the gray/green scarf. I think that would be a good look. We'll look for you there. Thank you for making this.
Hi, Roger- we had planned to do exactly what you suggested with the green dress. Great minds think alike, lol. However, it turned out that having that extra layer was just going to be too hot for a day out in the TX sun. Like you, we had to scrap that plan and start over. We are so excited that the big day is coming up. We hope to meet you and your family while we're there. Have a safe trip!
I had fun seeing your process of putting your looks together for the filming of The Chosen! I think 6 and 7 were two of the best outfits - you both look good!
So best one for Kate after watching again. Look 5!! 2and best for Kate look 7. No Han Solo vest for either of you. Lol.. for Jennifer look 8 was best maybe with some alterations. But actually for Jennifer the ending closing part of video that combo looks really good. That's my vote!!
Lol- yep, no Han Solo vest for either of us. Jennifer's final look wind up being a combo of several looks in the video. we would love to be extras again!
I'd avoid multiple layers because of the heat, and the pinks are a little incongruous with the time period. I really like the 'Han Solo's Jewish grandma' outfit haha. Look 5 is beautiful too. :) I like Look 9, but I think it would look better without the vest.
Thanks for your input, Bee! Kate is pretty set on #5. Several people have liked the Han Solo vest, so maybe we need to rethink that one, lol. You are so right about the multiple layers- we are going to have to be careful with that!
I love your last look, Jennifer! The one at the end of the video. I also loved your Han Solo look. I can't not see Han Solo's mom now in that navy vest now though. 😂 I love the pale blue/grey for Kate...you just looked so comfortable in that one. I never even thought about eye glasses! This got a conversation started with my kids...about when glasses were invented and what people did without them. I actually didn't know either! Awesome work!! I love this series!!
Thanks, Amber! Jennifer is still at the drawing board for her costume, but Kate is leaning hard towards to the pale blue/gray. It has been so much fun to work on this project. The Chosen sent us a new costume guide this week, and that has opened up a whole world of possibilities, so we'll see. Maybe we'll go Syrophoenician (once we figure out exactly what that is, lol).
Definitely like the more minimal looks like #5 and #7! Ooh and i like what you guys were wearing at the end too. Keeping it simple: the dress and head cover should be the main part with non-distracting (and preferably matching) belts, jewelry, and bags. I think you guys have great material, it's just about how you arrange it!
Thank you for your input! Kate is definitely thinking #5. Simple will be better, also, for the weather. It could be pretty warm on the day. Minimal is a good thought to keep in mind :)
You guys are hilarious! Thanks for your efforts, it really helps us trying to figure this outfit when we are on our own. Love both of the scarves at the end of your video.
Definitely look number 5 for Kate and I hate to say it but I like the Hans Solo grandma look, number 2 for Jennifer. No pale pink, the striped pink did a little more for Jennifer than Kate but not sure about the overall look. I didn't think the orange was too orangey, but the whole outfit wasn't working... for me anyway. I think the bags look great. Kudos on your creativity.
Thanks, Ann. Lol- agree that the whole orange outfit wasn't working. It was helpful to try on different looks for the video and see how they looked on camera as well as in real life. The Han Solo vest may get nixed for being too modern looking, but it was very comfortable to wear (once we got over the Han Solo-ness of it all and could stop laughing...) We think Kate will go with look #5
You girls are so much fun! For Kate, definitely #5. Jennifer, I agree with the subscriber said the pieces you ended the video in. I don't care for the candy cane scarf or the pink baby blanket in the Red Riding Hood's grandma look. I agree the green dress looks more suitable for the middle ages. I can't wait to see what y'all come up with.
We just got a new costume guide from The Chosen, Michelle, and that has opened up another world of possibilities! We can be gentiles this time- Greeks or Romans. Kate is pretty happy with her look; I may have to go Greek, lol
This was a fantastic video thank you for posting. Unfortunately I really liked all of what you had, very chosen like. The bag made from the thrift shop was genius, but the ones you made were awesome! I will be do the extra on Season 5 in April. Can you tell me what it was like living the extra life 😀
Hi, Barbara- you will have a fantastic time! The staff and crew were so friendly and helpful. One thing we would do differently is to bring a book to read while on set. There is a lot of down time, a lot of waiting. That is expected and not a problem, but having a book to read would have helped pass the time. We look forward to seeing all the extras in season 5!
Hi, Cathie- we did! It's hard to believe it was already a week ago. It was pretty warm out there, but it was such a blessing to be part of it all. How did the day go for you and your family?
I'm trying to figure out my 1st century outfit also and it was great fun watching you two! Great ideas! and here's my thoughts: I think the pink and the candy cane colors are too much. I think the bag could have more color and that would help with the solid color "dress". I also think the bag needs to hang a bit lower on your hip. I will definitely borrow the "fried fish and toast" humor- love it! On that note, I would go with the lightest weight layers for the sake of the heat. I'm hoping I run into you two there- you feel like friends already! 😀
Hi, Cathy! Thanks for your insight. Adding some color to the bag is a great idea... maybe some type of trim so it just doesn't blend into the robe? It has definitely been a fun project working on the costumes. Good luck with yours- we hope to see you there!
Really enjoyed your video. Just found your channel today. I, too, am an extra for F5K. Really liked the rust or olive colored scarves (used for head covering and shawl/dress adornment). Both of your base long tunics seem to be working well. My favorite piece was the pillow cover bag that you made. I have crocheted two bags out of macrame rope. Not sure whether either one will work, but hopefully one will fit the first century handmade bags genre🤞🏼. Look forward to your next video. I’m tempted to do one on my TH-cam channel, but I’m not the seamstress you are and I’ve had to go with a store bought long base tunic.
Hi, Meema- we are so glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for your input- it has been a fun adventure getting everything together. Crocheting bags is a great idea, especially with the macrame rope. The day is getting closer and closer; maybe we will see you there!
Hi, Earl- the sign up for this event is closed last year on Dec 31, but The Chosen does regularly use extras, and they do have casting calls for them. If you follow The Chosen on IG or FB, sometimes you will see opportunities posted there. That is so much fun that you make costumes; we have had a lot of fun with ours! Thanks for watching :)
Wow, we are just about to get started looking for things and I'm beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed (I do NOT sew!!) ..... I hope my daughter and I are able to find enough pieces to pull it together!!!!
Hi, Sue- with the new costume guide, there are so many options that we can choose from now. You and your daughter are bound to find something that looks great! Plus- there is still plenty of time to work on it. It's fun to know another mother and daughter pair going to the F5K!
@@catholicmomanddaughter we are looking forward to it! Did our first real mother/daughter trip in 2020 (yes, during the pandemic!) and are looking to be able to make it an annual or bi-annual event!!
Hello! Number 5 is a favorite here, too. These costumes are all handmade with items we bought at thrift stores and robes we sewed from old sheets. We did have a lot of fun putting them together. Amazon has similar robes, scarves, veils, etc, so that would be a good place to start looking. Thanks for watching!
Which look is your favorite? Let us know in the comments.... thanks for your feedback!
Look 5 was nice! My daughter and I will be there, too! We're preparing for hot. We live 15 minutes from the filming site and June can get pretty warm!

Hi, Lorraine- we did! We had a lot of laughs along the way. Thanks for watching :)

Thank you! We had a lot of fun with this whole process... it has been journey for sure :)

Thanks, Janet! We do have a lot of fun (lots of laughing at our house), and we are so glad the video was helpful. Hope we see you there!
I need to watch again but for Kate I believe look 6 was the one I like best for her. The one she liked the most

What's kind of material are the robes made from
The robes are old bed sheets, so they are 100% cotton :)
