The volume mentioned above takes place in a time where Lori’s soul is able to remember the powers of the magic users she encountered in the past, and rather than steal them, she was able to call them forth, with Raven’s empathic abilities being one of them.
That’s because of 2003’teen titans. She was more of a psionic entity rather than having spell casting. 2003 teen titans made her so popular that now they pretty much made her closer to Scarlet Witch and such. It’s cool

But raven held him back all these years even as a child before teenager, even when he broke free once she was the only one that could stop him (starfire helped a bit but not really). So she took a archdemon. Put him into a shard of a containment crystall And put said crystall in her forehead to strenghten the containment. And the demon keeps trying to take over her body. So basically the storyline of Diablo 2 :)
