- In this week's episode of The Simifer's Bali vlog, we show you how we renovated a villa in Canggu, Bali. Watch till the end for the incredible before- and after footage of Villa Naia!
In the end of 2019, Bali had more tourism than ever, and we decided to invest in a property in Canggu.
We finalised the deal in February 2020, and as soon we were done, Indonesia shut its borders. It would be almost two year until Bali started seeing the arrival of tourists again.
We took our time and completely rebuilt the villa, and we are super proud and happy with the result!

Hi. can you please share your exp and advise what permits you need for refurbishment like your with some minor structural works ?
With this villa we bought the entire lease from the developer who built it, so we own the building. So there's no limitations on what upgrades we can do.

I like how it use window as natural light.....saving energy mean saving cost....and maybe u can add solar panel....its quite cheap. 1 solar panel can use for 2 room.

I was told foreigners aren’t allowed to own properties/businesses in Indonesia. How did this work for you?
Foreigners can lease properties. They can also own businesses which in term can own properties
Exactly only Indonesian citizens can own property hak milik or freehold. Foreigners can enter into long leaseholds with Balinese property owners or they can set up a PT/PMA and, although it’s a leasehold still, the terms are 30 + 20 + 30 so it would potentially be for a longer term (as long as the law doesn’t change)
