  • This video shows Difference between Column and Shear wall.
    Column is basically designed as a compression member, while shear wall are mostly designed for lateral loads.
    Columns are less earthquake resistant while shear wall have high earthquake resistant.
    Columns are normally provided at the end of rooms, while shear walls run along the length of wall. For more details please watch full video.

    There's a big mistake
    The ratio is more or less than 4 not 0.4

      yesss when we have shear wall 3m/0.2m=15>4 its ok about colum 0.6/0.2=3

    Are these clause such as b/w more than 0.4 , no of storeys more than 20 floors are mentioned in IS codes or ASTM?
