Folk music of the Soviet Union the Soviet Army, Chorus, Band and Dance Ensemble performs a wide variety of Russian dances and songs.
This rare and historic program was filmed on location in the former Soviet Union The brilliant ensemble consisted of about 200 entertainers including a choir and choreographic troupe, who traveled the front lines, entertaining Soviet troops by performing more than 1500 concerts during World War II.

I first saw the Red Army Band at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Garden in 1969. They weren’t able to perform in the USA due to the Cold War. I remember this song during the concert but was unable to see the balalaika player Foektistov up close because I was sitting high up in the nose bleed section of the arena. I was only eight years old back then but I still remember him playing this song. Thanks for posting this. He is a musical genius.

Всегда восхищалась оркестром русс.нар.инструментов ансамбля. А балалайка же это просто чудо, сыграно великолепно, виртуозно. Браво! Камаринская, так и тянет в пляс. Огромное спасибо, за доставенное удовольствие и память.

Thank you for posting, the solo work is amazing, for a man of that age as well! Of course the rest of the musicians are doing so well but it's just such a great example of the balalaika. Plucking, plinking playing with one hand, rapid dynamic changes. Yeah, there were quite a few balalaika dance tracks when I was at the Russian Festival in town, and this was some of the best music in the world. Now if only they wouldn't be so expensive, I would have gladly gotten one and practiced a few Russian dance tunes on it.

ammm754321 Как балалаечник, скажу, что именно как Б.С.Феоктистов сейчас мало кто может сыграть. Я имею ввиду артистизм. Такие артисты, как Алексей Архиповский, Андрей Горбачев, Александр Данилов безусловно превосходят Феоктистова по технике. Я пробовал поставить правую руку, как у Феоктистова-играть чисто и красиво, как Он-очень трудно...
