From Waste to Energy: New Perspectives for the Coffee Sector using Pyrolysis Technology

The pyrolysis plant, which valorizes agricultural waste, provides two main products. Energy, which can be used for drying purposes and the by-product biochar, which can be applied as soil enhancer.
The technology can improve global coffee production in terms of productivity and quality but it also shows big potential to be transferred to other agro-industrial sectors as rice, cashew nut or pepper. The workshop has created the basis that the participants can now implement this technology in their local context. This will bring progress towards a more sustainable development of the agro-industry.
