    Diode doesn't matter direction...
    Great video

You are correct that in this case the polarity of the diode doesn't matter.

Oh no...a cliffhanger! I built one as a kid. It amazed me

Thanks George. I'd recommend builders not wind the coil right away. It is highly desirable to have tapping points about every 15 turns to allow both antenna and diode connections to be optimised. This will help separate stations if you're using a good antenna.

I'll second Peter's suggestion and recommend builders tap the coil every 10 or 15 turns. It does make things a little more complicated however the improvement in performance makes it well worth doing 👌

Reminds me of an AM radio I had when I was 8, No battery, no power, just clip in wire to the bed spring put in the earpiece and tune the little screw on the top of the little 1.5-inch x 1-inch funnel looking thing and hear local AM radio. lol

If you use a small torch, and heat the wire enamel- sandpaper will come off easily.

Nice video. I may build this with my two girls an their friends in their homeschool setting. We built 2 donated guitar effects pedals last school year (earlier this year). They really liked the end results of hearing the effects that they had a hand in putting together. You should include a link in the description. Although not hard to find, one click to take us to an affiliate link at MFJ would be awesome.

I meant to do that. It's in the description now.

What is the name of those clips?
Also would soldering affect the function?

Those are Fahnestock clips. Soldering won't affect the function but might make better connections.

Thanks. I have made a couple crystal / trench / foxhole radios. All were fails. Wondered if clips were the issue. Thanks a million. KO4EMH
