This 1979 parade drive just seen text me back to my first year in Washington state. But I would see it all the time. And now here it is 42 years later and it still looks good and sounds good after all those years.
Marched the 1979 parade with the Mcdonald's All American Band, Alto sax Alaska , 25:14 the camera pans real fast, but you can see myself and then Jeff "Super Hut" Huddleson from Greenville, South Carolina
I was only two years old, when that happened.... I was living at my mom's house on Maple Street in Brooklyn.......1979: 43 years ago............................... And I was just too young to remember... But this is the greatest 1979 ever.... The only thing I wish to see was the fuller version of this 1979 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.... RIP Ed Mc Mahon
14:54 Winchester Community HS resembles Santa Clara Vanguard. 16:53 Colquitt County HS was a ringer for the Troopers, and likely got their VIP tour of the White House through their fellow Georgia resident, Jimmy Carter. Corps style was taking the band world by storm by then.
I’m hoping that someday someone will find the full parade! I’m searching for a possible copy myself. If I ever get my hands on one I’m definitely uploading it. If not here, on internet archive
@@shanemiller7697 he said he got it from a trade, and considering that someone else posted an identical video to this 8 months ago, I'm betting he's the one who traded that copy to him. And since he only had those 34 minutes, I'm gonna assume that thats all this channel has as well
Back in 1979 I would drink six martinis and smoke a pack Winston lights the me and the old lady would pack the kids in the station wagon and head to the parade. Them was the days when us fellas had it made.
This was the year that the infamous Johnny Carson - Doc Severinson exchange the night before on The Tonight Show when Doc refers to Ed McMahon as delivering his alimony checks "in person" - to his ex in NY. Johnny brings up the "tie askew and nose aglow" photo of Ed that appeared that week in the NY Post. One of the funniest unscripted moments in TV history - th-cam.com/video/d55S9EYtHbw/w-d-xo.html

The opening routine by the Northbrook Bandoleras was done to the tune of NBC's "We're Proud" jingle, which was parodied as "We're Loud!"
41 years later and the first two guys are still on TV.
i saw sandy duncan when she starred in peter pan in 1979. great performer :)
Thanks For Sharing!
Finally found a copy Was in Northbrook HS Marching Band

Wow, I was born on this day
Aired on Thursday, November 22, 1979.
30:59 they’re hooting and hollering for ya, Santa
As NBC did the 85th Thanksgiving Parade, they showed a clip 32:29-32:34
WOW! 34 Minutes and 24 seconds! Amazing!
I’m hoping that someday someone will find the full parade! I’m searching for a possible copy myself. If I ever get my hands on one I’m definitely uploading it. If not here, on internet archive
Sounds like Bill Wendell (Late Night with David Letterman announcer) in the intro.
Santa Claus had a wardrobe malfunction at that parade.
McDonald's band at 24:34, fun times!
Recorded from WFMJ-TV 21 Youngstown, OH
Wish you could show all of the parade.
he doesn't have the full parade
@@sferlmgpikrejgoijirogj I doubt it because the video is only 34 minutes the parade lasted about 2 hrs.
