    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    My opinion of Survival Lilly. ......
    Shes not a survivalist but a businesswoman /billboard.
    She came on the scene as a semi pretty girl with a quirky accent.
    This aura has been eroded by her basic lack of knowledge and skills.
    Giving out advice on things she knows nothing about or just Googled.
    This can be seen how she handles tools of the trade,and the stance she takes when working. She seems not to of heard of an axe,or is to scared to use one.
    700,000+ subs yet struggling to get 100,000 views.
    Viewers have seen through the click bait titles and thumbnails.
    Paid promotions thinly disguise as survival vids. These seem to have dried up recently. Companies do the want to be associated with her.
    Always contradicting herself. Stating AUS-8 is a poor steel for a knife. Yet makes her super knife from it for super profit.
    She said" I always cut off lanyards " yet a lanyard is dangling from her saw.
    Her character is to make as much money as possible. Even it it means taking advantage of her gullible fans.
    She's a spoilt,arrogant brat,and an anger management course would do her the world of good.

      Oŕson Cart she may lack some skills/experience.
      She does give it ago, and produces some nice videos.
      You don't have to buy her knife,if it's to expensive for your pocket.
      Calling he a "spoilt,arrogant brat" is out of order.

      @@audreyforbes-hamilton5685 I take it you did not read the comment SL posted in the defence of her knife .
      The first paragraph was to highlight the positives of her knife. Which DBK had shown in the video were actually negatives.
      The second paragraph was a vindictive, nasty,childish attack on DBK.
      The third paragraph was her whinging and whining about the cost of putting a knife into production. Which was point out to her all these cost should of been taken into account in her business plan. If they were that high why didn't you scrap the project.
      So after taking some criticism, which she doesn't take well being the arrogant brat she is. She deleted the post.
      Using her best survival tool /tactic the delete key.
      Please start seeing through this fraudulent faker tuber.

    When working on the straight portion of the blade, how do you keep it straight and even? Sometimes when using the push-pull method or trying to convex them edge I feel like I’m removing a lot of steel very quickly. If I lay the edge of the knife on a flat surface I can see areas where light is coming through.
    I used to have issues with changing the belly line but saw how virtuovoice fixed that issue and have followed his advice.
    I find that doing the cutting strokes for a secondary v-edge is the easiest way to make sure I’m not altering the blade too much. I do prefer the results of the convex edge and have no issue getting my knives insanely sharp. I just don’t want to remove excessive amounts of steel or change the shape of the blade by mistake.

    I sharpen my knifes by putting them in my butt crack and pulling upward 107 times. Serious question to anybody: Can a folder with G10 scales be altered with a Dremel without making it look like a Fucked up mess? I really adore my Ontario knives Rat 2 except for the thumb release area near liner lock. I want to hog out this area because I really like to use my Dremel and my fat American thumb has a hard time picking up the liner lock release to close it. It pisses me off when I have to use another finger just to get the thing shut. So if I use Dremel on G10 can it be sanded to look proper? Thank you in advance for your help!

    ok, you say keep edge softly on stone, is that the whole v edge or the apex, i don't think you mean for the apex to touch, you never mentioned a burr, does the end result mean, just one primary edge with a polished / stropped apex, no secondary at all? years back in 80's old timers called the first original grind secondary, and the what is called a secondary edge today was called a primary then. b/c that was the edge that did the cutting, but back then , nobody knew of convex, an old timer, maybe moran , called his edge an apple seed edge

  • @crusader5989

    Nice video, however the technique for the convex is bot very clear. I mean the movement lf the blade over the stone. It is a continuous and gradual tilt as you drag the blade across the stone.

    Wrong 8:09 Don't let the blade exeed the stone surface,stop before because that way you dull the tip of your blade.Also the fingers that apply a bit presure and hold the blade on the stone, must be spread all over the blade length and not only near the tip of the blade. Sharpening is 20% Knowledge and 80% Experience,so keep practicing people.Cheers

    Can someone point out the difference between Convex and Scandi-vex grinds I really can't get it?

    • @nils-ph3zs
      @nils-ph3zs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scandivex has a lower angle than the convex. But the main difference is that the convex Grind is alot thicker and has more meat behind the edge....you can search for pictures where convex is compared to scandi (... you just have to imagine that the scandi is a little more convex around the edge)

    Scandivex? I like the look of that. I have been doing V edge for 17 years, LOVE my Wicked Edge Pro Pack 3 (had to save a lot), but now see I need to try this. This is my favorite channel now. Lol. Bravo guys.

    Is it true that the finer grit stone the weaker the edge , because I heard people say about my butcher knives not to use above a 3000 grit because it weakens the edge and will dull fast

    • @nils-ph3zs
      @nils-ph3zs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it does not get weak, but a very fine edge will dull faster than a toothy edge.

    Hey guys. When I try to sharpen my convex edge knife, I have trouble trying to maintain the edge without flattening the grind. How can I sharpen my convex edge better?

    • @elliottlee4413

      Should I rock the blade back and forward to keep the rolled edge? How do I properly sharpen a convex edge?

    • @nils-ph3zs
      @nils-ph3zs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elliottlee4413 just keep your hand very loose.. its easy if you just go quite fast and use the whole stone surface

    Agreed guys, a well sharpened SCANDIVEX hardly ever needs to be sharpened and only stropped after a good use. The only time I want a true scandi is when whittling and detailed carving usually with a small neck knife. I think the best knife for carving is the Mora Eldris and if you give that knife a scandivex and new wood handle its wicked good for skinning small animals.

    I don't understand. How are you managing to keep a convex grind if you're keeping the blade at 10-15 degree each side. Do you adjust the angle on every pass?

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The slight fluctuations of each slide makes the convex. If every slide has a slightly different angle between 10-15c you'll get a convex somewhere in between. If you keep your wrists loose it'll get convex automatically.

    Hey DBK! Thanks a lot for the video! I just have one question, when you sharpen convex, do you keep the same pressure all the time? Or do you apply pressure when going away from the edge only? 🤙

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All the time. I also use more pressure when I start with the stone and lessen the pressure slowly while finishing with the stone
