    That's the classic case of " I'll do that later" just putting lugs on by hand and then weeks later finding out the hard way. My lesson was on my first motor rebuild as an apprentice. I did everything so carefully and by the book on a 4cylinder MG motor. Got it all done and in the car and it ran perfect. The customer came and got the car and 2 days later he called and said the engine seized. Car was towed back and not a drop of oil in it- during my rebuild I had put the drain plug in the pan by hand and then cleaned and painted it, and when I put it together I just never checked it. After a couple days of driving the plug eventually came out and the customer lost all the oil. I had to pay the cost and do the labor to repair the engine and from that day on, I never put any bolt in by hand without fully tightening it and I never stopped for lunch halfway through an operation.

    Great to the Essex as a roller. It's got a great stance. The roadster pickup is looking better and better. Bodywork is a tedious job and often difficult to focus on. Having these side projects is a good thing. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.

    I really like the way this is turning out, Brent. It’s got some very cool lines. You’ve had probably more than your fair share of ups and downs on it, but it is definitely coming together in a really good way. Thanks as always. You upload so much more than most of the other guys I watch and its absolutely fantastic. 😊👍👍

    Body work is the most thankless job , Its never perfect , nor is the car as it comes from the factory . You do a terrific job on your builds and know when to say enough . You have a one off body style , created in your mind , built with you own hands and it is a thing of beauty . Thank you for including us in your tasks to see this truck to completion , God Bless you and yours , keep smiling , Stuart in Ontario ..

    All edges could still use some work. Plastic filler still shows pinholes and rough edges. I truly admire all of your work on different projects, but for some reason I would like to see this one a little better finished. Take a break from it and come back later when the old drive comes back. Was glad to see Ryder the other day. God bless you and your family. By the way this is my favorite channel.

  • @notajp
    @notajp หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    As the old saying goes; far from good, but good from far! Ryder may regret that engine swap on the quad. I did something similar several years ago with an old Yamaha shaft drive utility quad. I switched out the rear suspension for a chain drive swing arm setup, and put a Suzuki GS550 four cylinder in it. I went with the biggest rear sprocket I could get, and it was still waayyy too fast. This thing was just scary fast! Fourth gear was as far as you wanted to push it,and fifth was unusable at all. My buddy and I agreed that one of us was likely to get killed on it, so I ended up trading “Quadzilla” off to some young kid who wanted it really bad……

I would roll it on heavy , guid coat it , first sand would be 80 grit till all the black was gone then 220 if I went sand threw put a little more and sand again it was like paint on putty. 😉

    A two fold problem is if fixed like a make it new again, your weather and roads will kill it anyway. That said, as I see it, replacing panels or doing some replacement panels would be easier to do than sand for a week on a project. Ryders spoiled to the max or if he worked on his four wheeler in a outdoor space in the weather, maybe that tiny shop with extension cords for power might just make a engine last a touch longer. I spoiled my kids so does it really harm anything but his pocket book. The 56 buick will probably be a long time before visited by Ryder. Its not high on his priority list as being too young to still drive on the highways that I question if any law exists anywho. Looking forwards to seeing it in colors and a top that might just make the build super cool

    Back in the early 1970's, I worked in a mechanics garage repairing cars. The garage was rented on the land of a car body shop which specialised in Rolls Royce and top marque Citroen body repairs. When we were short of work (my bnoss and I) we helped out in the body shop rubbing down the body work on the cars. They used Stopper (a brown stuff) which I suppose is called Putty now-a-days, Easier to sand down than filler. I used to watch the body repairers prepare some cars while I was on a break .They had thick primer and painted on with a brush and then wiped the side of their palm over it which spread it and dried it quicker. Never did know how that worked, but the primer just needed a slight rubbing down and then it was the rest of the primers before the colour coats. I have hated bodywork ever since those days. I just prefered spanner work.
