I'm about 45 days into my latest stalker run, and I've already been to Coastal Highway. Looks like I'll be heading back because I didn't know this was a thing! Thanks for the vid
Very useful info. I had to learn about beachcoming by trial and error as there was no guide like this to give me the basics. My first time to Coastal Highway, I was afraid to go out on any part of the ice as I was scared of running into weak ice, especially after my run-ins with it in the Muskeg. It took me a while to figure out that most of that ice shelf is safe, except for bands of weak ice along the edge of the shelf and the sea.
I have before, though that was some time ago. They may have changed that in an update but there's been no mention of it. I've also done precious little beachcombing in recent times so I don't have fresh info on that either. I do know it was possible before.
=O =O I didn't know those were actually items you could get!!! I routinely would see stuff there but it always seemed like it was impossible to get there, so I assumed that they were actually rocks and not items and that it was just a thing they put at the edge of the ice.... will have to try... though I might have to load up my non-interloper run to try =D
I only think so if you're overweight, but I haven't done too much testing on the subject. The reasoning for being lightweight is that if you're at or below the weight limit, you don't have a movement speed penalty. As you go over the weight limit, you begin to encounter a movement speed penalty.
You should be able to use the decorative hockey sticks to hook your item and fling it to you so you spend less time on weak ice. And if you were good enough, you hit one intem into another, flinging them onto hard ice. You should also be able to crawl on weak ice to spread out your weight and be able to drop your backpack.
Thr best way to do this is always carry around a few peices of coal because sometimes the ambient temperature is so low that your wet clothes cause you to freeze even near a fire, if your outside temperature is -20 you need a fire of atleast 100 degrees which requires coal
Game certainly isn't dead mate! Still getting regular updates, and has a pretty active player base! But it is indeed a great game, and I can't wait to see how much further the team at Hinterland takes it!
Lonelywolf look up the long dark and look how many uploads was from this week and the ones that are in this week are in Russian and have very low views and the besides that it’s just game updates from hinterland.
@@Lonelywolfofficial might be better than freezin you noogies off yeah! Watched a cut the other day where a guy had tons of meat out on de lake...stripped off everything but his drawers and boots had a fire in de fishing shack....went and got the kill and hauled it back across the ice...dropped it at the shack door and suited up and got warm😂
I didn't even know things washed up on shore
Now you know!
I didn't even know there was a placement mode! So glad there is. My camp needs a redecorating haha
I use the wiki often, noticed items on the beach one time but I never thought this even was a THING until this video.
Wow.
So that's why I've seen random items near the edge of the ice! I saw some shoes around there and thought that was just a glitch!
Nope! You might want to return and snag em!

You're welcome!
I was genuinely concerned that bows would not be renewable because the saplings don’t grow… but they do, just on the beach!!!
I played 1000 hours of this game and I didn't even know this was a thing. I always just stayed away from the shore.

Well, here's the guide! (not that it took a year to make, don't listen to the fanatics...)
@@Lonelywolfofficial LOL, it took you less time to get out your "how to swim in the long dark" video then it did this one! :P
Shhhhh
@@Lonelywolfofficial What, you mean keep quiet about your HOW TO SWIM IN THE LONG DARK video? OK. :P
I never even knew it was a thing... thanks.
You're welcome!
Hearing you talk about " jumping right in" made me think straightaway of the swimming comments you get from Spacejeans & Elkalice on your streams. LOL
Heheee, Shhhhh you'll summon them to the comments section.
How can be heavy prybar washed on beach xD
TLD physics man... Water must have the power of magneto or something idk.
Really you can find already cured saplings. Hmm ok cool.

Yay it is finally here!! Great video!
Been playing for 5 years had no idea this was a thing haha thanks for this
Didn't even know this existed!
Now you know!
Wow, this is useful!
Glad you liked it!
Wanted to thank you for these informative videos wolf! Yeah this is a wonderful surprise. Had no idea things washed up. Thanks
You're very welcome!
This makes more sense now… I saw a black thing on the ice in DP and I thought it was a visual glitch lol.
A good thing about dropping your clothes is that you know where to head back. I once crashed into the ice because I was running along the shore...
2:43 how are you 0.00lbs on that backpack with all those items? hhmm
I'm curious to see if the new crampons will help with beachcombing.
little late, but a trip to the wiki says: Yes! increases time to fall into ice from 5 seconds to 6 :)
Thank god scrap metal spawns on the coast.
Great video!
What is your day survived record?
I've been playing the game for 6 years now, and I didn't even now this was existed

Hello there! While staying on weake ice, does the total weight you're carrying on affect the time you can stay on weak ice before it breaks?

@@Lonelywolfofficial Thank you for the answer!
@@andrewwilliams8331 Im pretty sure it's just fixed 5 seconds.
And +1 sec if you have crampons
Thanks for the info!! I was wondering tho about how long can you stand on weak ice before you fall in?
Depends a bit on your weight I think, but about five seconds!
theoretically,we can survive forever?
Yeah, if you're lucky!
@@Lonelywolfofficial especially when we are skilled and we have beachcombing.
thank you

me: go swimmingggg
Wasn't falling into the water at the beach an instant kill?🤔
Never was an instant death, but certainly worse than it is now.

Does this work in 2020?
Absolutely!
I thought antibiotics don't show up on the beach
You pronounce beachcombing like beachcoming. You comb the beach for items. There is no such thing as coming the beach
I know how to pronounce it, its just that sometimes via the way I speak I run over consonants and they become silent. It's a bad habit of mine.
