If they say no, then ill reply " Then why do you want to know how much i spent?" What i spend is my business. I know of some ppl spending over 100 dollars on a pair of jeans. Id never pay that for myself. But i keep that comment to myself. The money they spent didn't come out of my pocket so it's none of my business. I don't like it when ppl nose into my business.

I will be getting my Maine Coon kitten around June. She is costing me $1700 which I did have to save up for and don't regret it. I have always wanted a Maine Coon and now that I am almost 70 I figure this is pretty much my last chance. I am not going to be living forever so yes...for me this is worth it.

And people spend that amount on things that can’t give them any love, companionship, or affection. The way you want to spend your money is your own business, and you don’t have to justify it to anyone. I have a 3 year old Maine Coon female who has been spayed. We got her from a reputable breeder and she is so perfect. We also have a soon to be 7 year old american short hair that we adopted from a pet rescue center. He was already neutered and we had him for a year before we got our Maine Coon. He immediately took her under his paw and they have been best friends ever since. Both of our cats are so special and really helped us through the pandemic. One cat was expensive and the other one not so much, regardless they are loved and spoiled equally, oh and the both meet us at the door when we come home. I cannot imagine life without them. My family was asked to care for a male maincoon, because the family who had him was in the process of moving. They stayed with other family members who were allergic to cats. After about 3-4 months we were told we could keep him, or drop him off to the pound. We latter found out it was because they didn't know what to do with him, and got a different one instead, it was a orange tabby. This was the best thing to ever happen for us, we had a bond started on day one. He has kept us laughing every day since.

What a beautiful cat! We had an amount that we were going to pay for a maine coon from a breeder. Adult cat retired about 8 years and $700 . The price didn't bother me just the comments. Then we found Elsa in a shelter. Drove to N.H. and brought her home. $100 helps the shelter out a lot, and you get a wonderful pet. Adoption is the best
It is worth every penny paled for any cat for they are smart and full of love in their own way. I loved the main coon I owned one once and sure would love to know what happened to him. He was so loved we miss him so much. By the way he was a Russian blue.

I’ve been researching Maine coons for years and the prices you quoted are pretty standard for the quality of cats that you have. People have things they value and that’s how they spend their money. There are Maine Coon cat rescue places, but beware, the kitties are not always well socialized. They were rescued for a reason. My brother found an abandoned Coon mix kitten in the woods in Maine on a hike. She grew to 10 lbs and would hang upside down from wooden chairs, played fetch, and needed brushing every day. The cats of our lives find us one way or another. I would pay 4k for another love like her any day!
I love all cats especially Maine Coons! I’ve been to a local breeder and was able to spend time playing with the kittens. Unfortunately I can’t afford to pay that much money for a cat! All my cats were given to me or were strays. They all had wonderful personalities and I miss each one so much. I’m currently cat less for now so I visit the rescue shelters in my city just to visit with the cats. No matter how you get your cats they are all special and deserve to be loved.

When asking anyone what something costs, whether it be an animal, boat, house, car, jackets, boots, or whatever- Money is a personal thing and what someone paid for something doesn't give that person a right to voice their opinion or judgement. 1. Any pure bread cat are very expensive! we have a Maine coon ( mixed cat ) he is a good cat, trying to settle in with us in his new home. he was surrendered due to his owner had to go to assisted living with her son that is allergic to cats, out of state. We were not looking but he found us and is now a part of our family. your cats are amazing, it is so enjoyable watching your family of cats. thank you for the education on Maine coon cats.
I agree that everyone has the right to buy a pure bred cat, dog, horse, pig, cow, etc. I have rescues myself, but have always wanted a pure bred cat. money issues is the reason I haven't. I ❤Maine Coons because I adopted a MC mix, kitten from the street. Meeko was a mean kitten until neutered. He became so loving and sweet after that. He instantly became an inside-only and lost his entire family at six weeks old. Which could have caused him to be angry. He was my buddy. He passed on March 12, 2021. ❤❤
I have owned several cat, but when I focused on MC cats, I got scammed right out of the gate and lost $750. Then almost got scammed again for 2 babies that they were supposedly giving up for $600 a piece. because they needed to go very fast. I was ready to do it again, when they started pressuring me to send them Venmo money the night before I was picking them up. It scared me and I never showed up for appt and they attempted to get me to meet them again, which I refused to do. So it is very easy to get scammed if you are a trusting person. But I will say that I found a breeder that wanted 3600 for a male and that I could pick up right away. That triggered a red flag for me, because MC are in high demand, so how is it that they had several babies available, I just need to go pick them up and bring cash, they said.. I decided it sounded too much like a scam. So right now I have been on a waiting list for almost a year for 2 babies, I want a female and a male and they tell me that I will get them by early fall. I am so excited and each one is 2500, but folks have to remember that there are additional expenses that should be included in their budgets, like travel costs, beds, cat trees, litter, trip to vet, etc etc etc....So you are in the ball park for a breeder and I am praying that the pair I get are as beautiful as your LOBO and as sweet as you girls!!
I have pain $1800 each for my two new Maine Coon cat kittens this winter. I don't think people realize that adopting a Maine Coon is basically like adopting a dog in that their personalities are unlike any other cat you could get for free. They are indeed dog like, following me around from room to room all day, very affectionate, etc. They are worth every dollar!
Not everyone understands that animals should be and are priceless. They are a living animal, cat or dog. Who cares about how much you adopt your fur baby for, they are and will always be priceless.
Forgive my rant but I have to say that there are some people who just don't have any respect for a person's home, life choices or finances! There is no way that I would have invaded your privacy and insulted your choices; and in your home no less! It's just ridiculous!😾 When my Maine Coon mix Red passed away last year my Sister asked me if I was going to get another cat to "replace him". I had to explain to her that Red was more than just a cat, he was family. I adopted Red and I can tell you if it had cost me a million dollars (and I had a million 😸) it would not have made one difference because his love is priceless. Whew, I got wound up there. I love your guys and girls and even though I don't have them they give me more joy that goes far beyond their cost. 😸
They are a similar price in NZ. I have two Maine Coons, Luna was $1500 pre-pandemic, then the prices shot up when people started wanting pets during the pandemic - now they range from $1800 - $2200. Lucky for me I have a wonderful breeder who sold me Max at the same price as Luna, plus I had to fly them to where I live. In my opinion they are totally worth it, if they give you pleasure and entertainment who is any one else to tell you what you should and should not spend your money on?
Beautiful cat! The prices that I've seen are in line with what a purebred dog depending on the breed would cost: $2k-3K. However a Maine Coon has a much longer life span and eats less food than the Bullmastiff that I was also looking into. Ideally I'd have both.
My new pedigree black smoke Maine coon kitten is the same age as lobo and looks the same. He was £1400 and has a fantastic personality . He always puts a smile on my face 😺
Worth every penny to add a new fur baby to your home. Back in the day I paid $1,000 for a pure breed Golden Retriever puppy. Pure breed pets are expensive. My beloved heavenly cat was a stray Tabby. My daughter found him eating out of her schools trash. We adored and loved both of our pets equally, cost doesn't matter. Maine Coons are beautiful cats
Years ago we adopted an "8 year old breeding female, recently fixed" from a highly reputable breeder in Denver, Colorado. We paid $500 back in 2007 for her and even was given her registration paperwork. We toured the whole cattery and there were dozens of gorgeous and healthy cats and kittens there and we assumed everything was great. Took her to the vet about a week after we got her for just a general check upand he said there was no way she was only 8 and more likely twice that age. She had to have all 4 fangs infected, needed basically all her teeth removed. Two years later she was diagnosed with mouth cancer. She lived only 5 years with us, despite us taking exceptional care of her but I'll never again buy a retired breeder. Which is sooo sad because they all deserve great family homes, not just lives of breeding.
I'm really hoping to adopt two coon sisters from a local shelter! I'm doing my research now as they are asking us to read up on the breed and your channel has been really helpful. My husband rescued one about 15 years ago, he was his best friend :)
Ah a cat is just like any other animal, they're priceless and regardless it's one's own business what they want to pay for any animal. As long as y'all are happy that's what matters 💯%. We just brought in a calico, found out she's about 10, thought she had broken leg but they say it's osteosarcoma and she had just been attacked by a dog so we couldn't leave her out. She's not adjusting to my fluffs so we're keeping them separated till they can adjust or until her time comes to an end. We wanted her to feel love one more time and give her a chance. She's alot like Baby, it's really strange, I didn't have a name when I took her to vet so it shall be Callie lol. Much love my furfriends 🧡🤍🖤

$1200 initially. $6000 for hip surgery $8500 for 3 cancer surgeries Untold amount in medications. We were told by our first (Somali) breeder that the price you pay for the kitten is roughly 1% of what you put out over its lifetime. Priceless but pricey.
my oldest male coon past away 3 months ago at the age of 21 , had him from a friend for 200 bucks i was in a tough spot back in the day basicly was a "gift" i still miss him to this day , best friend i've ever had compared to some humans..

I didn’t want him at first but a friend talked me into adopting him and it was the best decision I ever made. This cat was literally in love with me. My friends teased me about him all the time. When he crossed over the rainbow bridge unexpectedly at the age of 14 I was devastated. Took me three years before I could get another kitten. My new girl is a short hair ginger cat

My 2 (maya and Luna) were around £1000 each. Both purebred. They are gorgeous and it’s worth every penny knowing their nature. The breeders did a fantastic job socialising them. These are pets for life, you want to make sure you have healthy loving pets in return.

I have adopted Maine Coon mix kittens from shelters over the years . But one day I'm going to spend the $$ for a purebred that has all the classic traits, esp. those huge ear tufts! 😸
I am sooooo…fascinated with Maine Coons…I could totally understand why someone would not bat an eye when it comes to getting one of these gorgeous babies…I am a dog person but, did have a cat when I was much much younger! If getting a cat or dog means paying money and you think it’s totally worth it…Do it!! They love you unconditionally (cats/dogs) and are the most wonderful things in the world to have…I just hate that we don’t have them longer than we do… I just recently lost my little Shih Tzu about a year ago and I would so love to get another animal but with my present situation can not afford to! If you can do it…get one!!
People say the same thing to me when they find out how much I paid for my Maine Coon ($1,600) and Ragdoll ($1,800) kittens. Legit breeders spend a lot of time and money on testing, raising, feeding, and more on their cats which is why it costs so much. My babies are worth the price because they’re awesome cats.
And PS: That lady had no clue that cats are even more popular than dogs and command the prices they do because we're willing to pay what a breeder asks because we take the time to socialize and let them choose us. We would have never gotten Rummy if he hadn't bonded with me after he chose me. Don't let the idiot things people say get to you because some people are just to remain clueless to it not being about the money, it's about the bonding love we cherish with our cats and what we're willing to do because we love them that much.

That colouring looks so regal and majestic when MCs grow up, so I can see why it would be so popular. I totally agree that if you want a specific breed, make sure you find a reputable, registered breeder. In particular, it's important that they do regular DNA testing because purebred cats tend to be prone to specific genetic conditions that you definitely don't want your cat to have. Good breeders change up their breeding cats periodically and have them tested to make sure they limit the likelihood of passing on any of those genes. They also socialize the kittens and take good care of them so they're ready for their new homes. My view has always been: either pay the big bucks for a cat from a good breeder, or rescue a mixed breed. Both are wonderful options.
I loved my European Shorthair more than anything and I love my Main Coon kitten. I think that the breed, color, price or age of a cat has nothing to do with the love you give or receive. When my European died, I would not have known how to go to a shelter to adopt a cat, it would have been too difficult for me to choose which one would have the chance to come back with me leaving the others behind.
Recently talked my mom into getting a Maine coon kitten for my birthday as I’ve notice my older half Maine coon cat who is now 6 years of age have been lonely for so long and he indeed needs a buddy but lately I’ve been thinking about Ragdoll kittens it’s just so hard to choose 💀
I can tell you we paid eight hundred for our Rummy from a breeder who wouldn't let him go because she was borderline hoarder and honestly could not take care of her numbers of cats she had. I even offered to drive over and spend time with Rummy while he was getting his vaxea and being neutered, but she never got back to me so we ended up taking him home on the day of purchase. It took me a long time to get him socialized because he grew up in a garage atmosphere with many other cats. The breeder wanted us to have another cat I wasn't bonded with unlike Rummy who had bonded with me by kissing me on the leg when I was playing with him and I almost took a cousin of his because he had kissed me on the nose. We almost gave Rummy up because he was scared of me and so fortunately I was able to turn him around to where he is the biggest mench you ever saw. What me and Mom didn't like was that the breeder was a borderline hoarder and so many of her cats wanted my and mom's attention that one of them literally climbed up her back because they were so starved for it and since then we discovered rummy to be highly social with us. I'm not telling this story to deter you because you need to know there are breeders who mean well, but don't need so many cats. When we got spinner, he was socialized with a big white Afghan dog the breeder also owned and I didn't have to socialize him because the breeder had a few Maine Coon kittens and was a good one in West Houston who isn't in business anymore.
I understand the many ,many people advocating adoption but also feel it would be a pity to lose all the fabulous pure cat breeds ,which of course would happen if no one was willing to buy them .I know Main Coons are one of the more expensive breeds ,if you leave aside exotic hybrids ,but they are clearly special cats and obviously worth it for many people .I don't think it's particularly helpful to attack people for choosing to buy a cat ,it doesn't have to be an either /or thing ,it's quite possible to buy and adopt or buy and foster at the same time .Creating divisions of that kind among cat owners isn't going to do much to encourage anyone to consider both buying the breed they love and finding ways to help cats in need .Wendy Langcake.

The pricing over there tbh is cheaper compared to AU. I paid for my solid white boy $1800 aud which is around $1200 usd before covid in Jan 2020. For some reason not long after covid all pet prices here went up almost double cats and dogs alike, i am guessing because cats and dogs are so high in demand because most ppl were working from home, at some point you just cant find breeder with available kittens because the enquiry is just so high. Nowadays entry prices for a mainecoon is $2500 aud which is standart parents and colouring etc. I just paid a deposit for a solid blue boy from 12 kg stud and its gonna cost me $3500 aud which is arpund $2400 usd. $2000 for a black smoke boy is very cheap if you compare it in AU. Here black smoke boy is the most sought after MC. I have been looking and contacting breeders for 2 years now for one still now luck, and the pricess for black smoke boy is gonna be around $4500 easy. LOBO is so handsome btw, i envy you.
Cats rule dogs drool lol. I would of had to bite my tongue if the lady talked to me in that manner, I prefer cats over dogs and my cats would come first before any dog. My cat was part Maine Coon I had adopted her and her brother from an animal shelter. It's your right to pay however much you want to for a cat that's your business and no one else has a say in it. What if you don't want a cat to breed. We would have it fixed. But I am in Love with the breed. We have 3 cats at this time. We inherited all 3 of and they are mutts LoL and they are all old cats. Tubby when we got her weighed 22lbs. She is now 13.5lbs she is about 16. She came with Peanut. She also was real heavy and 15yrs. She is now 12.5lbs and diabetic but food controlled. Agoura is Tiny. 6lbsand the youngest. She was my brothers. The other 2 were afriend's. We wont get another until they are gone. They go to the RainbowBridge. We love them all. We payed 2800 for ours but the breeders spay/neuter the cat ,vaccinate it and pedigree it and it is 3 months old if you would like to buy a Maine coon kitten I would recommend charlotte fire lynx cattery Or Carolina Mainecoones, one is in charolette nc ,the other is in Columbia sc both in North America

What a beautiful cat! We had an amount that we were going to pay for a maine coon from a breeder. Adult cat retired about 8 years and $700 . The price didn't bother me just the comments. Then we found Elsa in a shelter. Drove to N.H. and brought her home. $100 helps the shelter out a lot, and you get a wonderful pet. Adoption is the best
It is worth every penny paled for any cat for they are smart and full of love in their own way. I loved the main coon I owned one once and sure would love to know what happened to him. He was so loved we miss him so much. By the way he was a Russian blue.

There are Maine Coon cat rescue places, but beware, the kitties are not always well socialized. They were rescued for a reason. My brother found an abandoned Coon mix kitten in the woods in Maine on a hike. She grew to 10 lbs and would hang upside down from wooden chairs, played fetch, and needed brushing every day. The cats of our lives find us one way or another. I would pay 4k for another love like her any day!

I love all cats especially Maine Coons! I’ve been to a local breeder and was able to spend time playing with the kittens. Unfortunately I can’t afford to pay that much money for a cat! All my cats were given to me or were strays. They all had wonderful personalities and I miss each one so much. I’m currently cat less for now so I visit the rescue shelters in my city just to visit with the cats. No matter how you get your cats they are all special and deserve to be loved.
We got our Zora in August from a terrific breeder. We have always adopted, but I wanted a Main Coon. She is worth every cent. We ♥️ her.

When asking anyone what something costs, whether it be an animal, boat, house, car, jackets, boots, or whatever- Money is a personal thing and what someone paid for something doesn't give that person a right to voice their opinion or judgement. 1. I agree that everyone has the right to buy a pure bred cat, dog, horse, pig, cow, etc. I have rescues myself, but have always wanted a pure bred cat. money issues is the reason I haven't. I ❤Maine Coons because I adopted a MC mix, kitten from the street. Meeko was a mean kitten until neutered. He became so loving and sweet after that. He instantly became an inside-only and lost his entire family at six weeks old. Which could have caused him to be angry. He was my buddy. He passed on March 12, 2021. ❤❤
I have owned several cat, but when I focused on MC cats, I got scammed right out of the gate and lost $750. Then almost got scammed again for 2 babies that they were supposedly giving up for $600 a piece. because they needed to go very fast. I was ready to do it again, when they started pressuring me to send them Venmo money the night before I was picking them up. It scared me and I never showed up for appt and they attempted to get me to meet them again, which I refused to do. So it is very easy to get scammed if you are a trusting person. But I will say that I found a breeder that wanted 3600 for a male and that I could pick up right away. That triggered a red flag for me, because MC are in high demand, so how is it that they had several babies available, I just need to go pick them up and bring cash, they said.. I decided it sounded too much like a scam. So right now I have been on a waiting list for almost a year for 2 babies, I want a female and a male and they tell me that I will get them by early fall. I am so excited and each one is 2500, but folks have to remember that there are additional expenses that should be included in their budgets, like travel costs, beds, cat trees, litter, trip to vet, etc etc etc....So you are in the ball park for a breeder and I am praying that the pair I get are as beautiful as your LOBO and as sweet as you girls!!

I have pain $1800 each for my two new Maine Coon cat kittens this winter. I don't think people realize that adopting a Maine Coon is basically like adopting a dog in that their personalities are unlike any other cat you could get for free. They are indeed dog like, following me around from room to room all day, very affectionate, etc. They are worth every dollar!

Forgive my rant but I have to say that there are some people who just don't have any respect for a person's home, life choices or finances! There is no way that I would have invaded your privacy and insulted your choices; and in your home no less! It's just ridiculous!😾 When my Maine Coon mix Red passed away last year my Sister asked me if I was going to get another cat to "replace him". I had to explain to her that Red was more than just a cat, he was family. I adopted Red and I can tell you if it had cost me a million dollars (and I had a million 😸) it would not have made one difference because his love is priceless.

They are a similar price in NZ. I have two Maine Coons, Luna was $1500 pre-pandemic, then the prices shot up when people started wanting pets during the pandemic - now they range from $1800 - $2200. Lucky for me I have a wonderful breeder who sold me Max at the same price as Luna, plus I had to fly them to where I live. In my opinion they are totally worth it, if they give you pleasure and entertainment who is any one else to tell you what you should and should not spend your money on?

Beautiful cat! The prices that I've seen are in line with what a purebred dog depending on the breed would cost: $2k-3K. However a Maine Coon has a much longer life span and eats less food than the Bullmastiff that I was also looking into. Ideally I'd have both.

Worth every penny to add a new fur baby to your home. Back in the day I paid $1,000 for a pure breed Golden Retriever puppy. Pure breed pets are expensive. My beloved heavenly cat was a stray Tabby. My daughter found him eating out of her schools trash. We adored and loved both of our pets equally, cost doesn't matter. Maine Coons are beautiful cats
Years ago we adopted an "8 year old breeding female, recently fixed" from a highly reputable breeder in Denver, Colorado. We paid $500 back in 2007 for her and even was given her registration paperwork. We toured the whole cattery and there were dozens of gorgeous and healthy cats and kittens there and we assumed everything was great. Took her to the vet about a week after we got her for just a general check upand he said there was no way she was only 8 and more likely twice that age. She had to have all 4 fangs infected, needed basically all her teeth removed. Two years later she was diagnosed with mouth cancer. She lived only 5 years with us, despite us taking exceptional care of her but I'll never again buy a retired breeder. Which is sooo sad because they all deserve great family homes, not just lives of breeding.

We just brought in a calico, found out she's about 10, thought she had broken leg but they say it's osteosarcoma and she had just been attacked by a dog so we couldn't leave her out. She's not adjusting to my fluffs so we're keeping them separated till they can adjust or until her time comes to an end. We wanted her to feel love one more time and give her a chance. She's alot like Baby, it's really strange, I didn't have a name when I took her to vet so it shall be Callie lol. Much love my furfriends 🧡🤍🖤

My Maine Coon mix kitten adopted me. From the moment he saw me it was love at first sight. I didn’t want him at first but a friend talked me into adopting him and it was the best decision I ever made. This cat was literally in love with me. My friends teased me about him all the time. When he crossed over the rainbow bridge unexpectedly at the age of 14 I was devastated. Took me three years before I could get another kitten. My new girl is a short hair ginger cat

My 2 (maya and Luna) were around £1000 each. Both purebred. They are gorgeous and it’s worth every penny knowing their nature. The breeders did a fantastic job socialising them.

I have adopted Maine Coon mix kittens from shelters over the years . But one day I'm going to spend the $$ for a purebred that has all the classic traits, esp. those huge ear tufts! 😸

I am sooooo…fascinated with Maine Coons…I could totally understand why someone would not bat an eye when it comes to getting one of these gorgeous babies…I am a dog person but, did have a cat when I was much much younger! If getting a cat or dog means paying money and you think it’s totally worth it…Do it!! They love you unconditionally (cats/dogs) and are the most wonderful things in the world to have…I just hate that we don’t have them longer than we do… I just recently lost my little Shih Tzu about a year ago and I would so love to get another animal but with my present situation can not afford to! If you can do it…get one!!

People say the same thing to me when they find out how much I paid for my Maine Coon ($1,600) and Ragdoll ($1,800) kittens. Legit breeders spend a lot of time and money on testing, raising, feeding, and more on their cats which is why it costs so much. My babies are worth the price because they’re awesome cats.

And PS: That lady had no clue that cats are even more popular than dogs and command the prices they do because we're willing to pay what a breeder asks because we take the time to socialize and let them choose us. We would have never gotten Rummy if he hadn't bonded with me after he chose me. Don't let the idiot things people say get to you because some people are just to remain clueless to it not being about the money, it's about the bonding love we cherish with our cats and what we're willing to do because we love them that much.

That colouring looks so regal and majestic when MCs grow up, so I can see why it would be so popular. I totally agree that if you want a specific breed, make sure you find a reputable, registered breeder. In particular, it's important that they do regular DNA testing because purebred cats tend to be prone to specific genetic conditions that you definitely don't want your cat to have. Good breeders change up their breeding cats periodically and have them tested to make sure they limit the likelihood of passing on any of those genes. They also socialize the kittens and take good care of them so they're ready for their new homes. My view has always been: either pay the big bucks for a cat from a good breeder, or rescue a mixed breed. Both are wonderful options.

I loved my European Shorthair more than anything and I love my Main Coon kitten. I think that the breed, color, price or age of a cat has nothing to do with the love you give or receive. When my European died, I would not have known how to go to a shelter to adopt a cat, it would have been too difficult for me to choose which one would have the chance to come back with me leaving the others behind.
Yeah its expensive but its worth it. Love to pets dont knows Prize. I'm still kinda happy that here in Germany there cost between 400€ - 800€.

I can tell you we paid eight hundred for our Rummy from a breeder who wouldn't let him go because she was borderline hoarder and honestly could not take care of her numbers of cats she had. I even offered to drive over and spend time with Rummy while he was getting his vaxea and being neutered, but she never got back to me so we ended up taking him home on the day of purchase. It took me a long time to get him socialized because he grew up in a garage atmosphere with many other cats. The breeder wanted us to have another cat I wasn't bonded with unlike Rummy who had bonded with me by kissing me on the leg when I was playing with him and I almost took a cousin of his because he had kissed me on the nose. We almost gave Rummy up because he was scared of me and so fortunately I was able to turn him around to where he is the biggest mench you ever saw. What me and Mom didn't like was that the breeder was a borderline hoarder and so many of her cats wanted my and mom's attention that one of them literally climbed up her back because they were so starved for it and since then we discovered rummy to be highly social with us. I'm not telling this story to deter you because you need to know there are breeders who mean well, but don't need so many cats. When we got spinner, he was socialized with a big white Afghan dog the breeder also owned and I didn't have to socialize him because the breeder had a few Maine Coon kittens and was a good one in West Houston who isn't in business anymore.
I understand the many ,many people advocating adoption but also feel it would be a pity to lose all the fabulous pure cat breeds ,which of course would happen if no one was willing to buy them .I know Main Coons are one of the more expensive breeds ,if you leave aside exotic hybrids ,but they are clearly special cats and obviously worth it for many people .I don't think it's particularly helpful to attack people for choosing to buy a cat ,it doesn't have to be an either /or thing ,it's quite possible to buy and adopt or buy and foster at the same time .Creating divisions of that kind among cat owners isn't going to do much to encourage anyone to consider both buying the breed they love and finding ways to help cats in need .Wendy Langcake.

The pricing over there tbh is cheaper compared to AU. I paid for my solid white boy $1800 aud which is around $1200 usd before covid in Jan 2020. For some reason not long after covid all pet prices here went up almost double cats and dogs alike, i am guessing because cats and dogs are so high in demand because most ppl were working from home, at some point you just cant find breeder with available kittens because the enquiry is just so high. Nowadays entry prices for a mainecoon is $2500 aud which is standart parents and colouring etc. I just paid a deposit for a solid blue boy from 12 kg stud and its gonna cost me $3500 aud which is arpund $2400 usd. $2000 for a black smoke boy is very cheap if you compare it in AU. Here black smoke boy is the most sought after MC. I have been looking and contacting breeders for 2 years now for one still now luck, and the pricess for black smoke boy is gonna be around $4500 easy. LOBO is so handsome btw, i envy you.

What if you don't want a cat to breed. We would have it fixed. But I am in Love with the breed. We have 3 cats at this time. We inherited all 3 of and they are mutts LoL and they are all old cats. Tubby when we got her weighed 22lbs. She is now 13.5lbs she is about 16. She came with Peanut. She also was real heavy and 15yrs. She is now 12.5lbs and diabetic but food controlled. Agoura is Tiny. 6lbsand the youngest. She was my brothers. The other 2 were afriend's. We wont get another until they are gone. They go to the RainbowBridge. We love them all. We payed 2800 for ours but the breeders spay/neuter the cat ,vaccinate it and pedigree it and it is 3 months old if you would like to buy a Maine coon kitten I would recommend charlotte fire lynx cattery
