Ok ok..... Ya talked me into building one of those damn things. That scoring trick with the blade & book is genius.

+TheGoatMumbler The scoring trick is called; "Poor man has poor ways" Haha! You better get busy and build one because you're supposed to be going to Dinosaur Valley soon. Good time to try it. I did get some video on Dinosaur Valley this weekend. I have some editing to do and should be putting it out Wed. Shows some of the primitive campsites.

Can't wait to see it. My vid is 58 min and I need to edit it down. The wife kinda messed up my April 1 trip so I'll have to reschedule. I still have a campsite reserved but will have to change the date. She owes me big time!

If you save the rest of the two cans you can use them as a windscreen and punch air holes with a paper puncher. Also if you can make a simmer ring but covering the jet holes, and leaving the middle open.

I haven't used a stove like those, but they look interesting. You have a lot of good ideas at work here.

Very much like the "penny" stove. Can you cover the fill hole for better flame?

I've seen the penny idea but this always worked so well I never tried to use one, and it gets a pretty long burn time as is. Thanks for the comment.

+so steve Haha ! Thanks Steve. Actually I'm very blessed to have a wife who understands my compulsion for hiking, backpacking, and everything that goes with it. But then I was that way when she met me, so she knew what she was getting into. LOL I appreciate you watching.

I cut out the whole top that tog call a field hole. Then, I drill my holes in the side of the can instead of that grove indention. Have you tried drilling your flame holes on the side instead of the groves? I'm wondering how that would work. When I drill my holes on the side, I can set my cup right in top of the stove instead of having to set it on a stand. I'm just wondering if it would work the same way if you made the holes on the side of the can? Let me know if you have tried it?

I have knocked mine over before, so the insulation is a great idea.

By the way. Thanks for the sub. I subbed to you too. I'll have to get caught up on your vids.

Thanks for subbing back. Have you seen the Fancy Feast alcohol stoves. I built one if those and used it for a while. Same theory about the holes on the side and setting the pot directly on top. It worked really good, but if your counting ounces to get you through a multi day hike and if I knocked a can over after filling it there goes a meal, or more importantly a cup of coffee. Now that would be a sin !!! LOL Not sure how the holes in the side would work on this stove because of the insulation. Something to think about. I'll be catching up on your vids too.

I've got my alcohol stove on my last vids. Evan has a fantasy feast stove and I think my was boiling water faster. I made him one. Haven't heard about it yet though. I was just wondering if your stover would work better with the holes in the side. Might be a good experiment for you or me. I haven't made one like yours. If you are going to be making one soon, let me know. Just curious.
