Man if I had the opportunity to buy 712 I would. Rest In Pieces to your 2009 C2's. I really love that MBE926. Other than the 6.7L Cummins which is an amazing motor but the 926LA engine is absolutely an amazing engine too

Crazy there retiring these buses my school still has old Thomas buses from the late 90s running around most buses there are visions and we still have a old 2005 vision bluebird and a couple old international 3800s

I think the more common setup in the C2 nowadays is a 6.7L ISB Cummins. That’s what my route bus has in it.
I’ve heard of Detroit offering their DD5 I4 diesel in them too. Though I’ve never seen one in person with the DD5.
6.7L Cummins are the most common.

Nice!! 712 is currently sitting down at the YMCA Kennedy Center and is visible from Route 2. They've already started cutting it up.

Not a fan of the C2's. Find that built to cheaply. The Bluebird vision is vastly superior. I go back to the days of Wayne buses which were my favorite. Building a 68 7 window Wayne on a Dodge D400 frame.

Poor bus.. what are your thoughts on a international thomas vista 3600? I rode on many in middle school. They were owned by laidlaw , most were 1996 DT 466 mechanical. 72 passenger. Some were 1994 -95 with T444E. They were odd looking ! I’m on Ottawa ontario. I have a picture of one here in Ottawa. How can I share that ?

I rode on a 96 and 98 in Middle and High School here in FL, both had the 7.3L Powerstroke (aka the T444E) with the Allison AT545 transmissions. They were really neat to ride on since you had great visibility out the front. Got the best of both worlds between a conventional and transit style buses without the worry of bottoming out the front like transits do. Only downside to them were they were loud since most of the engine was inside the bus.

I believe he said EPA grant. Scrap the old ones (cut frame and drill engine block) and get $20,000 grant from the government to get a new one (that meets current emissions standards or an EV) I could be mistaken on the grant money amount, but that’s what I’ve heard.

@@danlenox1430 our yard had internationals, mostly 06-07 and a few 10-14 units. Rest were C2s with DEF and aftertreatment. Company punted the Internationals (retired them all from our yard) and got more C2s as replacements. So many have gone down with DEF issues in the past few months alone. The Internationals held up better mechanically, with the VT365 and DT466E engines.

No sense in scrapping a perfectly working bus in place of some junk that won't hold up in a few years. At the current level of technology, electric buses are an absolute joke.

Sometime in 2018 our school got a hydrogen bus that made its rounds around my place. I normally drove places, but from what I heard that thing was CONSISTANTLY in the shop every two weeks, without fail. It ended up getting replaced by an older diesel bus that had a creaking suspension and dying-out brakes but went places reliably.

Scrapping this bus was a poor choice by your school district. Replacing it with a new C2 that will likely be a piece of garbage. Not a fan. My area still has 2009’s so no reason to be retiring it in the first place the transportation director may need to be fired. (Only because I hate seeing perfectly good buses scrapped for no reason)
