I’m in this same boat! Well, the boat about just having watched the other video recently… I already have a sizable Jumpstart box(es, actually) but I’m always down for more videos about my favorite Magic format :)
Regarding re-sorting the packs, I used NFC tag stickers and attached them to the Burger Tokens box, then programmed them with a URL going to the decklist. This especially helped when adding set-specific JS packs, with the random rare from the set.
I think off of your original video, you inspired me to make my own and how foolproof it was! What’s especially cool is I had enough commons from Crimson Vow to support a 25 cubeamajig battle box. The themes of each pack though was solely based on color and obviously you can pick up the strategy between each with every other one containing a common artifact. I mostly focused on an equal mana curve for each pack and it proved to be just as you said “no barrier to entry for new players” and my MIL and SIL had an awesome time!
Can vouch for the Burger Tokens boxes. Got those for exactly this purpose, though they're currently in a cardboard box to house them in. Might go for something nicer like an Omni Hive... maybe.
Will cubeamajigs series 2 be available via retail? I'm now just getting into jumpstart and I'm not sure if I should pickup some cubeamajigs now or wait till series 2 and get the pod as well. Thoughts? I look forward to your review on series 2, thank you!
Hello! Which set have the better/ most fun jumpstart packs? Also if I don’t have access to those resealable box to make the packs what can I use for that? Thanks for the video
I like Jumpstart 2022 a little bit better in terms of fun and balance. It makes sense since the first Jumpstart was the first time they had tried it. But the first Jumpstart is just as fun in my opinion. As for packs, there are templates you can get that when printed on card stock you can fold them into a pack. They aren't as durable but they work in a pinch. Or you can just trace it on paper or card stock and fold it if you don't have access to a printer. The cheapest option is just to keep them separate with dividers in a cardboard box and just do it that way. I hope that helps!
I would call this a cube, it’s just the packs are half decks instead of traditional cube boosters. A battle box to me would be a selection of 4 or more tailored decks, like buying all 4 challenger decks from any given year or building 10 2 colour constructed decks based around the corner stone themes from any given sets limited archetypes.
You do make a good point. Since I came to it from making battle boxes I just went with that. When I made my first one back with the first Jumpstart I hadn't done much with cubes. Thanks for watching!
There is indeed an improved version of the Dragon Shield Cube Shell (look for "Improved design" written on the pack of eight). The issue with the first one was that the interior was not completely flush, which could lead to damaged cards if you were not careful getting them in. The improved version completely removes that issue, and is now a perfect product for cubing. It's way more durable than the most popular alternatives, but it's less pretty, and no transparent version exists that would make it possible to customize the pack design with a homemade insert. It won't hold a double-sleeved Jumpstart pack though, and i don't think i would use the Cube Shell for Jumpstart anyway given that it's fully opaque and a tad less exciting. I think it's best suited for players with no more than five cubes (the improved Cube Shell comes in five colors). Thank you for the great content and reviews! 🙏
Thank you so much for the info! I will definitely check them out for the Cube video I’m planning on releasing later this year! And thank you so much! I’m glad you like the videos!
The new dragonshield boxes have had all the defects the professor nailed them on corrected and work great. I don't know why he's not redoing the video or reviewing the new ones, he's hurting the brand
Regarding the custom packs. A friend and I live on opposite sides of the globe. We both got a bulk collection starter bulk box for like 20 dollars. Had commons uncommons and bulk rares. So we mainly made repacks mystery boosters. From that we also did sealed pools using 9 packs, and made jumpstart style half decks. We called the format jankstart. I’ve kept every pack made and even ones some other friends made ^^ It’s fun, random and chaotic
great video, really been thinking of doing the same thing. Jumpstart on Arena is easily my favorite format besides the starter decks. Just cuts a lot of the bullshit and lets you play for fun.
I think jumpstart is a really cool rip off of Smash Up! (great board game, check it out!) but after losing 11 games in a row to my friend......... Ya, I'm not touching it anymore. Sure, I'll buy a box or two for the cool cards out of the mainline sets, but that's it.
What a coincidence! I just watched your original jumpstart battle box video two days ago! I’m working on my own with a box of JMP and Jumstart 2022!
That’s great! I’m so glad to hear that!

This is an awesome solution!

That is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing that. It made my day!
You’re so awesome dude!!! 👏🏻
YOU'RE awesome! Thank you!
Just working on making my jumpstart foundations battle box!
Love it! I see what you did there at the very end. Nice.
I built my own 12 pack box based almost entirely on your video and am waiting to test it out! Thanks so much for the update and great job!
That’s awesome! I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you so much!
Love the update

I made custom reference cards to replace the first theme card. And since I also made custom packs it worked even better.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Dope wow

@@beyondthedeckbox Thanks for your response! I will keep them in separate dividers atm but I plan to buy some Dragon Shield Cube Shells to store them!
The Unfinity Gauntlet!!!! Ohh SNAP!
🤣

Pauper jumpstart is the one I'm gonna build there's reddits and websites dedicated to it so gonna give it a shot myself and see what I can build
This is a great idea! I love it!
Nate casually flexing how many friends he has that want to play magic 😢
Some names have been changed (or made up) to protect the innocent. 🤣
Is that Sam Black?
Yup! Some of the B Roll I use is from official WotC videos since I can use them under the "Fan Content Policy."
Woot

I feel like an Unfinity Gauntlet card would require the player to snap, which I can't do :(
