The lore of this archetype is absolutely insane. The short version is that Noellia and Natalia (back then as part of the Ice Barriers) tried to kill Steelswarm big b0i and Natalia got killed. The Steelswarm then poisoned Noellias mind which turned her basically in a combination of Lusamine and the evil mom from Kill La Kill. She then killed her own daughter to create Gustkraken for the sake of being a terrible mother and flooding the world. Psychelone is a version where she is completely posessed by the Steelswarm (but she can still step on me anytime). She then ressurected the three Ice Barrier Dragons and turned them into the Evilswarm b0is known as Bahamut, Ouroboros and NOphion. Somewhere along the lines she was saved from the swarm, ressurected her daughter and sacrificed herself to kill Tierra with the power of Zealgigas (who is Steelswarm big b0i but kinda dead). Her daughter Emilia then fucked Gishki pretty anime boy and Shurit was born. Yes, this is the short version. I fucking adore this deck.
I love Duel Terminal lore but at the same time hate the fact that it puts such a limit on possible future support. Sure, we might get the occasional random support like Neo Flamvell Lady but due to lore restrictions we're probably never getting another bigger wave of Gishki (or any Duel Terminal archetype) support ever again.
It's so weird seeing this Archetype,I'm just going like "so this is where Nekroz came from." I mean it makes sense since Gishiki Avarance is Shurit's dad but still,seeing the sword and the mirror.

Dzeff has a recent video on the very recent changes to time rules in the competitive format that's worth checking out. Time Rules alone makes the Mind Crush ruling seem incredibly tame by comparison.
To be fair ARC-V had one ritual user (Prediction Princess deck if I remember correctly), and Yuya used Odd-Eyes Gravity in that one duel soooooo... yeah at least they mentioned it
In a deck aiming to cycle it with water support, its possible to ridiculously easily loop her 5 times. Its bonkers, especially if your opponent thinks negating the effects will actually stop anything. Takes a perfect hand of Shadow, Vision, 2 Salvage and a ritual spell tho.
Still waiting patiently for some Chess Archfiend retrains. The only deck I held onto when I quit YGO was my Chess Archfiend deck so they kind of have a special place in my cold, dessicated heart.

The best part is they just unbanned both so Gishki is at full power. Though really you only need 2. I like to run a bonkers Gishki Ritual deck whose main game plan is normal summoning Deep Sea Diva, summoning Atlantean Prince and getting a bonus search, then looping Gustkraken and finishing on a Trishula. (Cause lvl 6+2+1 is 9 lol) It rarely happens so I run a Synchro toolbox with the deck about 1/3 gishki ritual stuff, including Forbidden Arts cause so many boss monsters nowadays are lvl 10 or lower Synchro or Fudion monsters. It is endlessly entertaining to bait a Red Eyes Dragoon negate with a phony search and then tribute them for a Zielgigas.

So after watching this video again, I was curious to see if the Yugioh Wiki had lore details on the trivia entry for their pages. What I found was a lot of "this card may depict a specific scene in the lore", but the thing that I found most hilarious was the line "The effect of Gishki Emilia that negates Trap card effects could be like her trying to stop this card". It's like some TV Tropes "GUYS WHAT IF" wild theories that try to connect game mechanics to lore in bizarre ways, and it also implies I guess that Emilia, the card, is aware of the card that depicts her death? Like, if I have Emilia on the field, and my opponent activates this card, is Emilia watching herself die? So she's trying to stop it? That just raises more questions than answers.
As crazy as it sounds, is the way Konami makes lore related cards, this is reason why we get INCREDIBLE sinergies like search Albaz with Nadir Servant 😐
Personally I would love to visit the alternative universe where ritual summoning beat out fusion summoning as the first special summoning mechanic to get real support and expansion. A world where yugi ran several different dark magician ritual monsters to contrast kaiba’s fusion heavy play style. A world where GX focused on the ritual mechanic so elemental hero’s and roids and yes even ojamas were rituals.
6:25 : Gishki Emilia actually negates ALL traps when they are on the field (i.e. does nothing to cards that activate in the graveyard) not just continuous traps. I had a Gishki Deck in Duel Links when we only had Ariel, Emilia and Natalia (first Water DD event). It used to really trip up people and it was GLORIOUS! With Shinobird Shrine, Yami and that spirit monster mirror equip card on Natalia it made for some powerful beatdown fun. It wasn't top tier but I just LOVED to surprised people with these ladies! Ariel's defense was MASSIVE in the days.

@@megamegasamx1014 It's more that Aqua is supposed to be anything in that would be aquatic but is not either of the other two, e.g. amphibians (frogs), molluscs, crustaceans, and of course slimes. In practice this obviously gets muddled, though I believe Gishki Reliever was made Aqua-Type is because with its Level-2 and WATER, it gains Wetlands ATK boost.

Eh... I don't think they quite regretted it. I think I heard that the Wind-up handloop was actually featured by Konami on their website to promote their sales, and followed by the March 2013 list that completely ignored the playbase complaining about the loop in favour of killing off anyone who might still be thinking of playing Synchro's in XYZ era.

It's a bit of a biggie depending on which cards fit the theme of Dark Magician vs. being direct DM support. I suppose the latter is all you need for an Archetype Archive, but so many additional cards would be worth the mention.

After Nekroz, Gishki, and even Demise cards, along with the casual prevalence of the Blue eyes Chaos dragons, I am anticipating another ritual deck to become meta in the near future. Would be nice to see a different play style with the cards, maybe at the end of the link era.
He lives! The golden child lives! And he brought fish! I remember getting some random Goshki cards in a box I bought once; Diviner, Aquamirror, and Mindaugus. The art really is badass on this archetype.
What I find weirder is that they chose to make the new Shaddoll Fusion from the structure deck a reimagining of Mind Augus at least in terms of design.
Word of warning to all Gishki players: Do not be like my one YGOPRO opponent who went first. He made a Zielgigas turn 1. He paid 1000. He drew a Gishki. Zielgigas promptly peaced out of there back into the deck. The shuffle effect is not optional.

The best thing about Gishki is the lore! It's by no means super-original, but it has a really satisfying arc, and for once, the cards involved present the story coherently enough to make sense of without unearthing the lost tablets of the Duel Terminals.

Gishkis are still my favorite deck to play. Consistency without being degenerate. Also a great lore-related successor to my poor neglected Ice Barriers.
This was one of the Archtypes I had been waiting for you to reach. I first dealt with them on the 2010/2011 championship yugioh video games, and loved their crazy looping turns. Sorry for stating any you have done before, but I also want to see a Gusto/Laval... I guess just those 2, I was thinking there was an Earth archtype that showed up around that time but I cannot think of it. Check out Dueling book custom cards I made some referencing various Yugitubers; the designer is Ziro Katsuya... I think you will like the "Rata the evergoing Espada" and the "Ojama Will Smith" and the ones I made for Slaydra and "Hard Leg Joe Master of Yu-Gi-Oh!" cards. I made them as references with effects or odd stats in the case of Joes.
when playing the Zielgigas (lvl 10) variant you sould play "mount of the bound creator" for its protection and burn. Belive me putting two monsters with protection on par with "Chaos Max Dragon" is really strong and can save your from being killed turn 2.
Vlad Velasquez nothing is save from the borells unless they are immune to monster effects. But being save from targeting, effect destruction and monsters with less than 3100 atk protects them from 80% of commonly played removal options Your argument is essentially: it isn’t a towers, so it’s shit. Which just shows a bad understanding of this game.
As a Gishki/Nekroz Player, I am honored to see this video! Now make my other favorite Archetype please! Scraps! Edit: Also just pointing this out there, the idea with Noelia is to dump your Ritual Monsters along with Aquamirror into the graveyard so you can use Aquamirror's secondary effect to bounce the Monsters to your hand while sending the Mirrors back into the deck. Then you drop a Shadow to get the Mirror back to your hand and then shenanigans go off. Noelia is devastating if used right.

Personally I would love to visit the alternative universe where ritual summoning beat out fusion summoning as the first special summoning mechanic to get real support and expansion. A world where yugi ran several different dark magician ritual monsters to contrast kaiba’s fusion heavy play style. A world where GX focused on the ritual mechanic so elemental hero’s and roids and yes even ojamas were rituals.

6:25 : Gishki Emilia actually negates ALL traps when they are on the field (i.e. does nothing to cards that activate in the graveyard) not just continuous traps. I had a Gishki Deck in Duel Links when we only had Ariel, Emilia and Natalia (first Water DD event). It used to really trip up people and it was GLORIOUS! With Shinobird Shrine, Yami and that spirit monster mirror equip card on Natalia it made for some powerful beatdown fun. It wasn't top tier but I just LOVED to surprised people with these ladies! Ariel's defense was MASSIVE in the days.

@@megamegasamx1014 It's more that Aqua is supposed to be anything in that would be aquatic but is not either of the other two, e.g. amphibians (frogs), molluscs, crustaceans, and of course slimes.
In practice this obviously gets muddled, though I believe Gishki Reliever was made Aqua-Type is because with its Level-2 and WATER, it gains Wetlands ATK boost.

Also there is only 2 living Gusto(Technically 3) and they call themselves Ritual Beast Tamers.
And there is one remaining Steelswarm who joins other archetypes and changing his name accordingly.

Eh... I don't think they quite regretted it. I think I heard that the Wind-up handloop was actually featured by Konami on their website to promote their sales, and followed by the March 2013 list that completely ignored the playbase complaining about the loop in favour of killing off anyone who might still be thinking of playing Synchro's in XYZ era.

It's a bit of a biggie depending on which cards fit the theme of Dark Magician vs. being direct DM support.
I suppose the latter is all you need for an Archetype Archive, but so many additional cards would be worth the mention.

What I find weirder is that they chose to make the new Shaddoll Fusion from the structure deck a reimagining of Mind Augus at least in terms of design.
They cant even be special summoned by means other than Ritual. Any summon restriction is utterly redundant

Word of warning to all Gishki players: Do not be like my one YGOPRO opponent who went first. He made a Zielgigas turn 1. He paid 1000. He drew a Gishki. Zielgigas promptly peaced out of there back into the deck. The shuffle effect is not optional.

The best thing about Gishki is the lore! It's by no means super-original, but it has a really satisfying arc, and for once, the cards involved present the story coherently enough to make sense of without unearthing the lost tablets of the Duel Terminals.

This was one of the Archtypes I had been waiting for you to reach.
I first dealt with them on the 2010/2011 championship yugioh video games, and loved their crazy looping turns.
Sorry for stating any you have done before, but I also want to see a Gusto/Laval... I guess just those 2, I was thinking there was an Earth archtype that showed up around that time but I cannot think of it.
Check out Dueling book custom cards I made some referencing various Yugitubers; the designer is Ziro Katsuya... I think you will like the "Rata the evergoing Espada" and the "Ojama Will Smith" and the ones I made for Slaydra and "Hard Leg Joe Master of Yu-Gi-Oh!" cards. I made them as references with effects or odd stats in the case of Joes.

Rituals are just really cool and flavourful. Makes you feel like you're an actual wizard doing wizardry, that's how it feels for me hahaha
when playing the Zielgigas (lvl 10) variant you sould play "mount of the bound creator" for its protection and burn. Belive me putting two monsters with protection on par with "Chaos Max Dragon" is really strong and can save your from being killed turn 2.
Most people run Borreload or Borrelsword so it does nothing tbh. Orcusts are particularly nasty with Longirsu.
Vlad Velasquez nothing is save from the borells unless they are immune to monster effects. But being save from targeting, effect destruction and monsters with less than 3100 atk protects them from 80% of commonly played removal options

Edit: Also just pointing this out there, the idea with Noelia is to dump your Ritual Monsters along with Aquamirror into the graveyard so you can use Aquamirror's secondary effect to bounce the Monsters to your hand while sending the Mirrors back into the deck.
Then you drop a Shadow to get the Mirror back to your hand and then shenanigans go off.
Noelia is devastating if used right.
Emilia negates all Trap Card effects... she's basically Trap Stun
