    Wow! Thank you so much for this Dr Abs!!! These results echo what we discovered during testing. We also found the benefit to be further enhanced with the co-ingestion of the BHB and C8 MCT. Thank you once again.

    Wait, it sounds like you tested a single product, glad to know it works but how does that make it the best? We can get multiple types of unflavored BHB much cheaper from a supplier like bulk supplements. They have sodium BHB, magnesium BHB and I think Calcium BHB. The stuff you tested has caffeine, natural flavors which can be almost anything, and stevia. It looks like most manufacturers use all three in equal amounts, do you know if there is a reason for that other than keeping electrolytes balanced?

    • @Richard-Smith-Nutrition
      @Richard-Smith-Nutrition หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hello Tatiacha great question. We do also produce an unflavoured version. It's one of our best sellers. BHB in their raw form unfortunately are not very palatable, so certainly one for the hard core ketonian / seasoned carnivore. The issue with consuming any single form is it greatly affects the absorption of the BHB itself effecting its bioavailability. Powders like this also look cheap, but at 1238mg, the amount of BHB per serving isn't enough to elicit a beneficial response, you'd need to consume at least 3-4 servings which essentially means 3-4 x the cost, not to mention the potential negative affects of that volume of one single electrolyte. Calcium for example shouldn't be consumed from supplement form much beyond 500mg as it increases risk of cardiovascular disease by 15%. Excessive calcium also depletes magnesium and lower levels of magnesium lead to increased depletion of potassium in the kidney. High Sodium also depletes potassium and magnesium. Altering a ratio of an electrolyte can have profound impacts on many essential pathways. Unfortunately, there are companies out there who try to jump on many years of research and expertise in order to make a few £'s without having the knowledge to do so while praying on the unsuspecting punter.

    Do you think these would have a positive effect on someone with early stage dementia? Thanks

    • @NickMorpethBScPhysiol

      It seems from the limited amount of literature extant that a ketogenic diet has a very positive ‘effect’ (for want of a better word) on people with dementia/Alzheimer’s. Dr Paul Mason covers this in one of his many videos. Do a search on him. This might suggest that utilising exogenous ketones (particularly in someone not very fat-adapted) could have a place, but without a controlled experiment I am speculating here. See what Abs thinks. I hope that was useful 🤞🏼

    Thanks for that, they’re great results and I’ve been waiting for this after that really good podcast you did with Richard Smith, which inspired me to go full carnivore. Did you do any comparison tests on product to come up with the title “to find the best exogenous ketones”?
    Cheers

    I would love it if you did a video where you would explore WHY someone might never go into ketosis!
    I've been carnivore for over 6 months and I still don't think I have attained that - why do I think that?
    Because I am much weaker than I used to be!
    Others on this WOE rave about all their 'extra' energy - well unfortunately not me..

    • @Lordwobblynob83
      @Lordwobblynob83 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      You might be getting too many of your calories from Protein and not enough from fat. This can knock you out of ketosis. Or maybe this diet doesn't suit your physiology? There's no one size fits all, at best it's one size fits most.

    • @johnhogue9402
      @johnhogue9402 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You don’t necessarily need to be in ketosis. It could be a genetic thing. Or, it could be some aspect of your diet or lifestyle. It’s hard to say. Personally, I’ve never bothered to check my ketones as I see no reason to be worried about that.
      There can be a variety of reasons why your energy is poor on a carnivore diet. As a previous commenter mentioned: not eating enough fat. There are several other possibilities as well: not eating enough total food, not getting enough electrolytes, slower than typical fat adaption, insufficient cortisol, poor sleep, etc…
      It can be a pain trying to figure it out. Good luck to you.

    I have and still do use these exogenous ketones, unlavoured, vanilla and chocolate, and I do find them very useful, though I agree they are a tool.
    Similarly with MCT oil, which again I find useful, we must remember that if someone is trying to achieve certain health or weight goals it will always be preferable to be producing the ketones endogenously, rather than taking them exogenously - though exogenous ketones certainly have their place.
    As with MCT I would suggest starting a lower dose and working your way up to gauge the effect, they can cause temporary stomach upset which can be avoided if you don't dive in head first.
