I saw Trilok in Illinois in a small club during the nineties when he had The Crazy Saints with him. One of the best live drum performances I have witnessed.I remember he played the tabla with one hand, and the set with the other hand during that show, which was beyond incredible.
Yeah, I saw the same band in San Francisco, He was playing the microphone like a tabla during soundcheck. he doesn't care, as long as it's a surface of something that makes a sound, he'll play it. Check out the John McLaughlin Trio videos, there's one where McLaughlin is laughing uncontrollably at Trilok during Trilok's solo. It's pretty funny..
Thank you for coming to Poland on 29/06/2019 with Jan Garbarek, the strange country where Eastern Part of Our Globe is just very partly understood and often rejected. Great gig, solos of yours and the rest of the band. I am so inspired after yesterday's night, as it was quite a long gig of 1 hour and 45 minutes. So many rockstars play for just 1 hour or so nowadays. So much good music and great vibes.
Trilok makes magical music ! His work with John McLaughlin i will always cherish. Got me through alot of sleepless nights working my college engineering projects!
Breathtaking and beautiful as aways. I would love to know where to get the whistles and animal sounds. He takes me on a journey to far away lands. Blessings to him forever.
bgrace94 Please..check him out with the John McLaughlin Trio, there are even more exciting performances doing his percussion thing. He’s absolutely incredible! He’s a wizard in a live setting.
I know Sivamani and now Trilok Gurtu - amazing music! Can anyone recommend me any other Indian percussionists or percussion groups to listen to? Thank you!

Yes right
While it's fascinating to watch him, listening with eyes closed and drifting off can be otherworldly.
the most inventive drummer of all times... thanks inspiringvTrilok!
The drum is the heartbeat of language. Language is the heartbeat of sound. The heartbeat is inherently the sound of language.
Thanks Michael🙏
And language is the sound of time lol

People hardly know this guy in india. Gurtu is a genius.
He is definitely genius! First and last, and nobody else!

It does make it worthwhile….he alone is worth it!
There are other percussionists, this talented, this creative, OR this driven, but all three at once? I can't think of a second name to even mention.

This is the first time I have seen him ‘sitting!’ I have always seen him kneeling. Check him out with the John McLaughlin Trio...you’ll be AMAZED..👀
Around 2000, his doctor told him he had to change his style as his knees were giving him trouble.
@@duncaninglis3806 I know all about bad knees. I just bought a guitar stool! 😀
Those yellow-handled sticks around 13:30 are his signature stick model by Zildjian
