Interesting exploration of the X6200. Reminds me of the days when I used to disassemble competitors products to see how it worked. Thanks for that Steve! 73
If it was half the price then it would be good as an experimental test bed like the Quansheng handhelds, but for not much more you can buy a radio that works 100%.
Thank you for this video! I'm concerned about the root password, and emailed you around a responsible disclosure - would you mind responding? I don't think this should go unaddressed. Your videos are awesome and I really appreciate the technical deep-dives you take, thank you!
I’ve been watching your videos and I am just here to comment I was able to figure out full TX. I am able to transmit out of band. When modifying the files in the firmware, there are three different individual lines to write enable in place of disable. Hope that helps someone K4GST
Basically they prettied up the case a bit and jacked up the price another $200, which was already about $300 too high. I blew wwaaay too much on a 6100 , basically a $650 HEATER you can't hold with a bunch of stupid tiny red on blue text you can't read..Never again! Oh. and let's not forget the thousands of birdies and spurs from dirty dc-dc converters they just can't seem to fix..
Excellent work! Thanks Steve. Using the hash to find the pswd is fantastic. Reminds me of how we decoded the Enigma Machine.
You are welcome! The old ways are still the best
Awesome Steve!!! 👍👍👍

Glad I could bring back the memories!
Cyclone is an FPGA. A CPU can be implemented in rtl, although there is a version with an ARM cpu built in, in addition to FPGA blocks.
Thanks for the info.
Awesome, thank you so much! Its a great help to configure the crazy Wifi
Glad it helped!
Great info, i appreciate it, tnx Man!
Thanks for watching!

💯 if I was a new ham, it would be really hard to buy the x6200 over the Yaesu 710.

Is this a Xiegu custom Linux distribution ??
No, Its either "busybox" or "armbian", I don't recall... then Xiegu just added their stuff on top of it.

Were you able to get it to work? The X6100 procedure is different than the X6200 procedure and I haven't figured it out yet.
I totally read that as "wasn't" and then it sounded like you did. I confused myself. Email me about it and I'll get a video out on it.

Agreed... And they sold/will sell a ton of them... probably 2 tons worth.
