What are you using to keep the tracks clean, due to weather and I also wanted to know how long have you had the layout outdoors, are your switches connected to powered tortoises? I am in the middle of building and outdoor HO Scale using PECO tracks, pressure treated wood, stainless steel bolts and screws, and maybe.....maybe I will ballast. Looking at a few of your past videos it looks as though I can use your examples and ideas as tips, tricks, and tools on making mine successful also.

Also; how many days do you wait to run on your layout, after the rain has passed to confirm it is going to be a great run?

Garryflex abrasive blocks (the Fine grade) are better quality and value than model railway track rubbers. After rubbing the rails, I go round with a vacuum cleaner.
The DGR is now about 5 years old, and some of the timber is showing that it won't last forever.
None of the switches/points are motorised.
As long as the rail tops are clean and dry, you can run trains. Good luck with your project, and we hope to see some great videos soon!

thanks for the quick reply. I'm assuming the abbrasive blocks are similar to the sponge blocks used when panting/sanding a house. Yes I plan to show as much video as possible. Also someone advised me to use pressure treated wood. Supposedly it has a 20-25 year durability.
