@octivenote The one thing I vowed to never do in a video is destroy a toy. To me it's the worst of my huge collection but I am very fortunate to have that. To a less fortunate kid, it might be the only one he or she has and if I felt the urge to destroy a toy I'd much rather it go to someone who needs it. But I actually keep all the Addict victims in case I need to bring them back up in future episodes.
@@nucleonegro9762 If you place Laserbeak in Camcorder mode on the neck socket of the original Fortress Maximus, it fits in rather well. It looks unbelievably stupid, and isn't a super tight fit, but it can be done.
In the Unicron trilogy, Hasbro slapped the names of anyone who wasn’t Optimus, Megatron, or Starscream onto anyone without rhyme or reason. This character is only “Laserbeak” because it is a device that uses audio which turns into a robotic bird.
@@jinception01 Laserbeak doesn't look especially accurate to any particular model of camcorder that was around at the time. In fact, given his size, it would be expected that he is a digital camcorder, which were very expensive in 2002. So, obligatory "It's a Cybertronian design" handwave.
Found one of these at Savers yesterday, only missing strap. Debating whether to try customizing or selling... One thing I'll add is that it was way too big for my hands, but it's JUST small enough for Armada Unicron to hold
I dont mention accuracy because that's not how it works. Typically the toys take longer to develop than the cartoon does, so it's the cartoon that has to be accurate to the toys, not the other way around. You can tell in Energon and Cybertron, where they are even more accurate, some so accurate even the screw holes are present on the characters. Plus I try not to factor in the outside media, comics, cartoons, etc, because I want to judge just the toy by what the toy is by itself.
Fun fact, i got one of the comics with the minicon set and it has a small toy cataloge, most of the toys there are in prototype form with some changes, Laserbeak had black and red colors, like the g1 one
Which shows the most maturity. Not letting antiquated social norms tell you that something you enjoy one day must be something you magically must no longer enjoy the next.
Wait, I’ve got an idea. Perhaps he’s got two lenses so he can interpret depth properly and enable hologram projector interaction? I don’t know, that’d at least be interesting.
At 4:37, I finally figured out what exactly that other sound was; that had been bothering me for a while. Apparently, according to the TF Wiki entry I found, that other sound effect was supposed to be the sound of a video recording. Yeah, sounds nothing like that, but in case you were curious, there you go.
The reason why Laserbeak/Cyberhawk is orange and blue instead of the traditional G1 black and red is because he has a gun mode so Hasbro had to paint it orange and blue to avoid gun laws. Hey, he was orange and blue in the cartoon any way. It's the same reason why Classics Megatron was purple and green instead of black and silver. Besides, this isn't G1 anymore.
So just because he has a gun mode that doesn't at all look like a gun that even if a police officer saw it, I doubt he'd think there would be any danger, means he has to be in obnoxious orange and blue instead of black and red.
The two lenzes are actually an old thing some camera's had. One is a normal lens, the other is in fact a telescopic lens. The thing Lazerbeak lacks to actually make that part useful is the rotator that could switch out the two lens housings. Still, even if it had that, then they it would not look really that much akin the real thing.
I'm surprised that you didn't show that the samee wheel that flips out the wings also folds out the "stun gun" handle as well if you turn it in the opposite direction
Not surprised considering the very first Megatron transforms into a freaking GUN! I mean, this is the only time they ever have a weapon for an alt mode (not counting Mini-Cons), but still.
He doesn't have two lenses, he has one lens and one barrel. He actually has a "fourth mode" formed by... leaving his viewfinder panel closed in Camcorder Mode. It's some kind of a stun gun, which the kids on the show used a few times. Of all the modes, it's the most tenuous and dubious. That's actually why he has the laser sound on one of his top buttons, so that the "stun gun" can "zap" whatever you poke with it.
I didn't even know this toy was intended for other colors and I agree, bad bad choise. More so since there are actually camera's that look like Laserbeaks gunmode, handle included.
@elvixteo lol, I try to keep the normal reviews cleaner than that, there are kids that watch these! For the dirty jokes go see the Inappropriate countdown.
I still can't believe they had Laserbeak as an Autobot in Armada, who here remembers Laserbeak protecting the kids in G1, no wait he was always trying to kill them, or in the movie for that matter, no wait he was a psychotic serial killer who threw Jerry Wong out the window, shot up an office and blew away a little girl and her family just for fun
Was anybody else cringing at the fact that in armada laser beak was an autobot instead of a deceptacon as a Soundwave fan this made me rage so much I made an oath to never buy armada laser beak I hate the character and the toy from armada but any other laser beak is awesome well maybe not titanium but no forget that one find your happy place find your happy place.
Ok Starscream turning into a Autobot made sense but Soundwave wasn't in Armada but yet that thing was with the greatest character name on it was not Laserbeak
@Mrbandit81 Yes, that thought did cross my mind. But the thoughts that followed: That makes either the camera view or the gun VERY small, and there's still no point because it would look better with just one large lens.
Very creative with the spoof of Hoarders...I have to say, though, I like the two "eyes" in the bird mode. Too bad there is not practicality built into the camcorder mode. I say make it into a real camcorder that transforms into Laserbeak (and get rid of the "gun" mode). I am thinking along the lines of Music Label Soundwave or Device Label Ravage. Sure it would be uber expensive, but hey, I think it would be cool to shoot Transformers reviews using a working, transforming camcorder.
I guess one of the "lenses" could be a slide/ bolt return spring and guide and the other is the barrel. And its a transformer so I think it could get away with multi-functioning parts. As a variation of what some one else said earlier
It's crazy to think that 9 years later, a smartphone would have three lenses and it's the iPhone 11. The one problem I have with this toy is WHY IS LASERBEAK AN AUTOBOT?! Laserbeak is supposed to be one of Soundwave's henchmen along with Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Buzzsaw and many others. So, that means Laserbeak is supposed to be a Decepticon.
My theory on the two lenses is the larger lense is the gun barrel and the longer, thinner lense is one of those laser sight things that some guns have, it works for gun mode and bird mode but for camcoder mode......not so much.
you know i was wondering..in bird mode...can the handle for the gun(the grey piece) still come out...cuz if it does...well...it'll look reeeeally inappopriate :P
@Mrspikeprime ever since the movies came out the main Autobots have been Optimus, Bumblebee and Ratchet and the main Decepticons have been Megatron and Starscream
@chupacabra500 Dont be a pest. If I'm not posting a video, there are reasons for it, and pestering me is the last thing that's going to get me to bring it back.
hmmmmm My guess was they were originally goingfor the shorter and wider lens to be the camera lens while the secone longer and thinner lens be the blaster's barrel. Also having two would help make an arc for the stun gun effect. but thats just my guess. maybe im looking to deep into it
@bannedstory01234 Also I see one lens as a wide scan where there other could be a telescopic for really close up shots yet still allow him to be far away in bird mode since he is a scout
Guess the 2 parts on laserbeaks head could be for the camera, an the 2nd for the gun part. Just wondering an don't take the wrong way, but did that cross your mind? the camera an gun mode, that would make since why there was 2 on there? that's the only thing that comes to mind at the moment, an your right the gun mode handle looks short. Looks like a cool toy to me, plus looked cool in the cartoon as well.
Well it's my opinion that you can grow up AND still enjoy something from your childhood as a responsible hobby. It's also my opinion that you shouldn't tell people what to do with their lives based on just your opinion, it's rude and condescending. In short, I dont "need" to do anything you say.
One lense is for the stun gun, other is for the camcorder. Or this could be a night vision camcorder in which case one of them would be an IR illuminator.
wanna know what makes less sense? armada's second sequel, Cybertron introduced Soundwave, and he had a version of Laserbeak that was still called laserbeak, with no explanation as to why it has the same name, or if it's even the same bot or not.
I've been to a few garage sales to pick up several unicron trilogy figures, and got a couple beast wars figures, too, I like my weapon-less Armada starscream a lot more than my complete Jawbreaker. Starscream 1. Is one I grew up with 2. Is a hell of a lot simpler to transform.
Great vid (though it actually makes me REALLY want this toy). I think the buttons on top are for the bird mode of Laserbeak. The first button is all about its role as a spy, taking a picture and relaying it back. The second button are the sounds from its laser and then its beak. But this is all just my observed guesses. Oh, and you need two lenses to video in 3D. All 3D cameras have two lenses. Thanks again for the videos,

It has 2 lenses
1. To be accurate to the TV show
2. Maybe the other lens is a gun, or used for 3D filming
There are accessories that can make a camcorder film in 3D?
Or the lenses are eyes.
***** That was in 2010. This was in 2002, when the cartoon was a glorified toy commercial.
