I’m begging you guys to watch the 2021 and 2022 tape. As a massive College fan it pains me to hear Bowers is bad in traffic. He’s probably the best in the draft in that regard with his tape/stats/analytics whatever. The only way you could possibly have that take is if you watched very little of him

If he’s there, I think Odunze is the best pick. I like Nabers more, but moving Garrett into the slot and allowing Odunze to work on his development as WR3 while also being an undervalued safety net behind Garrett and Mike Will in case of injury would be a great situation. If Garrett goes down, they’d be wasting Rodgers having Mike Will/Lazard/Gipson as their top 3. I also think there are developable OT prospects like Rosengarten, Fisher, or Amegadjie who would have an opportunity to develop the right way if they could bring in Bahktiari and also have Warren show some backup capability. A rookie OT doesn’t need to see the field in that scenario. I don’t see any scenario where a rookie WR doesn’t see the field. Count me out on Bowers. I’m his biggest hater, and I’ll leave it at that.

  • @Luke-kv5tp

It's rare indeed for a rookie lineman to just plug in and be average or better right away. It takes a year or two at least. If you are drafting for Rogers, you need to get guys at positions that you expect immediate production. If you are drafting for a future QB, yes, build your line. If you already have a QB for this year, it's too late.
BTW, no competent GM is drafting J.C. Latham over Brock Bowers, even if they have an All Pro at TE and need a lineman.

  • @misterblint9511
    @misterblint9511 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

You guys are children. I’ve been a jets fan since 1966. I can tell you, the jets have been good when they had receivers that DONT DROP THE BALL! Last year, as bad as it was, Zach threw so many good passes that were dropped. And don’t tell me some of the passes were not on target. The best passers have receivers that can catch the ball if it’s over their head or a slightly behind. If Lazard is on the field, they will be in trouble. But NOT BOWERS! This draft has great receivers and we need to get a good one. I’d love to trade down, get Latham, take one of the second tier receivers later in the draft, like a slot guy , maybe malik Washington from Virginia. As far as the line? Douglas put together a line that never even saw the field last year! They have to figure out the cause of the injuries. The best jets teams had HEALTHY olines. The jets are among the league leaders in injury days every year since 2016. They have to fix that.

Fan since 1975.. and I agree with you too many of these TH-camrs and social media jet fan analyst are a little too young to have seen when the Jets were really good. Those jet teams of the 80s, the 90s and even the early 2000s all had a few things in common.
      1. Elite Defensive lines that got to the QB and stopped the Run
      2. Offensive lines that had well above average players, stayed healthy, opened holes for RBs and decently protected our QBs
      3. Had an elite RB
      4. Had 2WRs that caught the ball
      5. Had above average special teams
Truly when I think of it, this NYJ teams has more talent across the entire team than many of those older teams. This NYJ team lacks a healthy, competent Oline, a DT that can stop the run, force double teams and get QB pressure from the inside, but we finally have a QB that has enough talent to win a Super Bowl. The last quarterback we had that was this good was Joe Namath. We may have better talent at pass rusher than we’ve ever had. I think our DBs are comparable to what we had in 2009-2011, if we can sign or draft a talented safety, then this defensive backfield might be the best we’ve ever had.

The fact that nobody’s brought this up on any show that I’ve heard blows my mind. The reason you take the elite offensive tackle over the elite receiver is very simple.. at the trade deadline if the New York Jets are really in contention and the team looks like a team that could cause some trouble in the playoffs for everybody, Aaron Rodgers is looking great, but we’re just a little bit short at wide receiver to make a serious run at Super Bowl and see it, Joe Douglas will go out and trade for an Elite wide receiver, and I can guarantee you they’ll be some available because they are every single year. But now the flipside of that if the Jets only had somebody who could block Aaron‘s blindside that left tackle, this is a team that could really do some damage there’s no guarantee you can trade for an elite blindside tackle for Aaron Rodgers. And there’s nobody reading this comment can say that’s not the truth with the straight face. I know there’s that one year there was an elite tackle. You can tell me about the one year out of the last 40 there wasn’t a elite receiver, but in reality receivers easier to find

Before the game starts we are already out coached & that cannot be discounted. We have arguably the worst HC & offensive coaching staff in the league.
Penalties , missed tackles all signs of a lack of discipline & that is directly on the coaching staff .
We're going to have growing pains due to a completely revamped OL who more than likely will sit out the vets during training camp & OL takes time to jell.
I expect a competitive team & a playoff appearance but I see us falling short of a legit threat to get to the SB... too many ????

And it makes 110% sense why Jets fans wouldn’t want a legitimate guaranteed stud at TE for the next 10+ years.

@@jetsbabyy8117 Sure, but if there's a legitimate guaranteed stud at TE in the draft, he ain't Brock Bowers. I think his contested catching rank in his class is something like #83. For a tight end, that's not just some insignificant detail. His film has some really impressive plays, I'll grant you; he catches a short pass, gets stopped and stood up by a linebacker, and he keeps churning his legs and churning his legs and manages to turn a 2 yard gain into an 8 yard gain. But in the NFL, that linebacker is going to be joined by a second and third defender almost immediately.
I've got a pricking in my thumbs that JD is going to take him, especially as last year the Jets draft board had TE Michael Meyers right behind WMD, so I hope I'm wrong. And if I'm right, I hope he learns that you don't slow down and look for the ball when you know you're the target, and you don't let the ball cross your face while you're looking it in. If he improves his ball handling, his contested catch issue goes away.
