- Bathing a Standard Poodle | In this video I demonstrate how to wash a Standard Poodle.
I use a concentrated shampoo and mixed it with warm water.
I wash the head last and rinse it right away and then continue on with the body.
Make sure you wash in between the toes and pads of the feet.

Sweet dog .... and I love your bath ... dog size. I have a white female standard poodle who seems to love getting filthy and will play in mud .... gggrrrrrrrr ..... I use Isle of Dogs shampoo cause it does the job in 1 wash and use baby shampoo on the head so no stinging. Oh yeah Isle of Dogs shampoo isn't cheap but natural, less work and smells divine. I just got a standard poodle pup. Need advice on home bathing for the in between groomer visits. Hopefully I can do this at home majority of the time. Plus trim under his tail area.
It will get easier with practice. I recommend going to the groomer between 4 to 8 weeks at the longest. 8 weeks if you get him clipped very short. Short hair is easier to take care of. Bath in-between and brush and comb for a mat free coat.
Do you recommend using a washcloth or loofah sponge instead of just rubbing the shampoo with your hands?
I like to use my hands, however I have used a body sponge on short haired dogs. It may work for longer coats but I have never tried. I like my hands so that I can feel the dogs skin for any abnormalities and to make sure the coat is clean
How often do you bathe your dog?
I give my Poodles a bath every 2 to 4 weeks.

Hi, you can wet them but put cotton in the ears so water does not go in. It's usually best to wait until after the ears are treated to give the dog a bath. The ears get very greasy with the medication and then once the treatment is over you can give the dog a bath. I have bathed many dogs with ear infections with no harm done. I would clean out the ear and get all the debree out and refer to a vet for treatment. If in the middle of a treatment than it's best to wait until the treatment is finished and the ears are healthy. Hope this helps.
