I love the things he says as an arsenal fan. He understand that before you can start working on anything, the culture and mentality around the club and everyone in it has to change. Marie Tedla honestly if we spent as much we spent this summer, we could be challengers. All we need is a few defenders and maybe a midfielder, and if Aubameyang/Lacazette want to leave we can get good money from them and get quick replacements. I wonder if the board knew that Arteta would not want to move until after the ManU game, though? Perhaps, the long list of candidates was a bit of a ruse? Cheers!
I never bothered watching Emery after his first few press conferences cos I could never understand what he was trying to say. Arteta is interesting, clear and concise i think I’ll watch all of his press conferences. Communication with media, players and fans is so important
So many managers turn up abroad & will hardly even attempt to learn from the offset, Emery always made an effort. His time at the club was sub-par, but mocking a man for the quality of his fourth language is low.
Emery was always saying they'd do better next time, and this time never came. So I stopped reading to his statements.

@@aeroalexGR I could understand him fine, he just never said anything very specific and repeated the same answers over and over like a politician. It was not confidence inducing at all. Both Freddie and now Mikel speak very directly and forthrightly, they don't dodge or dissemble. That kind of clarity is very important in building a solid identity, which was Arsenal's main problem, just ahead of needing some new central defenders, imo.

Im optimistic, Mikel is clear and direct. He used the key word....PASSION....clean slate. They perform in training....they get to play, they don't perform they won't play. We might not make top 4 this season but I'm looking forward to next season.......also I hope they back him with funding for our defence.

As much as Mikel is inexperienced, when listening to him, i cant help but feel confidence with him at the helm. Hes spoken more sense in his few interviews hes been in, than Emery did the whole time he was with us. Whether he has an effect immediately or it takes a bit of time, I feel he can take us to a point where we are competing for silverware, whether that is in the league or in Europe
He really understands the mentality needed for the EPL, which I don't think Emery ever really did. Every game is a fight. Freddie understands this too, and I think the two of them combined with the rest of the staff that Arteta will bring in will instill the needed fight in the team and get us headed in the right direction. I think there is still a slim chance of a top 4 finish this year, but a top 6 is more likely. Much will depend on if they can get some quality defenders in January, and maybe one midfielder. The future is very bright, although there will still be a few dim days to get through going forward.
This is what I want to hear..fabulous press conference. Arteta is man to take us to another level. May Allah help you my new arsenal manager.

How successful we will be depends on why the board signed him. Is it because they really felt he was the best among the lot (if they really considered anyone else) or if it is because he agreed to work within their budget. He surely knows what he wants, can he make this lot do it is the question. Don't want to sound negative, I don't trust our board who are a group of liars, they will not back him.

Arteta is a good manager from Arsenal. He is intelligent, articulate and has natural leadership in him. Moreover, in press conferences he doesn’t dodge the questions and beat around the bush. He says what needs to be said in a direct manner. He has been in the premier league for a long time and had been working under one of the greatest coaches in this generation. If the board, fans and players get behind him he will do arsenal wonders. Good job Arsenal board, at least you are good for something. Unlike Glazers FC and baby faced assassin.

Until we can get some better defenders, we just need them to play sound fundamental defense with real commitment. I think a 4-2-3-1 with the two screening mids staying together and not getting caught out of position would go a long way to preventing much of the nonsense we've seen this year. That, and not playing out of the back all the time, sometimes you just have to send it up the field to keep the other team honest, especially when you have some speed like Martinelli, Auba and Laca around. Pepe still needs to toughen up for the EPL, imo. COYG !!!
