Lake Murray SC - 4K (DJI Mavic Pro Footage) Stunning Aerial Views of Columbia's Lake!!

Lake Murray is a large and Beautiful lake 20 minutes west of Columbia, South Carolina. The large lake is approximately 50,000 acres and has 650 miles of shoreline. The lake is fed by the Saluda River and was impounded in the late 1920's to provide hydroelectric power. The Saluda Dam ( was Dreher Shoal Dam) was the largest earthen dam in the World when it was completed in 1930. The dam is approximately 1.5 miles long and 220 feet high. Lake Murray is 41 miles long and 14 miles at it's widest point. At the time of completion , Lake Murray was the World's Largest Man-made Reservoir! It's hard to believe that this massive lake is the 5th largest in the state of South Carolina now?
Lake Murray is named after the project's chief engineer - William S. Murray.

Lived on the lake in the mid 70s.
Our house was next to our Marina.
It was called Bucks Marina.
We had the fastest boat on the lake.
Tahiti/Olds/Berkeley jet.
