What a delight to see Russ out and hanging with you guys, he's a class gentleman is Russ. Always learn something new watching your videos Darren and this was no exception, thanks as always for taking the time to share this ~Peace~
Someone has probably mentioned this already but that tin holder that came with your stove should be folded in both sides to give a more secure grip without it swinging back and forth.
That pot lifter? Bend the two outside sections ninety degrees inward so both sides fit on the tin. Then it won't pivot around. Then take the tab at the top and bend it out wards to make a handle.
Thanks for posting Funky. I am watching this morning while I have my coffee. I appreciate what you guys do and how you share your skills with the rest of us. Have a safe day! Anthony.
TO re-iterate you definitely do not want a dull knife. As a chef I can tell you, a dull knife will still cut you. and you will put a lot more force into what you are doing with a dull knife, and WHEN it slips (because a dull knife will slip) you will be putting a lot more force into it when it cuts you. That's how you loose digits people.
That was the coolest coffee maker I've ever seen! The French mre looked great also as well the tactical walking stick. Probably the most unique functional set up I've seen. Enjoyed watch you guys.
Trick to using the tarp in the rain is to have one of the front corners tilted slightly lower and have the water run away from the inside of your sleeping area, this allows the roof to drain off.
thanks for the vid lads ,you've really giiven me the goo for a bit of outdoors camping under the moon in the pissing rain with a nice fire and plenty of gadgets,im so glad people like you are on you tube keep up the good work and if you lot are ever in ireland please give me a shout and ill give you some good intel on some tidy camping spots.
I would say that little handle thing you had to lift your main meal off the stove with you need to bend it in a v shape so both hooks hold it steady. great vid, all the best Ranger
hehe, when you pulled out the big blade, that line from croc dundee flashed across my tiny mind, that's not a knife.......now THIS is a knife hehe if memory serves, the handle gadget for the rations, folds like the stove, two wings come forward, so both grip the meal container and the handle folds back at whatever angle you like like a pan handle, looks like you guys had fun, cheers dave
What a beast of a blade... scratch that what beast of blades you displayed! :) I would have loved to be there. Good company alwayes out trumps bad weather. All the best buddy! Rob
Great video! II enjoy camping in the rain--especially a light rain. Hunting squirrels in a light rain is a blast, then after the rain the cottontails are out and this combo makes for a great hunt.
get some webbing and make a loop with at least 3 inches on both sides of the loop and use a 2 part epoxy to glue the loop to the bug tent where you want it you can do the same thing with tarps hope that helps you out ATB to you and the guys
for the piece you use to pick up your hot food that comes with the folding cooking stand. i think you were suppose to fold that as well so your container does not tilt.
You’ve done it again another grate video. With the handle thing from the French MRE you should bend it in half and hook it on to the can makes it much more secure.
Hey there Funky, good to see you out again and your vids are as good as ever! That looks like a very neat convex knife..Hope all good with you. All the best Vee
Looks to have been a nice camp. Shame about the rain but some might argue it's "character building" lol. My new years resolution of one camp a month went to shit pretty quick didn't it! But it's watching 4 top blokes getting out and doing what they love that reminds me how important it is to get away from things for a night. Cheers for taking us along mate, Atb, K
Actually I think it was Russ. Haaa ha. The aircraft really do invade our space. I hate em but it's a part of modern life now. Great camp out Darren. I knew the chair wouldn't last. Take care and have a good camp with Jezza. See you at the gathering Sandy
i think you have to bend that tool into shape for taking the food of the fire so that you have two hooks to stop it swinging great videos love what you guy do keep up the good work ex raoc
Wicked video Funky watch the whole thing , that coffee maker is on point man , got to get myself one ! im 20 years old and really into prepping get lots n lots of good ideas from you , cheers mate ! ;) i will be making some videos very soon
Good God man! I was screaming at the screen, well, nearly anyway. Fold the grabber. it won't be so precarious to lift the tin with. I wonder how many have posted the same thing? Well I am gonna post it anyway.
If your looking for a really light, strong, packable stool, (thats quite cheep) try this one - Robens folding Discover Stool Review . Enjoyed the vid :-)
Hey Funky just a warning on that little red folding seat you have. I got mine a while ago for Christmas and I unfolded it and went to sit on it and BAM in front of both my parents and sister the seat collapsed and the triangle pointy was still pointing upwards so you can guess how that ended (me writhing in pain on the floor in front of my family lol) and by the way i am only 17 5'6 and 140 pounds. What happened was the rivets at the bottom of the chair broke. So my dad (after laughing his head off) put 2 heavy duty bolts in place of them.
There is a place by me that sells the 3 leg stools and they hold up to 400 pounds. Only thing is that they are $50. But your chair breaking made me think of something. You should do a blooper video.
Great dirt time out in them thar woods again. Defo wanna spend a day trek/recce the whole place. Still got the image of you collapsing off the tripod lol..it was like one minute 3 of us were simply chatting then all of a sudden you're 45 degs horizontal on my ground sheet lol :-)) good repair on it lasted the rest of the time mate. Good to see Russ having some chill time. Cheers camo kid ATB Calorie kid lol
Hey Darren, I had one of those chairs when I was about 10 years old, now 66 did not think that they still made them, brilliant little seat, that was fantastic getting that deer in shot, I like the coffee pot mate, where do you get that from??
What was the defense formation , I wonder of your Tent Setups..(thinking about mobs coming in to your camp) ? 11:50 wow....eating with style, on a bug out..awesome ;-)
funky that tool you used to take the french mrs off the fire, your supposed to ben it so you have 2hooks on the side of the tin to stop it swinging...its painful watching you swing it around
Another great vid! Like the cigar case and coffee percolator. Will be getting those! Thought you could use those clips that you use on the DPM basha to pull the back of the mozi tent out?
A prefer tarps. Ideally you don't even need any poles, just some cordage and pegs, both of which you can improvise. Plus tarps are more universal, if you have one big enough you can make a tent out of a tarp.
+Keith Richards ~ For all in-tents-and purpose, lol What they use is tent material, it's just not with the sewn seams, zippers, post, and stakes to make it a "tent". One could do the same with tarps, but "tarps" come in blue, orange, mostly not camo and are not as hardy (will ware faster) and they weigh a bit more (stiffer too). Your best investment in any outdoor venture IS a sleeping bag! They'll keep you warm and cool....keep bugs out too! If anyone asked me what to spend the most on, I'd say get a quality panga of sort knife , small water filter and a good sleeping bag! You'll be set! (well depending) lol Remember, bring a lighter, or bring a ferrocerium rod and magnesium!
I liked your hootch setup. Def using the DPM basha was the wise choice I'm sure as far as letting in a lot of light. BTW the chair is GTG you just gotta loose some weight Darren! LOL J/K :) Yeah those French rations look spot on. They put everything you need in them. I vaguely remember way back when that they used to have wine with them? i could be wrong. Anyhow loved the vid as always. Cheers Ken
What a delight to see Russ out and hanging with you guys, he's a class gentleman is Russ. Always learn something new watching your videos Darren and this was no exception, thanks as always for taking the time to share this ~Peace~

Just what I was about to post haha
haha
James Mcmurrough XDDDd
Then if you look to the least the others squatting lol now I'm not suggesting he's having a shit but it made me laugh
Us old guys still get out in the wilds. I appreciate your knowledge. Carry on.
Someone has probably mentioned this already but that tin holder that came with your stove should be folded in both sides to give a more secure grip without it swinging back and forth.
yes - 6 times lol
thanks bro
funkyprepper
lol sorry, I thought they prob had but had a look through the comments and couldn't see any
That pot lifter? Bend the two outside sections ninety degrees inward so both sides fit on the tin. Then it won't pivot around. Then take the tab at the top and bend it out wards to make a handle.
Peter Charles lol, i thought the same thing.
+Peter Charles From the looks of it, that is the way it is designed to be used . . . . . ;>)
+Peter Charles my thoughts exactly.... it got on my tits the third time he used it....
did think he had it right. love to find one of those cook setups.
pmsl, I thought that as well.
Thats why I like to keep my tarp at the top, quick access in the event the weather changes upon arrival at base camp.
Great Video Daz.
Thanks for posting Funky. I am watching this morning while I have my coffee. I appreciate what you guys do and how you share your skills with the rest of us. Have a safe day! Anthony.
Enjoyed that and meeting your friends.
+Kym Frohwein I agree with you, but a blunt knife is better than no knife
Awesome video funky prepper! Thanks! A lot of good tips.
love the way u bring a little humor to it. French food gives me the trots.
Excellent vid. Love the bergan and shelter. Can't beleave you got it for a pound. Awesome... :-)
That was the coolest coffee maker I've ever seen! The French mre looked great also as well the tactical walking stick. Probably the most unique functional set up I've seen. Enjoyed watch you guys.
THANKS MAN
+funkyprepper
where are you ?
i ride my bike on days like that covered in shit makes me feel alive
he's in portsmouth area acording to one of his maps in his go bag
Trick to using the tarp in the rain is to have one of the front corners tilted slightly lower and have the water run away from the inside of your sleeping area, this allows the roof to drain off.
well at least the fun part of survival is finding and using the gadgets in the otherwise dreary purpose behind the need for prepping and survival
The older we get, the more difficult rucking gets.
thanks for the vid lads ,you've really giiven me the goo for a bit of outdoors camping under the moon in the pissing rain with a nice fire and plenty of gadgets,im so glad people like you are on you tube keep up the good work and if you lot are ever in ireland please give me a shout and ill give you some good intel on some tidy camping spots.

I would say that little handle thing you had to lift your main meal off the stove with you need to bend it in a v shape so both hooks hold it steady.

Wandering Ranger
If you can enjoy that kind of thing (11:52)...disgusting. At least it wasn't snails. Otherwise always a good vid to watch.

hehe, when you pulled out the big blade, that line from croc dundee flashed across my tiny mind, that's not a knife.......now THIS is a knife hehe if memory serves, the handle gadget for the rations, folds like the stove, two wings come forward, so both grip the meal container and the handle folds back at whatever angle you like like a pan handle, looks like you guys had fun, cheers dave

What a beast of a blade... scratch that what beast of blades you displayed! :)
I would have loved to be there.

Great video! II enjoy camping in the rain--especially a light rain. Hunting squirrels in a light rain is a blast, then after the rain the cottontails are out and this combo makes for a great hunt.
Brilliant.
You're supposed to bend that small metal bracket .. ;) .. so you have two contact points with can.
ok thanks
I use same set up but I took one pole away from the sections and made it lower profile, cant beat brit army mossy net as a shelter. Gud vid funk!
get some webbing and make a loop with at least 3 inches on both sides of the loop and use a 2 part epoxy to glue the loop to the bug tent where you want it you can do the same thing with tarps hope that helps you out ATB to you and the guys

Good Vid Funky! I love watching these vids, chills me out haha.
I'm doubtful of the effectiveness of the Esbit Emergency stove. Didn't stop me from buying one two days ago though. Thank you for testing it out.
You’ve done it again another grate video. With the handle thing from the French MRE you should bend it in half and hook it on to the can makes it much more secure.

America is great in war, so I love them
Lol I did the aame thiing with that foldable chair. Love the coffee maker mate. Atb Ron
lmao at 27.21 the guy taking a piss behind you
The tin carrying gadget should be bent inwards on both sides also the tail should be bent backwards to be used as a handle.
Hey Darren, At 27:23 did I see Pete having a pee? Now I will go back and watch the rest.
Actually I think it was Russ. Haaa ha.
The aircraft really do invade our space. I hate em but it's a part of modern life now. Great camp out Darren. I knew the chair wouldn't last.
Take care and have a good camp with Jezza.
See you at the gathering
Sandy
I like the coffee maker Esbit. was it. very nice.
Brilliant, cheers i think i will get one ordered!!
Does it weigh much??
I bet i can pack my brew kit into the pot to keep it altogether.
Great video mate
better to slightly open the lid on the duck and mash would heat better
Love it m8 grate vid
i think you have to bend that tool into shape for taking the food of the fire so that you have two hooks to stop it swinging great videos love what you guy do keep up the good work ex raoc

esbit coffee maker
Where did you get the coffee pot from?? It's an ideal bit of kit!!
Cheers Dave-uk
esbit coffee maker
nice set up...i need a basha!!
Wow, those French mre's look way better than American mre's, which are freeze dried.😳.
Rachel Martin I would quit the army if our mre looked like that, so I dont even want to imagine yours :D. Freeze dried usually is crap though
There is a place by me that sells the 3 leg stools and they hold up to 400 pounds. Only thing is that they are $50. But your chair breaking made me think of something. You should do a blooper video.

esbit coffee maker
cheers
Do you know where I can purchase one of these please??
Hi Darren, I did get one of those coffee pots, they are briliant.
I had a load of those stools when i used to go fishing... they were all shite :-)
Was that a bit of Sheila Chandra sneaked into the soundtrack???
Way hey I was the thousandth like!! Ordered the french MRE much better than American or U.K.
Could you tell me more about your small coffee pot? Thank you, keep up the great job I love your vedioes.
What was the defense formation , I wonder of your Tent Setups..(thinking about mobs coming in to your camp) ?
11:50 wow....eating with style, on a bug out..awesome ;-)
19:09 please tell me I wasn't the only one that tried to smell this hahah
funky that tool you used to take the french mrs off the fire, your supposed to ben it so you have 2hooks on the side of the tin to stop it swinging...its painful watching you swing it around
Another great vid! Like the cigar case and coffee percolator. Will be getting those!
Thought you could use those clips that you use on the DPM basha to pull the back of the mozi tent out?
do you guys have tenacious tape in the UK? I believe that is what it's called, it does a great job of repairing tents and tarps..
Nice video, Thanks!
I bet if you fold that can handler it wouldn't swing around... ? :)
dude! im giving you an like just for the predator music. awesome XD
lmfao hamburger hill!!! love it
I had won of those camo hunter shirts when I was a hunter lol
Does the dish tool bend in the middle so you could slip both of the tabs onto the rim? It seems that two tabs along the side would grip better.
Looks like a great night out. Shame you had to rough it with all that French food though!
sure was rick - the food was above average in the ration world lol
99p store has those little pocket chairs in the camping section
i tried one before (as i mentioned) and it fell to bits lol
I love how you "Survivalists" don't use tents. The only thing you need for outside survival is a tent and a sleeping bag.
A prefer tarps. Ideally you don't even need any poles, just some cordage and pegs, both of which you can improvise. Plus tarps are more universal, if you have one big enough you can make a tent out of a tarp.

They'll keep you warm and cool....keep bugs out too!
If anyone asked me what to spend the most on, I'd say get a quality panga of sort knife , small water filter and a good sleeping bag! You'll be set! (well depending) lol
Remember, bring a lighter, or bring a ferrocerium rod and magnesium!
Tarping sounds cool but my biggest thing is what about mosquitos?? and other critters. They're bad around here. tent = shelter = not being eaten alive
lol when you were talking away from camp. in the background one of you friends was taking a leak behind you.
I liked your hootch setup. Def using the DPM basha was the wise choice I'm sure as far as letting in a lot of light. BTW the chair is GTG you just gotta loose some weight Darren! LOL J/K :)
Yeah those French rations look spot on. They put everything you need in them. I vaguely remember way back when that they used to have wine with them? i could be wrong. Anyhow loved the vid as always.
Cheers
Ken
