Also, once you get up a bit you’ll realize most people who want to “help” you really just want to capitalize off of what you’ve built. Being independent is HARD but it really is worth it if you’re able to turn it into a real business. Keep going y’all. Took me 5 years to hit 1k monthly. Took me 1.5 after that to hit 200k monthly

Well done mate, that's real persistence & it's paid off. I just keep moving forward no matter what & while I find success comes easily when I've built momentum, it inevitably plateaus when I take necessary breaks. It can take months to build again.
I heard somewhere "It's not about getting from point 1 to 2 - its better to drive hard for 1.5, then whatever happens next, your momentum alone will get you to 2" (it loses a bit removed from its original context, basically talking about 'tipping points'). It's not saying 2 isn't where you're aiming for or that you should set your goals low. The takeaway for me was focus on being able to keep the ground you make, take time to consolidate if necessary before you start the next stage if the "climb." A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. But then you've got to repeat that step, your stride will never get longer - you've just got to keep going forward by that increment, but even if it's only a half-stride, you're still closer to your goal. So make twice as many of those, if necessary, just never, ever, sit down & stop & then complain you never got to the City paved with Gold.
Apologies for the Mixed Metaphor 😂 I enjoy writing too much!

I must confess that, initially, I was so... "exasperated" I guess is the best word; that I didn't really see your perspective. This Vid is right to have a "Trigger ⚠️ Warning " because I'm STILL thinking about it days later.
Now I see where you're coming from; & you're absolutely right. I would, I still do, seek out those who would give me honest feedback - when people told me what I DIDN'T want to hear, that's when I LISTEN MOST INTENTLY.
I suffer from Imposter Syndrome (prob from my Sports background, sportspeople being the most affected profession) so it's really hard for me to accept success.
People want short-cuts & it doesn't work that way - you've got to get the fundamentals right, your Art needs to be DECENT, preferably Good, but not Perfect. In fact anecdotally I've noticed listeners actually like work I consider seriously flawed more than that which is technically closer to perfect.
But people like 🤡 just want to watch videos that are gonna deliver the "cheat codes" & Adam makes it clear - he's pulling back a curtain to give us a look at what WE need to do, NOT giving us The One True Recipe for success. He's giving us the Potatoes, we bring the Meat & we gotta source & chop the salad, right?
Peace mate; good luck in your endeavors (& we can make our own luck, right?) ✌🇳🇿

This morning I released a new song. Although progress is visible, I still felt bad coz it was as if growth was too small. I yelled out, "this is hard! I'm tired!”. It's funny because it was around the same time I got the notification for this video. I really needed to hear this. Been looking for the easy way for a while. I still need to put in the work. Music marketing is hard, but so is everything else.

Absolutely, mate. I enjoy making music but at the end of the day you gotta get it out there. But here's a bit of psychology for you. Because I have been getting much higher numbers than guys who were more advanced & experienced in music than me, I got Imposter Syndrome. I started to second guess my production because my organic self promo, a big part of which is Adam's Social Media tactics (I apply them to different platforms, but that just proves they work even more).
Eventually I realized that out of all my engagements & comments, plus private conversation & DMs, I'd not had one negative comment & many folks talking in superlatives. That snapped me out of it.

@@fletcherdaniel2133 Yes, I've found the more you put out there, the more chance you have of keeping people engaged. I think there's a "Debut Release Syndrome" out there; Indie Artists can't expect to really make a splash with their 1st Release.
I'm lining up my Prods to Release as Singles, each spaced (timed) to fall like dominos, keeping momentum. At the end of each run I can gather them together & promote them as an "Album," giving me another shot.
Bet often, bet small. I don't gamble but if I were to, I know in Blackjack it's all about time at the table. Releasing an Album is "All In."

For the first time in my life, it’s finally clicked that becoming the person I wanna be starts with doing the things that the person I wanna be would do. Such a simply concept, but one that I’ve subconsciously ignored for years while I waited around for some mysterious force to come and change my habits over night. I have drive, I have motivation, I have passion, I’ve just never channeled those things into actions that’ll actually help my career. Today that stops.

I’ll never stop. I’m Vibing with 300+ views a video on Tik Tok or 200+ views on my IG (got hacked @ 1k ARE YOU KIDDING ME), anyways.
My point is….. bro 6 posts in 1 month. And you “don’t know what to do, you’re ‘lost’, you need to be ‘managed’?”
No you need to stop looking for hand outs and work for another 10 years posting 6 times a day. If you’re really “up next”, uhh wouldn’t you have posted more? Had more? Built more? Brand wise, Music wise, Fan wise???
Lazy & Undetermined is what I’m seeing.

Millions of artists and musicians will never be discovered. Me included. I just don’t have the mindset of promoting myself.
In fact, I despise a lot of what it all demands.
For example, that “😮😮😮😮😮” face what you have to present in the thumbnails to get clicks is just ridiculous. Entertainment is a lie….”A LIE STEVEN!!! “ -Nacho Libre (those magic eggs were a lie, Steven!”)
I know, no one ever understands my humor either. It’s okay.
But…if you don’t have the entrepreneur in you, you don’t 🤷‍♀️
Do art for your own sake, not others.
Maybe you’ll be discovered anyways just because you did it and became better of it through the years. Lots of this is about to be at the right place at right time. Lots of this is fate of a person. Not everyone could even handle the success.
So relax and do what you love and be humble. And don’t e-mail stupid questions 🤣

Before I started pursuing my passion towards music I didn't know who I wanted to be. Everyday I asked myself Who do you want to be? I was searching for years, I was searching that passion, that fire within me. I didn't have any self-confidence when I started this I wanted to quit. The love and support I was receiving stopped that from happening. Everyday people was telling me to keep going. They gave me so motivation to the point where I didn't want to stop. Thank god I'm in a college that teaches this material including the teachers that actually care about this. The college even helped me with financial problems and the money that I received I used it on music. Im the main character in my journey I'll take full responsibility on a dream that I want to receive. Also Thank You Adam for your content that helped me on this journey. Much Love Brother ❤

You don't want the reason why this music shit don't work is because of a lack of effort -J COLE
    a little message from me
If you going into this music stuff because you believe that it will finally make you happy understand happiness comes from within. No matter how much fame you have, how much money you have, that pain won't go away until the memories you've gathered are the ones that you want and you make peace with your self and until you're pushing forward towards your dreams for you. there's a lot of money to be made in the music industry but you can make more money in other fields I don't think going into this for the money is a good idea I love the art I love creating and I have something to say. Now I’m not saying you’ll find immediate success but anyone who puts something new and believes in that will truly succeed and that’s anything in life. Otherwise me any you wouldn’t be alive. I've had conversations with other artists who feel the music/entertainment industry is dishonest to which I always counter that it's one of the most honest industries today. Where else can we experience so much rejection and still succeed by taking ownership of our own careers?
To put it in perspective, in Major League Baseball, a team will tell you when you can't play on their team anymore. They may send you to another team or cut you directly, and if enough teams DON'T want you playing for or against them, you're out the show completely! Sure, you can play overseas in different countries, but eventually father time will catch up with your abilities and you're out the game one way or another.
Conversely in music and entertainment, when we are rejected, it is an enormous reflection of how life generally operates. Life is full of rejection much like any other industry, which makes acceptance all the more valuable when it surfaces, and in this field there is absolutely little to no capacity for success. We all have the potential to yield as much of the accolades as we all fancy, and no one but ourselves can tell us otherwise!

For some time this channel has been becoming stranger to me in time because of me trying to show other people "oh hey look, this guy knows what he's saying and he's saying exactly what I'm saying so that means I'm on the right path" UNTIL they would stop me and say "Don't believe this guy, he's just trying to sell something". What you said about this channel being for the small percent of people who actually wanna go ALL IN is absolutely true and that's why now I know I'M SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONLY ONE WATCHING IT! Thank you for what you're doing and thank you for this video. Much Love🤘🏽❤️

I relish in the fact that these weak sucks don't do the work but expect all the glory. Everytime I hear someone say "one day I might start a tik tok" I just tell em, hey man we can't hang anymore your bringing me down, and I move on with my life. I don't have time for people that aren't serious, and if they try to give me advice I take a certain amount, but then i look them up online. If I can't find anything on them I let them know hey man, we can't hang anymore you gotta up your socials, come talk to me when you're dialed. Some people are starting to thank me, even though it may seem dickish I"m just not going to be around people who aren't working their AZZ off.

Hey Adam, I get it, Brother, I spent years trying to teach my fellow musicians how to market themselves. It was horrible. no one was willing to put in the work. No one was willing to learn the new skills. I felt like I was bashing my head against a wall. I still feel like I could help but you con only lead a horse to water.

And I was sceptical about your content, but it works, so thanks for sharing it for everybody to see

As soon as I heard the "I posted 6 times amd nothing happened" Ik he was gonna be on bullshit. You gotta put in the work. You can't make 6 videos on YT nd expect a million subs that quickly. If it was easy anyone would do it.🤷🏾‍♂️ My issue is finding out what and how to market myself correctly. I have to get back consistent on my videos on both my music channel & gaming channel 👌🏾

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Sure thing. I've answered the question before, but you can find a lot of records floating around that I produced in the past and my sync stuff has been in shows and commercials, but since going deaf in my left ear in 2016 I've shifted into helping other music creators as well as running my others businesses which are in the tech space and my non-profit organization. In terms of success stories I probably need to do a better job of sharing all of them, but I share a ton of them in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL1KqrofRenaAoiVeSmsHFKfRHS4sXi1nr.html and those are only about 20 out of hundreds who just prefer not to tell everyone that they got help with their marketing.
