You will find that Episcopalians welcome and embrace those who aren't "religious". For instance I belong to a parish that provides three large and important outreach programs to the community we live among. There are no requirements that you attend our church services or profess a certain faith. We just want to show mercy to our community. We proclaim ALL are welcome at our worship services. We mean that. Even if you are not religious, come be among people of hope that support you and want you to be in our lives.
Some seed fell on the path and was trampled, and the birds of the sky ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground, and when it grew, it withered for lack of moisture. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. Some seed fell on good soil, and when it grew, it produced fruit a hundredfold. Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.
This is why they talk over you and condemn instantly. Trump is not a Christian. Christianity is just one of the vehicles he uses to his own ends. He looks at it no differently than catching a cab train or plane or golf cart for that matter. He worships fortune and power with no moral guardrails.
Have to add this. He also has plants seeds then fertilizes and waters them daily if no one noticed. Every seed he plants he is on some form of media if not many tilling watering and shining as much light on it as possible. Then asking/ demanding we help him and spread those seeds and fruits of it. Unfortunately he plants thorns as were on the head of Jesus while promoting them as manna.
He may not be listening to anything he doesn’t like, and his followers may not be listening to anything they don’t like. But the rest of the world heard her words. I certainly won’t be forgetting them.
He heard and understood every single word, the problem is he hated what she was saying. He knows that he is neither merciful nor compassionate towards anyone that can't benefit him, and the mercy and compassion only extend so far as they are willing to do whatever he wants them to do 100% of the time.
We needed to see a person close to God speak exactly what for the most part we all learned in Sunday school. All of us either know our have family in one of the equations. I heard her. It gave me inspiration to stand my ground. God bless
If you want a fairly bald calculation of political self-interest, people who vote for Trump won't care in the slightest. This controversy helps him because he gets to draw a big, thick line between him and the liberals.
It absolutely did not fall on deaf ears. It scared him. That’s why he attacked. He’ll double down because that’s who he is. He was thinking, we can’t let this get through to my MAGA Faithful. Trump has to keep the MAGA Faithful deaf. They need their rage. He won’t comply. The rest of the world heard it.
One of the main reasons that he won is because he was able to con evangelicals into believing that Trumpism is a badge of spiritual faithfulness thanks to wealthy religious leaders who are very busy storing up their treasures on Earth. If he loses the evangelicals, his base is no longer "mainstream GOP" and falls apart.
Really good point! If it hadn't triggered him, he wouldn't have gone on the attack against her. But, then again, with an ego like his, what DOESN'T trigger him? I'm sure he was thinking, "...how dare this tiny little woman tell ME what to do! I'm the PRESIDENT!!!" He also likely felt the bishop was "challenging" him and that he would lose face with his cult if he didn't call her out on it. I wonder sometimes if there is a soul in there.
real churches have abandoned him, actually never supported him, are you confusing GOP talking head Christians for serious Christians? the two are not the same, there will be no reckoning from that group
As a man who isn't really religious, Bishop Budde's words rung true and those who are criticizing her have no compassion for others and do not deserve to claim they believe in the word of God and the teachings of Jesus. Although I am not part of any religion all I can say is her words will forever be immortalized as true compassion.
"Do it anyway" said Mother Theresa. Even if good words are scorned, they must be spoken because we all have voices that can speak to power. If we all speak up, the bullies won't be the only influence on our culture.
I think what is important is that the nation heard it. It was one of the very rare times when Trump had to remain silent while someone else spoke. Let Christian Conservatives argue against compassion. Let them denounce Jesus. Perhaps America will then wake up. We must pray. Prayers.
I'm from the UK . Often, I listen to videos whilst driving my car. I've just pulled over to respond to these powerful words. Too often, all we hear is the noise of white "Christian " nationalist reported over here. It is such a relief to hear that not all US Christians ascribe to their rhetoric. Thank you for restoring my hope in the ongoing fight against bigotry against those in need of hope.
@@mollyslosky269 most likely not, but he wasn't the only one who heard it. And maybe, just maybe, others were listening and eventually things will change.
oh they heard her and didnt appreciate a different point of view. I think JD was thinking, yeah right lady thats not what we are about. Yes Bishop Budde did a great service to humanity , thank you for your service Rev Ed and Bishop Budde.
But what did you hear? Gays and migrants aren't the only ones afraid. As an unhoused woman, I'm more afraid because we aren't included in the groups who need mercy. I'm so tired of being disincluded that I'm to the point that if you can't care about me equally, then don't expect me to care about others.
TY for saying this about JD's wife. I saw it on the first watch. He tried to speak to her and she didn't give him a glance! I cannot imagine being in a marriage where my spouse begins to go against my deepest beliefs and morals. That's where I think she is. Not giving her a pass...but I HAVE EMPATHY AND MERCY.
I'm a senior citizen who was very encouraged by the Rev. Budde's sermon. This is what Jesus was talking about. I hope I will be as brave if I'm called to stand up for others. Like the scribes and pharisees who rejected Jesus, Trump is only interested in keeping his power. It seems to me, he doesn't in the least understand compassion and pure love.
Donald has a darken soul and his close friends and family have demonstrated the totality of their own compassion. As Trump close circle cares not to attempt to correct Trumps poor comprehension of the realities of life and, Trump has placed his own life far from the Love and Graces of Jesus Christ. There still remains that eternal question; What happens to a soul that has repeatedly turned away from the invitation and forgiveness and Love of Jesus Christ??...What happens upon death to those unmoved towards Christ???
It wasn't just people who are LGBTQ that felt her message. I have been a disenfranchised "Christian" for over a decade since the "Westboro Bapistification" of the evangilical church, and her words literally made me cry. To hear the actual teachings of Jesus again was so beautiful. It made me want to reach out and spread "the word" again and try to revive the church i used to know when i was a child. It has been dead for a long time now... 😢
@jamesparson I don't remember where I heard it, but it resonated with me. I remember the outrage at the Westboro church when I was still in church. Now I look around, and most of the churches I see, or at least the very vocal ones, sound just like they did. I didn't leave the church, it left me. Or at least it has felt that way.
@@elijahadrian1151 You didn't leave the true Church. It spreads itself all through time and space, bound together by the Spirit of God. The fact that Rev. Budde's message touched you and struck a spark, means that the Spirit is still active in you, and therefore you are still a part of Christ's Body. We are all one. Let's get to work, bro!
I will always keep fighting for our rights for the lgbtq+. I’m a lesbian and have been this all my life. I’m married to a beautiful woman for 8 years. God bless Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde for standing up for the oppressed. ❤ Amen.
Trump heard her message only to the extent it gives trump another female to target, (except this female is a priest); showing the world what a true psychopath he is. Watch peoples actions not their words.
As a Wiccan, I used to wear a necklace that read WWTGD (What Would The Goddess Do?) as a way of thumbing my nose at people that used WWJD as a weapon for proselytizing rather than simple advice that they should take to their own hearts. The necklace has long since worn out (cheap beads), but I still live by the words of the Rede and the Threefold Law. I don’t speak them, but I prefer to live by quiet example.
W all Trumps experience and accomplishments, why do persons continue to reveal their bias ag Trump by underrating his ability and assume he is not listening in church, or knowlegeable? More likely he took that as insult; and to be reminded in front of the congregation of something obvious and complex that other officials don't have to answer for? Do intelligent folks think he is not aware of the huge problem of dealing w 22 mil, separating the sheep from the goats, the more lawful of the illegals, from the dangerous to indiv and society, before that of another 7/ 11 or worse? Any prayers in church for the nation and Trump to handle enormous problem according to the will of the Almighty? Forget Trump; are these highly ed officials unaware that the outside tribes, pouring over the border into Rome eventually took ov the military and govt in the 5th C? For the clergy, isn't this a prediction in the Good Book, where strangers will take over and the high shall be brought down, and the low shall be elevated? There is hope, since Rome didn't fall in a day, and conscientious Roman Ceasars did rescue the nation a few times, and also the 2nd coming, after a whole lot of shaking going on?
I am in Watertown, NY, . The Pastor at First Presbyterian gave a beautiful Sermon today in support of the Bishop. Her message may have fallen on deaf ears. But many people still heard her message and were given some HOPE.
With all of the Christian nationalism out here in America's Midwest it was so refreshing to hear the words of a real Christian! If she were preaching in a church around me, I would start going to church again!
All Episcopal churches (Bishop Budde's church) are pretty much aligned with her views. Still be careful in choosing a church, but Episcopalians and Unitarians are generally not MAGA. Check for rainbow flags on the church sign, the building, or the door. Then most likely it's a safe church.
They heard it. They were bothered by her words. They just don't agree. So they attack her. But I believe she is protected by Jesus Christ. No harm will come to her. Her Faith in Jesus is strong. We all heard her words. She said what we all want to say to these naysayers. Bless you Bishop Budde. Bless you Rev Ed. 💕
Really? Normally, I would just let this comment pass, but in this case, I just can't. I can't understand how people can still beieve in this sort of thing - this interventionist god. Check your history. In the 1970s, Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador was a very outspoken supporter of the poor and downtrodden in El Salvador. He was assinated *during a church service* on March 24, 1980, by a right-wing thug - the 1980's version of a Proud Boy. Was the Archbishop less worthy of holy intervention than Bishop Budde? I don't think so. The awful truth of the matter is, *people* will do evil deeds if they hate someone enough, and only other *people* (in this case, American society as a whole) will be the only means of preventing it from happening.
Bishop Budde’s message did not fall on deaf ears. They fell on MY EARS! And I am proud to take on that message and carry it forward to the best of my ability. Love you, Reverend Trevor. ❤
No, Trump heard, he just didn't listen. Instead, he took the position of, "She dared to oppose and chide the god-king?! SMITE HER!!!", an odd idea, the impotent wanting to smite anything or anyone. I met Trump around y2k, tri-state Chamber of Commerce to-do, most of the heavy hitters in the PenJerDel region were there and I and my wife had been invited, Trump was invited as guest of honor. He was the boor of the party, kept going on about his infinitely great successes in bankrupting six casinos, to enough business owner eyerolls that I feared that the planet would fall off of its axis. Everything discussed had to be about him and his greatness. His reputation for stiffing investors and contractors also had preceded him, courtesy largely of our New Jersey members. Such was his wondrous performance that the following year experienced a 95% attrition and the event was cancelled for the first time in the Chambers history and they all spent the following year apologizing all year long to the membership to reacquire attendance. My wife was rather a lot like Will Rogers, "Never met a man I didn't like" - until that day, instant loathing to the day she died, some nearly three years ago. I'd also developed an instant dislike for him and as a hint, I've literally had to dine with terrorists that I liked more than him, at least they could be negotiated with, sense talked into most. Him, that isn't unreality TV residue, he was like that long before unreality TV was contrived. What you see is a small taste of what you get, which is far worse when he speaks unguardedly.
I was one of those people who thought that Bishop Buddie's words fell on deaf ears, but you just reminded me of something that I've heard a number of times in the atheist community ... The point of debating isn't to change the mind of the person you're debating, it's to plant a seed in the minds of those listening to the debate. If what she said knocked over one domino in the minds of one percent of the countless MAGA folks who have seen that clip, then it was all worth it. In addition to letting those of us who are marginalized know that we have an ally in a high place.
My pastor commented that a friend of his who had left the church was considering goin back because of her words. Perhaps God is using this bad man for good things.
It's worth it because she knows she tried. I organized a monthly letter-writing campaign at my Quaker meeting not because I actually think it will make much difference, but because we will know that we tried.
“He who has ears, let him hear” put another way appropriate to this instance: he who has a heart, let him feel! Therefore, the question is to what is a narcissist's heart aligned, if not their own self-interest! Nothing!
The bishop was wearing the armor of God, the one true God that she believes in hoping it would extend to others so they could remember the true words of our Lord to be merciful, to be understanding to be loving. There was nothing in her sermon that said otherwise, she was speaking from her heart, and she was being given the armor of God in his house
Amen! So true! I have repeated her plea to a MAGA family member. Although that member didn't seem moved, I am praying over them! God can change hearts!!!!! 💙🙏💙🙏💙
It caused a run on her book and you can’t find it anywhere. We have to wait for back orders. So her words will be ringing for a long time now, and millions more will hear. ❤😊
What Bishop Budde said reminded me of the refrain of a song when I was in college in the early 1970s that was popular among the campus church groups. "And they'll know we are Christian by our love".
I am trans and have been feeling very abandoned these last weeks. This and the sermon it's discussing have helped. Please, keep telling people that you care; we need to hear it.
Of course, we care deeply about all our brothers and sister, whoever you are. Jesus did not discriminate people preferring one more than another, he said we are all equal. God made us all equal, no person can be holier than another on this Earth, no one can above you in standing or below you for being poor. Who you love is your choice, if you are happy in Jesus and your relationship then I am really happy for you. Remember. With God, all things are possible, remember Jesus loves you no matter who you are. Give all your fear to Jesus to deal with, stay true to Him and cover yourself with his blood. Fill yourself so full of the holy spirit every morning before you do anything else. Jesus pointed out what God considered a sin, what he does when we truly repent, He gave us the power to rid yourself of all curses, family curses, everything put against recently and in the past. You rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus Christ. His name alone is enough to make the enemy flee. When evil knows He is walking close by you always it will flee in fear. You are so loved by Gods Children, never ever forget that. Stay true, stay sincere, give your help when needed, ask Jesus for more discernment when choosing who you let influence you so you can always have Jesus first and foremost. Don't forget fellowship, that too is important. If you are made to feel fear or hatred in the church no problem, he said where more than 2 people meet regularly to read His Message, To sing his praises loud and clear, pray for whatever you need openly in that place because it is your church, your preferred place of worship, friendship and Holy Love filling all your souls. He also said its really important to be born again, denounce your old life for brand new one that you give to Jesus, you can be baptised anywhere with water and by friends who are worshipping God and can run you through His Message with relevance to your baptism. I was baptised in the lake in my local Nature area, by my daughter and son in law with every Christian that lived on our estateband attended Ivy Church and was part of the Eden Team that chose to move into our neighbourhood to bring us closer to Jesus. We will have our church in my home or one of my friends home, we will make and share food and invite people who are struggling to eat and pay bills or going without to feed their children, the bereaved, heartbroken or just lonely and not getting out enough. It's changed the whole aura of our beautiful, multi cultured, all ages welcome, it doesn't matter who you love, how you worship God or even if you believe. Don't be afraid, Jesus has got you and a whole army of angels to surround you and keep you feeling safe. He will always sort out the things you have no control over, you must trust Him and build your place with love and fellowship to share the Great Message to people scared, worried etc. You have nothing to fear. All things are for a reason and God will not give you anything you can't get over. God Bless. Love you dearly Amen
Obviously on some level both he and the others there DID hear it otherwise they would not be so angry, demanding apologies and saying vile things...and issuing death threats against the Bishop. It bothers them on some deep level. She "owned" them. No matter. The rest of the world heard it. We are inspired by her courage, dignity and moral clarity, uplifting us and gives us hope.
Ego does get in the way of so many. Wake up America. who do you serve God or mammon (wealth, ego)? You can't serve 2 masters. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? (Matt 16:26; Mark 8:36; Luke 9:25)
Yes!!! Rev Ed, you have, once again, nailed it. I have been pushing back against the “ye didn’t hear” folks since this bid was released. Speaking up beside the marginalized. Speaking words of love and empathy is NEVER a waste of words. Thank you, sir.
I posted an image of them on TikTok and the way some people dismissed her as a bishop. Even using bible scripture to go against her being a woman bishop. It's so, so SAD! I really don't want to deal with the " things to get bad, before they are good" ordeal. We have to do better, before it's too late!
Bishop Budde convinced me to reconsider my relationship with the church and with Christ as an atheist. I'm not re-converted, so to speak, but the door that was once locked and barricaded is now open.
I'm glad the bishop's sermon touched you. Her message and her delivery were [chef's kiss] inspired. I wish you fair winds and following seas on your journey. Please remember that Rev. Ed here is another good one.
I read: 45% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year. How tragic! It's imperative that we support LGBTQ youth, and make them feel welcome, and included, and loved exactly how they are. Please!!
Her words highlight the teachings of Christ, the love of Christ, and what the focus of the Church should be. For far too many that follow the teachings of a church, those teachings, love and focus are simply not present. How many faithful heard a reminder of what their faith calls for, or heard it for the first time. Her plea may have been directed towards a man, but she was speaking to the world. Bless her and protect her.
As you've said before, you never know when the message will get through. And as you said today, that message grew legs. It was delivered at a time, and a place, where it could have great impact.
Bishop Budde delivered the most kind, heartfelt, and humble message that I've heard in a very long time! I was so moved and applauded her bravery! I'm sure many Trump supporters were listening to the service thinking they would hear him being praised. Surprise surprise!!
Bishop Budde said what the Holy Spirit told her to deliver to the people, whether they actually heard the plea for mercy or not. WE still need to hear and act on her "directive" to show mercy towards those being threatened.
My best friend just told me I need to obey Trump. I obey no man. I no longer have friends. Family is all I have now and I’m fine with that. Praise the Lord.

Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. Some seed fell on good soil, and when it grew, it produced fruit a hundredfold.
Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.
🎯
I had the same thought, the same remembrance, 'Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.'
@@drmathochist06 Amen! I was thinking of that same passage of scripture.
God bless
And, he doesn't see how he benefits.
If you want a fairly bald calculation of political self-interest, people who vote for Trump won't care in the slightest. This controversy helps him because he gets to draw a big, thick line between him and the liberals.
Trump is transactional. Period. He will never understand selflessness.
:) I feel that you're giving the whole concept of "understanding" a bad name...
If the Church abandons him, he no longer has a hold on the GOP.
Really good point! If it hadn't triggered him, he wouldn't have gone on the attack against her.
But, then again, with an ego like his, what DOESN'T trigger him? I'm sure he was thinking, "...how dare this tiny little woman tell ME what to do! I'm the PRESIDENT!!!"
He also likely felt the bishop was "challenging" him and that he would lose face with his cult if he didn't call her out on it.
I wonder sometimes if there is a soul in there.
real churches have abandoned him, actually never supported him, are you confusing GOP talking head Christians for serious Christians? the two are not the same, there will be no reckoning from that group
@@loveblue2 Exactly!
I wish Mother Theresa were here at this time. We could use her now.
@@wisdanielShe’d likely support Trump unfortunately

@@pauls6897 Maga paints everyone with one broad stroke. Thats what you are doing here. You know nothing about Mother Theresa.
I saw that, as well. Mrs. Vance was listening intensely. She even stole glances at her husband. I could hear her thought, 'Are you listening?'
I thought that too!! 😊
Well Miss Tiffany turned up her nose as if a bad odor waved her way . Then a slight giggle at the end.
But will it change the administration's policy?
@@mollyslosky269, of course not. But, it was said to his face, and will get under his skin.
@@mollyslosky269 most likely not, but he wasn't the only one who heard it. And maybe, just maybe, others were listening and eventually things will change.
Thing is, his followers don't want him to show mercy. They want him to be merciless and ruthless.
oh they heard her and didnt appreciate a different point of view.
Exactly.
He hates goodness, light, love, and God because hes an agent of the devil.
Donald has a darken soul and his close friends and family have demonstrated the totality of their own compassion.
As Trump close circle cares not to attempt to correct Trumps poor comprehension of the realities of life and, Trump has placed
his own life far from the Love and Graces of Jesus Christ.
There still remains that eternal question; What happens to a soul that has repeatedly turned away from the invitation and forgiveness and Love of Jesus Christ??...What happens upon death to those unmoved towards Christ???
He is a servant of mammon....extremely so. He loves money. End of story.....that's what you become.
"Westboro Bapistification" is an interesting term. I think it is accurate

I think Trump was paying attention or he would not have been so disturbed by it. It didn't penetrate his evil heart, but he heard it.
Trump heard her message only to the extent it gives trump another female to target, (except this female is a priest); showing the world what a true psychopath he is. Watch peoples actions not their words.
These are strange times when WWJD is a radical liberal statement.
Well, with the far right, they don't have the old model Jesus, they have the new and improved Hasbro Machine Gun Jesus.
These Christian Nationalists really never quote the words of Jesus. They are perfectly happy sticking with the Old Testament.
@@spvillano That image scares the daylights out of me. People who follow it are following an idol cast in their own image.
Mercy and compassion are what's important in any universe, before and after life
With all of the Christian nationalism out here in America's Midwest it was so refreshing to hear the words of a real Christian!
We heard it, the world heard it, the marginalized heard it, and that is the true church!
Gods on her side,
Trump has Satan on his.
I noticed Mrs Vance's sense of concern. She must be strong and say something to the husband she hopefully loves. She must.
I was wondering if Mrs Vance might be afraid of her husband?
@@margaretb wouldn’t you be if you were a woman with an independent thought and with immigrant parents and married to him?
I was watching DW a German news channel. A German artist brought up Budde's sermon up as part of a fight against tyranny.
Bishop Budde’s message did not fall on deaf ears. They fell on MY EARS! And I am proud to take on that message and carry it forward to the best of my ability. Love you, Reverend Trevor. ❤
Her words certainly DID NOT fall on deaf ears!
Your a Quaker? I come from the first Quakers in North America.
Thank you❤ not just actions but even in our thoughts we can change things.
Hi tanyatimberwolf, I know nothing of Quakers... are they as beautiful and accepting as CWW?
I can confirm her words were an encouragement to many people who needed to hear it.
“He who has ears, let him hear” put another way appropriate to this instance: he who has a heart, let him feel! Therefore, the question is to what is a narcissist's heart aligned, if not their own self-interest! Nothing!
At least a Christian, a bishop, and a woman spoke up. JD Vance's wife heard what Bishop Budde had to say.
They definitely didn't hear it but hopefully the country did..
The World did!!!
Agree 💯
Amen! So true! I have repeated her plea to a MAGA family member. Although that member didn't seem moved, I am praying over them! God can change hearts!!!!! 💙🙏💙🙏💙
They wouldn't be going after the Bishop and her message if they weren't afraid some of they're supporters may have heard it.
The LORDS TRUTH was delivered. God holds kings accountable after the truth is delivered.
Never a waste of time to plant the seed.
And that's how i took the message. Stand up. Stand for the minorities. Be mindfull with your words, be mindfull with what you do.
It caused a run on her book and you can’t find it anywhere. We have to wait for back orders. So her words will be ringing for a long time now, and millions more will hear. ❤😊
Those words empowered me

Another excellent message! Thanks, Rev.!
What Bishop Budde said reminded me of the refrain of a song when I was in college in the early 1970s that was popular among the campus church groups. "And they'll know we are Christian by our love".
We used to sing that in church in the 70s.
Yes. We sang it.too.
Song has been on my mind too
So true, thanks for reminder!
People do not like to see themselves in the mirror of her words.
It is always helpful knowing there is someone in your corner pulling for you.
One has to be willing to consider that others are equal to them in order to consider that the words of others have any value.
Ego does get in the way of so many. Wake up America. who do you serve God or mammon (wealth, ego)?
You can't serve 2 masters. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

Yes!!! Rev Ed, you have, once again, nailed it.
I have been pushing back against the “ye didn’t hear” folks since this bid was released.

Thank you, Reverend Ed. I needed to have my understanding of Jesus' message, the good news that God loves us (ALL) unconditionally, validated.

He heard her. That's why he is angry. Many seeds were sown in that sermon, and with each seed, so is hope sown.

That was rather profound. Yes.
I didn't watch the service, but I have heard about it, and in this sense I heard the message.
