I just wanted to clarify a few things in this video. Rolling Thunder did not open with the park and actually did not open until 5 years later. I didn't do the proper research on that so that's my bad. The other thing is that the mist and fire on Bizarro actually do still work as many of you have pointed out to me. A friend of mine who works at the park told me a while ago that the mist and fire no longer ran on the ride. I took his word for it and needless to say, he was wrong. I confronted him about it recently and let's just say he was shook. Thank you guys for correcting me on these things and trust me, I am never going to trust that friend for information on Great Adventure ever again.
Attraction Ideas, go check this out! This is coming to Six Flags La Ronde in Canada LOL!!! Its gonna be called Chaos th-cam.com/video/xlgJ5deIFJ0/w-d-xo.html
instead of always adding fast and speedy rides, i think that they should add more longer rides, which will be worth waiting in long lines that last hours.
@@erichuang8246 Usually if the ride is long enough they can add a checkpoint in the middle and allow a second train to go when the first has passed the checkpoint.
That depends on what day you go on,week days there's no one in lines or at the park really you just jumps on the coasters and stuff and move to the next
Not to crush your idea but I think it would draw to much power from the city remember Batman and robin the chiller it closed because it had major technical difficulties and the city wouldn’t let them run both because it would cause entire city power outages
Fact i mean i remember riding it 2 or3 years ago i fainted on t ride memories man i went back on june 26 2019 and was looking for the ride and it wasent there bummer
If you have the six flags app, you can press on the map of the whole theme park and you can see that there’s a really big red roller coaster next to Congo rapids and it doesn’t have a name. But it’s new since it was never there before. And that ride looks crazy fun. The drop on that ride is ridiculous. Can’t wait till it opens
I went on Bizarro a few days ago and both the fire and mist worked. also, I went on Green Lantern a few years ago and it is the most painful ride I've ever been on (I'm a girl so that really means it's bad)
@@madisonharvell the G-Forces put a very high amount of pressure on your legs and hurts the muscles. A few days ago when I went again, my friend went on it (without me of course) and she was too short to stand properly, so she was basically sitting and said it was not painful, while my other friend who is tall, said it was very painful.
Rolling Thunder did not open with the park. Rolling Thunder opened in 1979. The park opened in 1974. Also, Six Flags keeps rotating the same 5 rides to all of their parks for years. Great Adventure finally has all 5. All you can hope for is for next year to be different.
My notifications said you were taking to me. Were you talking to me? Because I was just inquiring on the rides that get swapped out, not saying that I want new rides or bust
I agree, but to me, the situation at great adventure is worse because of SFGAdv's popularity and success. I like dorney a lot, but great adventure is essentially the crown jewel of the six flags company, so it being ignored is sorta worse than dorney being ignored by cedar fair
I wish we were even in the talk for a coaster my home park is worlds of fun, in the next two years we’re getting a water park expansion and a restaurant. Hopefully we’ll get anything thrilling in 2021
That would be cool, but id honestly rather a multi launch coaster tbh. Only launch coaster rn is Ka, which lasts about 28 seconds and gets rougher by the day lol
Vybz 0 cedar fair gave great america the boost from lowly, boring place to a borderline flagship park, wouldn’t be surprised if they give worlds of fun something groundbreaking soon
dirtrider88 If you go here every single summer it will get boring. If there is nothing new to offer every single thing will be the same and it will eventually get boring. He is t spoiled at all.
I lived in Jackson my whole life, 3 miles behind my house was the six flags Safari. I grew up hanging out and even working at this park, the secrets you find out, and what goes on behind the curtain is insane. I was trained on El Toro and worked on The Joker, The Runway Mine Train, The Log Flume, déjà vu, fender benders, and swashbuckler. It makes you rethink of going on certain rides... but at the end of the day through all the fun memories and traumatizing working experience. I will forever continue loving this theme park, I can’t wait to see its future!!
One of the reasons I used to love great adventure was the variety it had. At what I would consider its peak in 06 we had just received what is widely regarded as the best wooden coaster on earth, not only this but we had a classic arrow megalooper which personally still stands as my favorite roller coaster of all time, an intense fun and unique launch coaster in batman and Robin and a classic woodie. Great adventure had the classic lineup and flats to match the modern coasters. Since then we've gained as you stated a few mediocre rides, but lost many classic flats and 3 classic coasters 2 of which in my opinion at least were really good. Now while many people might not complain great adventure feels like B&M fun land with 1 or 2 other coasters there's no variety anymore and the classic feel of great adventure has been lost what we need is to bring back the days of innovation and bring unique coasters back to the park. I think in particularly we could use another launcher
You have Medusa (an ordinary sit-down looping coaster which is basically GASM but better), Batman: The Ride which is an inverted coaster focused on positives and whip, Superman: Ultimate Flight which is a flying coaster, Nitro which is a floater-airtime-focused rollercoaster, El Toro which is focused on ejector airtime, and Kingda Ka which is focused on strong linear Gs. And Joker, an S&S Freespin, is focused on that out-of-control feeling. They're all different. But yeah, you could use a powerful launch coaster with an actual layout. Maybe a Mack Xtreme Spinner; those have great launches, would fill the role of spinning coaster, and have great layouts. It could compete with El Toro for best ride in the park, and it could compete with Nitro on capacity.
hotwing38, I went there yesterday and the park was empty, Im talking a 10 min wait on kingda ka and 15 for the first row kind of empty and they had the fire and mist going.
If Six Flags didn't face financial woes, the park would've been the next Cedar Point with a hotel, giga coaster, winged flyer, etc. There were plans proposed in 2006 for a hotel next to Kingda Ka and Green Lantern, but the proposal was shelved. Budget cuts soon followed.
Michael Mills It used to be the most attended. Then the company decided that Magic Mountain needed all of the roller coasters while Great Adventure got attractions that are better suited for smaller parks.
I'm glad someone called it! The Facebook groups seem to have resigned to GA not forking out the cost of a new coaster to bolster park attendance. I've always felt this park needed a more rounded out coaster collection for its park goers above 8 years of age. After joker, as you said, it has been flat ride after flat ride, and restaurant add ons.
although we haven’t gotten a new amazing coaster, we have not been neglected. 2014- Zumanjaro, tallest & fastest drop tower on earth. 2015- El diablo (ok this was trash) 2016- Joker, second installment of the 4D freespin which offers a very fun ride. 2017- Battle for Metropolis, adds ANOTHER dark ride and offers a great family experience. 2018- Cyborg, first of its kind NEW flat ride, with an amazing lighting package. 2019- Wonder Woman, world’s tallest pendulum ride, and if you’ve ever been on one of these, they are SCARY and this is an awesome addition. 2020- a coaster most likely. this is not neglect. they have heavily increased their collection of flat rides. not to mention in the early 2010’s we also got skyscreamer and the safari
@@angelinaa2385 Yes. It is the same height as the new thrill ride in fiesta texas, the joker. So same height as joker but taller than harley quinn spinsanity
The light package at night is the best part of Cyborg... which is not a good thing to say about a thrill ride. As a Diamond Elite member of SFGA, their additions the last few years have been underwhelming.
Chase MAN the justice league ride was my FAVORITE . I went on it the first time and apparently the cart was supposed to stop and it did but by the fire, and the cart ahead was stuck so all of the carts and all of our eyebrows got burnt off and I almost fell out trying to look back . But that part of me falling out was really my fault lmao
That’s what really pissed me off. Some of my friends and I make fun of Great Adventure for demolishing Rolling Thunder in the form of memes. Edit: I’m actually going to Great Adventure in less than a week, and I’m actually going to place a protest sign near where El Diablo was!
I live 25 minutes from SFGA in NJ! I used to go as a little kid for Girl Scouts and camps, and I always remember it being PACKED. My family stopped going because admission got expensive and my sisters hate roller coasters so we never could agree on rides, so I hadn't been for a good 8-10 years before I worked there last summer. It was rather empty almost every day, and there were never any lines for rides as far as I could see. I remember hearing radio ads for new rides each year and none seemed appealing to me, so maybe others have felt the same. Nitro is my favorite ride in the park, Bizarro a close second, and El Toro, Superman, and Skull Mountain are also great. This park has been getting rather upsetting, also was awful to work for, so sad because I used to love going there (and HH too before it got gross, and the Safari before it died)
From what I understand from your video, it seems like the problem is the fact that Great Adventure is one of Six Flag’s most popular park. That they feel like they don’t have gamble and try to hit a home run with a major ride addition to the park and would rather try for a stand up double instead. Most parks make major ride additions as a way to give attendance a shot in the arm. So sometimes having good attendance and popularity can be both a blessing and a curse because it can make park owners feel like they don’t have to take a real risk with new attractions.
As I commented above the last brand new large expensive coaster SF built was 2012s XFlight. As Ducey noted SFMM hasn't even had large coasters. Full Throttle, fun too short. TC RMC conversion do we count these? And WestC Racers has no height and will run LOW. My point is none of these are headliners that will attract people from all over the world.
Todd Olsen Trust me when I tell you, coming from a guy that is from the West Coast, and has frequent SFMM, those attractions you've just mentioned ARE powerful enough to attract worldwide attention(and living in the midst of the entertainment capital of the world), I've seen it firsthand. And even though WCR is yet to open, a lot of tourists from around the world are anticipating for it to finally open.
@@biznichin13 It's because you guys keep going. If you switched to Hersheypark, maybe they'd finally feel the need to add a major new coaster (ideally a Mack Xtreme Spinner).
If you don’t know already, at ACE ROTB diez they teased that in 2020 the park is getting something very, very big. Almost certain this is gonna be a new ground up coaster, as all of my references in the park are saying the exact same thing: that Six Flags HQ now has their sights on Great Adventure again
SFGA is my home park and I just started working there this year. The current, low level, rumor is that we will get the T-REX that RMC admits to selling. Of course, Wonder Woman construction is running behind. The ride is installed, but the area is still dug up without landscaping, so that could throw a wrench in the works.
When I did work there, there were four possible rumors: A Premier Rides Multi launch An S&S multilaunch A B&M Dive Machine A Mack multilaunch Honestly, the one that makes the most sense is a Premier Rides multilaunch with an almost 200 ft vertical loop. I would be surprised tho if they get a Mack, as they are expensive af
Well, I know RMC will publicly admit to selling a T-REX and when everyone assumed it was going to Cedar Point, Cedar Fair put out some press releases that seemed designed to tamp down on that speculation. There is also the fact that American Dream is opening and, since its all indoors, despite the attractions being low level, they have the upper hand in not having to shut down their major attractions due to weather. We need something that will draw guests from NY and north NJ with the hope that the weather will be clear here, and they can enjoy the ride of their dreams. As an aside, they really should add back a train. It's such an iconic attraction, a park without one feels like its missing something. And if they are really thinking ahead and want to expand, it could be planned so it would double as transport from one side of the park to the other.
The entire park needs quite a bit of treatment from HQ. They are finally giving superman a newer paint job...but it looks like a shoddy job. Entire park needs a new coat of paint and all the coaster vehicles need maintenance. For those who don't know...the track isn't what gives riders a rough experience...its the vehicles themselves. As they age the components stop operating as they are supposed to. Prime example is kingda ka...its like falling apart.
Although i never have been to Great Adventure (im European so probably wont go there for a long time) i was kinda sad when i saw that Rolling Thunder was gone, as i had good memories from it from RCT2. They couldve RMCed it or, heck, even gave it a GCI refurbishment like Ghostrider got.
Came here to post this comment about RMC. It's really frustrating that 2 years after Rolling Thunder was demolished Twisted Colossus opened in Magic Mountain. I really want know what magic RMC could have made with Rolling Thunder!
I think you may have glossed over what is actually a massive negative in 2012 and that was the CLOSING of the drive through aspect of the safari. Sure the park holders got to have a guided tour as part of their ticket, but in doing so, removed the selling point of it being a stand alone attraction, it was a zoo you could drive through at your own pace. You weren't just drifting through the safari on a bus with a bunch of other families, you could pull over in the giraffe area and have them look into your car. You could have baboons jumping all over (and frankly destroying) your car, but it was a fun experience. This was especially bad since there are no real drive through safaris in the north east at all. It was also one of the few (if not only) in the United States to actually have elephants in general. What made Great Adventure a unique park was the safari. Other than that it is a generic Six Flags.
Not to be nit picky, but I am a GAdv nerd and I have to say: Rolling Thunder did not open with the park. It opened in 1979, five years after the park opened in 1974. Thank you for mentioning it though, unfortunately you did not mention Batman and Robin: The Chiller, but I forgive you. Also, all of these problems and bad additions that you mentioned followed Six Flags' bankruptcy, so I understand why they didn't invest in an already world class park. Great video! Lets hope for that new custom coaster in 2020!
I wish Cedar Fair was in charge of Great Adventure. They could bring out the FULL potential of that park and bring it up to Cedar Point standards with annual additions of mind-blowing attractions. The place would be a gold mine. And They SERIOUSLY need to address the issue of the security entrance from the parking lot. Arriving there early you are always met with a massive confusing crowd with no rhyme nor reason to how to get in until you get right up to the security entrance area queues. It's deplorable and wastes a lot of the time you have to enjoy the park.
or.....adding another park to the Cedar Fair chain would just mean the other parks would get to wait ANOTHER year between the additions of Bench: The Ride and WinterFest.
As much as I want a new, big roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure (and we deserve it-- we're probably still the most profitable Six Flags park), many of the roller coasters we currently have are still phenomenal and world-class. Flat rides may not be additions we're looking forward to, but some of them were additions we needed. Prior to their addition, the park didn't have much to offer guests that wanted something that looked more extreme than Runaway Mine Train, but were still too short for Nitro or Bizarro. We also had (and still have) quite a bit of empty space that they could fill in. It's amazingly dumb that the flats are marketed as thrill rides on the same caliber as roller coasters though. We do also have other things that management needs to look at. Hurricane Harbor NJ is a nightmare (being forced to park on the grass is the least of its problems), we could use one or two more water rides in the theme park, and our entertainment offerings outside of Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park are… rather lackluster, to say the least.
I go to Great Adventures once a week and you are soooo right. And I'm upset that the wonder woman ride isn't even a new ride, just a copy. PISSED!!!! Great vid my brother.
Good vid. Glad I stumbled on it. GA is my first home park and I spent what seems like my entire childhood there. I can remember when I thought the Runaway Mine Train was too terrifying to go on as a toddler. lol I have moved away from the area and had Universal Orlando as my home park for 12 years and now have Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion close by. I've been watching from afar for years to see how the park closest to my heart has been taken care of. I was blown away by El Toro when I went up there in 2008 and thought it the best ride I've ever been on. But then I was torn in two when they took Rolling Thunder down. I just can't believe they did that and feel strongly they could have RMC'd it or just gave it a loving refurb to keep the soul of the park intact. I grew up on that coaster and have been on it over a hundred times. I still can't believe it's gone. Anyway I agree that this park is over due for a serious addition. That Super Loop was an insult. Coaster????? Come on! Here's the skinny.... I've heard there is talk of an RMC ground up T REX coming to Great Adventure. I could not think of a more appropriate park for that to happen and think it would revitalize the passion so many have for GA, myself included. @Attraction Ideas Any inside scoop on the T Rex idea for this park?? Thanks for the vid.
Young Cod God either u got a good ride on it or you haven’t even rode it and just assuming but this ride sucks me and my sisters rode it and my legs and stuff hurt so bad after this ride and to make it even worse my sisters elbow was on top of mine and it was getting pushed down on mine and that hurt like hell me and my sister agreed to never ride it again and it shows
Bro quit complaining. I live in England and my local park hasn’t got a new coaster or let alone a new ride since 2005, and even then it was only a Junior Boomerang. We only have one major coaster, which is a stand-up coaster that lasts 30 seconds. So next time you take your quality Hyper coaster, your awesome Wooden coaster, your world-beating launch coaster or your amazing floorless coaster for granted, think of us.
Does Batman the ride still work? Everytime I go its not running and it was one of my faves. I also liked back in the day when they had the batman stunt show that was cool. The whole Batman section is lacking...
Thank you for helping me realise how wack great adventures has really gotten over the years. No wonder I've been dying to visit other amusement parks for the past 7 years!
The difference is, Great Adventure is in a highly populated area and St Louis isn't. A random park in Illinois (Six Flags Great America) should not be better than one of the two largest parks near NYC (Six Flags Great Adventure (the other one is Hersheypark which is actually great)).
This is the first time I've seen footage of Great Adventure, and the scenery/vegetation seems really lacking to me. Looks like a concrete block from up above.
I'm from the Philly area roughly 50 minutes away and I always felt the theming and atmosphere was weak. The layout is fairly accessible on foot and handles big crowds, at least. Hersheypark and Morey's Piers have it beat scenery wise easily.
I've been going to this park since the early 90's and I really loved when they made the Safari part of the main park. I go on it every time I'm there now. Oh and that exact Pendulum ride came out at Six Flags New England like 2 years ago.
I understand your frustration man. But no matter what, you got to remember, you guys aren't Magic Mountain. You guys aren't open every day, etc. So when it comes down to it, you guys are fighting all the other parts, like the Over Texas, Over Georgia, and Great America. I'm not saying it's 100% Fair, but you guys just are not the big dog.
thank you, at least some one besides me noticed I've had season passes to six flags since I was 2 in 2004 and I cant remember the last time I was exited for a new ride there I hope the six flags front office sees this bc I need a new coaster plz six flags
Also kingda ka and zumanjaro were supposed to run at the same time but I guess New Jersey safety regulations prevented that but it was announced that those two ride were supposed to run together.
Yeah they could use a new coaster, but justice league is still a damn good dark ride for a six flags park. In a time where IP’s bring in visitors (like DC) it’s makes sense for them to make attractions with those DC brands on them. By no means does it justify the lack of a coaster, but I see where they would want to take the route they did
It feels like Six Flags has been half-assing their additions to parks for years now, excluding the RMC conversions, and maybe Golden Lasso Coaster as well. Looking at the time-frame of the drought for Great Adventure, if you look at all their parks across that timeframe is there anything you can point to which isn't an RMC conversion or the 1 single rail they built last year which is actually a proper world class coaster? They've kept building short and smaller or medium size coasters which really aren't too noteworthy (and technically the single rail does fit into this category, although it is actually noteworthy) aside from maybe a couple miscellaneous records here and there. Although I would argue you guys got screwed on not getting RMC Rolling Thunder. That would've been a good addition in 2013 or 2014. Instead you guys lost a coaster for a queue line. This is from someone whose home park is SFGAm, where we keep getting coasters but they keep winding up too short or too mediocre. You know, you guys should be glad that you have 3 world class coasters in El Toro, Kingda Ka, and Nitro, plus a 7 inversion B&M. 3 of those are strong coasters with content. We don't get that here. Come to think of it now, is there any SIx Flags park (outside of Texas) where people have been happy with the additions over the past decade or so?
I actually think MaxxForce will be justified for being short. Launch coasters are short and intense in nature. And air launches scare the crap out of everyone. But other than that, the coasters at Great America are decent. But I would say we have the best well rounded park in the chain. We have some of everything now(except for a giant traditional coaster that stands out). I think Raging Bull is very underwhelming though. I would go as far to say that it is one of the worst B&Ms. Every other B&M I have ridden so far is better than it. It was sad when I went to Busch Gardens and Seaworld, and I enjoyed their B&Ms more than Raging Bull. But the wooden coasters are decent. American Eagle needs the RMC treatment very soon(It has seen better days). Viper is a great woodie. Goliath is awesome.... but short.
@@wutduh8697 I'd say Great America has a great supporting lineup. Their list of coasters works well for giving depth to a park which would otherwise rely on 1 or 2 great coasters. The problem is Great America doesn't have these 1 or 2 great coasters, and honestly I doubt Maxx Force will be one due to the smaller nature of it's gimmick (compared to, say, TTD or Kingda Ka) and short layout. It needs that quality coaster with good content, as Raging Bull didn't age too well with all the other B&M hypers being built, and maybe only Viper and American Eagle have that sort of content. Honestly, Viper is probably the most well-rounded coaster at the park in terms of quality and content. Which is saying something. That all being said, if they do RMC American Eagle they have a good chance of getting that strong coaster they need. Something like a dueling Twisted Timbers or Hakugei would be absolutely incredible, or they could go with the SV/Gwazi approach and make a truly massive monster of a coaster. They have the potential to either get one of the most unique RMCs or one of the best RMCs out of American Eagle, and if they do that then they have that coaster they need. But it's Six Flags, so I kind of feel like they'd half-ass it and we'd get a decent RMC out of it. Maybe a smaller Hakugei or something. But even then that could help the park.
@@noname117spore I genuinely think MaxxForce will make up for how short it is. Kingda Ka is under 30 seconds. Top Thrill Dragster is under 30 seconds(possibly even under 20). Storm Runner is short but very well received. I believe MaxxForce fits in well with this category. But they better not muck up American Eagle. They have a huge opportunity to kill the game. They better not waste it.
@@wutduh8697 To be fair, how good would Cedar point and Six Flags Great Adventure be if you removed everything better than TTD and Kingda Ka? And I fully expect Maxx Force to not hold itself up as well as those 2 coasters. Maybe more on the same level as Storm Runner. I mean, it'll be an intense launch followed by an element, a short element, and an element where the last fourth of it is spent on the brakes (which looks like even less content than Storm Runner which has 4 elements). It'll be in the category for sure, but I'd argue it's a "middle of the road" coaster for that category (maybe above average tbf). And that category is usually used to give the park something impressive alongside an already strong coaster or two.
i wasn't old enough to ride the scream machine but damn green lantern always has my head knocking back and forth between the restraints, i can't imagine scream machine being much worse
I live up the road from Six Flags New England. They literally repainted the Superman and called it Bizarro the exact same year. The best part was a few years ago when they painted it back to its original colors and name again.
Several of Six Flags' parks are horribly neglected. The only ones that consistenly get good additions are Magic Mountain, Great America, and then some random other ones will get lucky every once in a while. But parks like Great Adventure, St. Louis, America, etc. haven't gotten anything exciting in many years. It's pretty sad honestly.
Six flags over Georgia hasn’t gotten a new roller coaster since Goliath was open. They did open battle for metropolis and rethemed the cyclone, but the park hasn’t had any new coasters in so long it’s sad
Honestly, it has almost no competition nearby. We live 3 hours away and still have season passes, it can draw from a lot of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana. Midwesterners don't mind a drive
What about Magic Mountain? They have 19 roller coasters and keep getting catered by Six flags with Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus, and West Coaster Racers. They probably just added the kiddie coasters just to have more than any other park too!
howdy i ran rolling thunder from 94 to 98 and it was just as much fun to work at as it was to ride. just a little side note though, it didnt open with the park. minetrain did but not rt. great adventure opened in 74 and rt came to the park in 79. just a heads up lol👍👍👍
First of all, I just wanted to say this is a great video! To be fair, Great Adventure really did need those flat rides. The park's thrill ride lineup was embarrassing prior to 2013 with Twister as the only thrill ride. Coasters are the only area where Great Adventure has been getting seriously neglected. Also, minor correction. Rolling Thunder did not open with the park, it opened in 1979.
hey, former ride ops (2010) and photographer (2011-2014), just wanted give you guys some insight on the occupational level as to why theyre doing what theyre doing: so from 2011 onward, theyve been hammering down a lot on getting season passes, food passes, etc. theyre supposed to give you extra benefits, but it's really to get you to come back (I guess if you visit more often, you're more likely to buy expensive stuff?). When I worked rolling thunder, I overheard it cost $2 million/mo just for basic upkeep (paying employees, matinence, fixes, etc.) eventually theyd make things for pass holders only such as exclusive events, flash passes, shorter different lines for frightfest, etc. the GOOD coasters like you mentioned cost way more than flat rides & theyre trying to look for a return on investment any way they can. personally I enjoyed working there as a photographer, but quit due to different management coming in. I'm not sure what theyre doing now, but I signed up for thier surveys they bring out every so often. TL;DR they're trying to cut costs while bringing in more customers bc thrill rides arent cheap anymore?
I think I found Great Adventure's coasters. They've been dropped at SF Great America (they've gotten a coaster seemingly every year the past few years, though I don't count Hangover) and at Discovery Kingdom who has gotten 3 new coasters in the last 4 years... 4 new ones if you count the repaint of V2...
No complaining about no new original ride that the largest park in world needs shouldn’t take 14 years (2020 will be the year probably and that’s 14 years after 2006)
rashamon3 It’s been 14 years since the last major investment. And in that time they’ve actually removed 2 coasters to replace them with even worse attractions. And yet MM gets a huge new coaster every damn year.
@@acceleratedcreative The Dark Knight Coaster, Bizarro conversion, Green Lantern, SkyScreamer, Deja Vu, Air Jumbo, Fender Benders, Zumanjaro, El Diablo, The Joker, and Justice League. That's PLENTY of new original attractions for the park, including MULTIPLE new roller coasters. irdgi :/
TheEpic22 Magic Mountain gets a coaster almost every damn year because it's part of a major market that attracts people from all over the world, HOLLYWOOD, THE ENTERTAINMENT MECCA OF THE WORLD, besides having to compete with five other noteworthy theme parks in the Southern California market, *WHICH INCLUDES, OF ALL OTHER THEME PARKS, DISNEYLAND, WHICH IS SOON TO DRAW IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD WITH THE OPENING OF STAR WARS LAND!!!* SO YEAH, MAGIC MOUNTAIN PLAYS A PART, A *MAAAAJOR* PART ON ATTRACTING, NOT ONLY TOURIST FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHEN IT COMES TO THRILLS, BUT ALSO FROM AN ALREADY LARGE MARKET OF L.A.(which also includes all of the surrounding areas of Orange County, The I.E., Vegas, Arizona, Northern Cali, and by extension, the Great Northwest), as a counterpart for thrills, to those other parks. IN simpler terms: *THE HIGER THE REVENUE, THE HIGHER THE CHANCES OF THE PARK RECIEVING A MAJOR INVESTMENT!!*
rashamon3 Wild mouse, repaint, relocation, a bunch of cheap clones that went to every park, and a couple cheap flat rides? And btw, el Diablo is gone. As is Great American scream machine. This is the second biggest park in the chain and it’s been overlooked for years.
hi as a ex rides operator for sfga i can give you so facts about my old home park first thing is the hyper loop is not staying it will get replaced its only a "place holder" alot of the rides got a repaint in 2018-2019 rolling thunder was the last old wood dueling coaster on the east coast the oldest rides in the park that are still up is the mine train, skull mountain, most of loony toon seaport, the big wheel,sky-way,daredevil drop, marry go round ,saw mill log flume, and Congo rapids i believe is still running o all so batman the ride is hunted lol
as soon as you got to great american scream machine and said "if you're replacing it, it better be something good" i literally went 😬 my family (who are big great adventure fans and go all the time) has a mantra when it comes to the park, which is "if green lantern is busy you know it's bad" because of how it's almost always abandoned otherwise because it's so universally hated lol
I completely agree with you but I really like the Dark Knight Coaster and Battle for Metropolis because I love rides that have at least a good level of theming.
Because of the generous attention Great Adventure received from 97 to 06 It was time for them to have a decade off. They needed to improve Great America as its their #3 park that needed attention.
@@darkcoco827 I'm not sure what they could have done with it, and don't mention that pathetic excuse of an RMC, it feels like Six Flags and RMC didn't even fucking try with that ride just looking at the stats of it, yet people praise it despite wasting what could have been an even better RMC conversion if actual effort was put into it. Twisted Cyclone doesn't deserve to exist, they were better of leaving Georgia Cyclone alone than fucking the conversion up that badly. Also there might have been other factors involved in the decision to not RMC Rolling Thunder, my guess is that it might have caused some structural issues for El Toro as they left the sections of track that El Toro goes over, if they were to RMC Rolling Thunder they'd have to deal with that section and the possibe can of worms it would open for both Rolling Thunder and El Toro.
You might as well get used to it at this point. Ever since they exited bankruptcy, all they have been installing is cheap stock rides with one or two original rides at their parks every year.
Overall I agree that especially in the time period from 2010-2020, Six Flags did not invest as much as they should have on new rides especially roller coasters in the park, however I'm not sure I agree with you on it being a shame of removing some of the older coasters like American Scream Machine and Rolling Thunder. I suppose it would have been cool to still kept a thrill coaster from the 70's like Super Duper Looper at Hershey Park. I actually do like Green Lantern.
Thank you guys for correcting me on these things and trust me, I am never going to trust that friend for information on Great Adventure ever again.

instead of always adding fast and speedy rides, i think that they should add more longer rides, which will be worth waiting in long lines that last hours.
True
Won't longer rides increases the waiting like even longer?
@@erichuang8246 Usually if the ride is long enough they can add a checkpoint in the middle and allow a second train to go when the first has passed the checkpoint.

That depends on what day you go on,week days there's no one in lines or at the park really you just jumps on the coasters and stuff and move to the next
I live 10 minutes away from this park, and i do believe it needs a good coaster added. Maybe a launch coaster that doesnt last 20 seconds
My relatives live 11 mins away, (im from britain woop), and also a launch coaster is what the park needs, something which changes it up a bit.
Not to crush your idea but I think it would draw to much power from the city remember Batman and robin the chiller it closed because it had major technical difficulties and the city wouldn’t let them run both because it would cause entire city power outages

Same, they do need another wooden coaster in my opinion. That was a classic.
Could be worse....like Dorney (Hydra was the last new roller-coaster for them: 2005)
We had Stinger... for a little bit.
@@noisetank15 Stinger still counted a used coaster. It's a shame it broke down often. Rumor is Kanonen is to take its place.
I agree, but to me, the situation at great adventure is worse because of SFGAdv's popularity and success. I like dorney a lot, but great adventure is essentially the crown jewel of the six flags company, so it being ignored is sorta worse than dorney being ignored by cedar fair
Dorney's focus is the water park, but it would be nice to see at least a new small scale project.
Sixflags St. Louis is also in the dumps bad. Our last coaster was a boring recycled Boomerang and that was nearly 7 years ago.

The jersey devil is gonna save this park
If Six Flags didn't face financial woes, the park would've been the next Cedar Point with a hotel, giga coaster, winged flyer, etc. There were plans proposed in 2006 for a hotel next to Kingda Ka and Green Lantern, but the proposal was shelved. Budget cuts soon followed.
If it is the second most attended Six Flags park, there isn't really a need to add a bunch of new stuff since it already gets so much traffic.
Michael Mills It used to be the most attended. Then the company decided that Magic Mountain needed all of the roller coasters while Great Adventure got attractions that are better suited for smaller parks.

@@Coolsomeone234 true, but it's six flag's fault for not maintaining it well
I'm glad someone called it!
2015- El diablo (ok this was trash)
2016- Joker, second installment of the 4D freespin which offers a very fun ride.
Is Wonder Woman bigger than Harley Quinn in SFNE?
Riding Justice League when it's not in synch is truly disappointing.
Good video. BUT you forgot about the closure of Batman and Robin in 2007.
My favorite ride...
And the demolition of Rolling Thunder in 2013. Never went back to the park after that.
That’s what really pissed me off. Some of my friends and I make fun of Great Adventure for demolishing Rolling Thunder in the form of memes.
Edit: I’m actually going to Great Adventure in less than a week, and I’m actually going to place a protest sign near where El Diablo was!
Yea, that could have been so cool
I would have preferred them to keep free fall and lightning loops. Get rid of Batman that ride blows
7:50 "......and you bring in a phuckin circle!" LMAO!!!! I woulda been pissed!!!!
Since 2013 Magic Mountain (the most popular park) has got full throttle, twisted colossus, and west coast racers. We aint got shit.
Dusey Who's we? Which park?
When I did work there, there were four possible rumors:
A Premier Rides Multi launch
An S&S multilaunch
A B&M Dive Machine
A Mack multilaunch
Honestly, the one that makes the most sense is a Premier Rides multilaunch with an almost 200 ft vertical loop.
GP423 I really hope so cause I love this park and live near it
The entire park needs quite a bit of treatment from HQ.
The associates in the park had a nickname for Rolling Thunder. They called it Rotting Lumber
Six Flags Wild Safari. I had a fucking elephant stick its trunk into our SUV once back in 2002-03. That is the best fucking thing of all time.
Haven't been to the park in years, but I do remember back in like 2007 they had a pendulum. Did they rip that one out for Wonder Woman?
im pretty sure yea
2002 it was.
Cedar Fair already has a long list of parks that aren't getting the attention they need. But at least the park would be run better I guess.
You’re kidding right? Cedar Point gets all the good rides while the rest of them are just left to hang.
No offense, but you must not have been to Dorney Park lately!

@@ryanmai7888 It's not, but it IS a lesser tier park nonetheless.
Well, I went to Great Adventure last August, and the fire and mist effects were still working

The whole Batman section is lacking...
yeah the ride still works, i think something with the wind? idk, it has no floor on the car, so maybe it was weather? they do that sometimes
Batman vs. Catwoman was the shit.
Thank you for helping me realise how wack great adventures has really gotten over the years.
No wonder I've been dying to visit other amusement parks for the past 7 years!
Wow, how entitled can you be. Six Flags St. Louis is my home park and I'd be happy to have HALF as good rides as G Adv does.
JD Gaff the park actually has a nice layout
JD Gaff Try Magic Mountain. That park used to be thriving with vegetation......now.......its LITERALLY a concrete sweat box!!!!
Nah its actually kinda pretty from the drop of doom and the other higher attractions
I'm from the Philly area roughly 50 minutes away and I always felt the theming and atmosphere was weak. The layout is fairly accessible on foot and handles big crowds, at least. Hersheypark and Morey's Piers have it beat scenery wise easily.
it's new jersey
ValleyFair hasn't gotten a coaster since 2007...
Them and Dorney need a coaster so damn bad
@@Extremethrills Michigan's Adventure has basically gone untouched for 20 years.
Worlds of Fun...
The smaller parks get what they get because of poor revenue/ebitda. The ROI is not likely there to justify a big investment.
Yeah, it’s because valleyfair is in Minnesota. Which is in the middle of no where.
4:37 believe me, we wanted to keep Chang at KY Kingdom 😢 we all loved it and it was our flagship ride before Six Flags abandoned our park.
If it makes you feel better Cedar Fair gave Worlds of Fun a new restaurant this year. Woot
thank you, at least some one besides me noticed I've had season passes to six flags since I was 2 in 2004 and I cant remember the last time I was exited for a new ride there I hope the six flags front office sees this bc I need a new coaster plz six flags
By no means does it justify the lack of a coaster, but I see where they would want to take the route they did
Hey Attraction Ideas.... My park is Six Flags America in Maryland..... You have NOTHING to complain about! It's been 19 years since we got a coaster!
Oh don't get me started on Six Flags America lol. No offense but that is litterly the worst Six Flags Park I have been to lol
@@AttractionSpot La ronde: hold my beer

@@johnb6596 You're right. I dont know why i commented that. I think I was in a bad mood

I would think great adventure would get great additions. I know six Flags neglects there small pros
Park
Six flags over Georgia hasn’t gotten a new roller coaster since Goliath was open. They did open battle for metropolis and rethemed the cyclone, but the park hasn’t had any new coasters in so long it’s sad
Six Flags just pampers Great America. It’s gotten like a new roller coaster every year for eight years. Like I love em all but why?
Joshawott200 And I'd think that MOST of the love would be going to their very first park, Six Flags Over Texas.
Magic mountain too
Loving it since i live so closeee
You also liked Viper and The Chiller? Those two were my favorites.
green lantern was terrible IT HURT SO MUCH AND FELT LIKE IT WAS LASTING SO LONG
In 2020 they finally got a new original coaster
The park as a whole needs an entire renovation. Desperately. But in typical Six Flags fashion, it will probably go under before it ever sees change.
😂 you have a 450 foot coaster the worlds best wooden coaster, a 400 foot drop tower, 4 B&Ms and your screwed over? Boy your spoiled
Lmao exactly!! The rides are amazing and should be GREATLY appreciated!
Actually 5 B&Ms
hey, former ride ops (2010) and photographer (2011-2014), just wanted give you guys some insight on the occupational level as to why theyre doing what theyre doing:
so from 2011 onward, theyve been hammering down a lot on getting season passes, food passes, etc. theyre supposed to give you extra benefits, but it's really to get you to come back (I guess if you visit more often, you're more likely to buy expensive stuff?).
I think you need to stop complaining... SFGAdv has one of the best line ups around.
yea, and it hasn't changed in a million years. It gets repetitive, especially for regulars.
Not getting your favorite shiny new coaster of choice every year is a LAUGHABLE complaint.
No complaining about no new original ride that the largest park in world needs shouldn’t take 14 years (2020 will be the year probably and that’s 14 years after 2006)
rashamon3
It’s been 14 years since the last major investment.
That's PLENTY of new original attractions for the park, including MULTIPLE new roller coasters. irdgi :/
TheEpic22 Magic Mountain gets a coaster almost every damn year because it's part of a major market that attracts people from all over the world, HOLLYWOOD, THE ENTERTAINMENT MECCA OF THE WORLD, besides having to compete with five other noteworthy theme parks in the Southern California market, *WHICH INCLUDES, OF ALL OTHER THEME PARKS, DISNEYLAND, WHICH IS SOON TO DRAW IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD WITH THE OPENING OF STAR WARS LAND!!!*
SO YEAH, MAGIC MOUNTAIN PLAYS A PART, A *MAAAAJOR* PART ON ATTRACTING, NOT ONLY TOURIST FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHEN IT COMES TO THRILLS, BUT ALSO FROM AN ALREADY LARGE MARKET OF L.A.(which also includes all of the surrounding areas of Orange County, The I.E., Vegas, Arizona, Northern Cali, and by extension, the Great Northwest), as a counterpart for thrills, to those other parks.
IN simpler terms: *THE HIGER THE REVENUE, THE HIGHER THE CHANCES OF THE PARK RECIEVING A MAJOR INVESTMENT!!*

This is the second biggest park in the chain and it’s been overlooked for years.
hi as a ex rides operator for sfga i can give you so facts about my old home park first thing is the hyper loop is not staying it will get replaced its only a "place holder" alot of the rides got a repaint in 2018-2019 rolling thunder was the last old wood dueling coaster on the east coast the oldest rides in the park that are still up is the mine train, skull mountain, most of loony toon seaport, the big wheel,sky-way,daredevil drop, marry go round ,saw mill log flume, and Congo rapids i believe is still running o all so batman the ride is hunted lol
as soon as you got to great american scream machine and said "if you're replacing it, it better be something good" i literally went 😬
my family (who are big great adventure fans and go all the time) has a mantra when it comes to the park, which is "if green lantern is busy you know it's bad" because of how it's almost always abandoned otherwise because it's so universally hated lol
When do u guys think St. Louis will get a coaster (if ever)?

I live by great adventure so I go all the time and the fire and smoke works on Bizarro.
Should’ve given rolling thunder the rmc tritment
That would’ve been cool
yea they should've kept that ride like sfog did with georgia cyclone so that it would get the rmc treatment
RMC had only just started back in 2012... they were very unknown back then.
