    Also "Pale into insignificance" is an idiom. When comparing two things we could say that the benefits/drawbacks of sth pale into insignificance when compared to another thing.

      Cristian Alexander Chiroque Chero Yes, quite right. It comes from the verb ‘to pale’ (not to be confused with the old wooden fence stick). Also ‘to be ‘pale’ around the gills’ is another good idiom, with of course a different meaning 😜

      Hi Allan, I edited them myself and I cannot for the life of me remember where I got them from. There should be lots of material out there if you just search for it on the internet. Good luck!

    Could you suggest us a good dictionary for C2 class?

    • @EnglishClass4
      @EnglishClass4  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Well, there are two I like. One being WordReference as it searches for you word across all dictionaries and the second being Cambridge as it also gives great context and classifies the level of the word/ phrase, for example “wear somebody out - C2”. Hope this helps!

    I need to learn much about part 7 reading C1 😭

    • @juanmanuelchavezgarza

      Hi. What you need on part 7 is a good strategy. You have to find words that "link" the two paragraphs before and after each gap. To do this, you have to read the sentences before and after each gap in order to choose the correct option. For example, if one of the options includes the word "this", then it is obvious that it is making reference to something that was mentioned before, which is singular or uncountable. That can help you decide whether you are choosing the correct option. Also, if you see the same word right after one of the gaps, then you would have to find the option that includes something that was then made reference to using "this". Be on the alert for words that express contrast, whether on the paragraphs or on the options, because then it would be easier to match the information to the contrasting ideas. Finally, make sure you leave enough time to read all the text with the options once you have finished to make sure it all make sense. You have about 15 minutes to complete each reading section, so make sure you keep an eye on the clock in order not to run out of time. Good luck.
