If you find any beacons on your journey, click on them for exploration exp! Some of them can be tricky to find, so good luck collecting them all! Also if you decide to keep the scoreboard hidden, to check your levels you can go to inventory and click the three colored bars at top right, and all the skills will be shown horizontally in alphabetical order; which could take some getting used to since skills are normally shown vertically, but minecraft doesnt really support large quantities of rows without things going off the screen

Waterfall quest has one of the best rewards to kickstart combat, but it makes you travel to the other side of the map plus youll probably need a guide for it :P, you're right especially Dragon Slayer requires tons of defence levels youd have to grind for. Many early quests are helpful and even required to access some of the skills such as Herblore, but worth doing all working towards that quest cape, best of luck!
