Pre covid there used to be a bus route (28 / 28A ) from Whiteley to Fareham once in 2 hours or so. They even had a 1 pound bus (W1) from Whiteley to Fareham on weekends. Shame they stopped it. Not sure whether they have restarted it since I have moved out.
Good question. Whitely is quite self contained. The shops mainly serve the local residents. As an outsider I rarely visit. I guess whitely fits in nicely with the modern idea of a 15 minute town or city.

Yeah as a resident of Whiteley the only buses tend to be for schools
Spell it correctly its WHITELEY
Also the train is so annoying
