Thank you for mentioning lead testing. Too many restoration videos don't even address it. That being said, I would suggest that in the future, do the last bit of paint removal with a brush in a bucket to contain the remaining lead paint. And make sure that brush is only used for lead paint removal to avoid cross contamination. You do beautiful work!
Ahh Mr Patina, I love your videos so much. You are a magician on that lathe! Your restorations are so clean and precise and the items look better than they probably did on the original shop floor. This one is no exception! Fantastic job.🤗🇦🇺
Coffee and patina.....breakfast of champions.....I remember working on slicers in commercial kitchens just looking at those blades would cause a cut they were like scalpels.
@@toasterblep1643 I did that. It turns out to be nothing physical. According to my psychiatrist, it has to do with a compulsive fixation on perfection and beauty. When I see that somewhere, my heart seems to skip a beat.
Fantastic restoration job you did on that meat slicer. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. I like how you heated up the steel shafts and quenched them in oil for food safety, and that you put olive oil on the blade for a food safe surface. Excellent work.
Nice video, thank you. It's good to see that you are investing into new tools and equipment. I really wish you to be able to support yourself from doing this, as you obviously love it.
I really love all your work! Would melting some solid beeswax between the metal mounts, housings, etc keep meat juice & bits from getting trapped under them be a good idea? I would put it around the mounting bolts & nuts to keep meat juice from getting in there - but I am a novice. Thanks for the beautiful restoration ☺
I didnt plate it on purpose - nickel plating could crisp off and get into the food. Furthermore the blade is made from carbon (tool) steel, which makes it super hard and rustproof. All the rust you could see was just rust bloom
@@misterpatina Thanks for the info: I didn’t know any of that!! Some of our graters and slicers are plated with something, but didn’t know what. Maybe chromium. Love your work.
Well, I was hoping for one more brass sleeve or bushing - just kidding! That was an amazing restoration. I do think the device should be called the "H.260 finger remover" - looks a bit frightening to use, but at least the blade isn't turning super fast! Great video! 👍
As always another fantastic restoration, good job Mr. P...!!. You mentioned Lead Paint on the slicer, LOL that was a time way back when people were first introduced to 🎸🎵🎶 Heavy Metal.
Very nice work again! One tip however, reamers are ment to be used at very low speeds to get the maximum accuracy out of them. By turning them the speed you did in the video, you have a chance it will take away too much material.
Gotta say, the shirt is definitely a 10. 😂 Excellent restoration as usual, Mister P! Your wife has excellent colour sense and you're right, sometimes you really do just need a flammenwerfer... I also didn't realise brass is such a squeaky metal to work with. Does the noise of machining it ever bother you?
In my childhood my mother had a bread slicer which looked a lot like this. It was even almost the same color yours ended up being. It was a bit more advanced in that the distance plate could be moved by turning a wheel to control the thickness of the slice, and I think the bottom plate was metal rather than wood, but otherwise they look very similar. Of course the blade on hers was serrated, being meant for bread.
Very nicely done. I much prefer powder coating to paint. Brass bushings are not as durable as bronze, oil-lite bushings and sintered bronze bushings. The bronze is not that expensive and will last for many years. Good job 👍
That brass bushing on the inside of the big gear. Gorgeous work.
Thanks! Iam glad you like it!
Wholeheartedly agreed
Olive oil will go rancid eventually--mineral oil might be a better application for a food-safe lubrication in the final assembly.
Ballistol

Don't think I'd like chemically treated engine oil with my food. The handle was the only thing that did not touch the food.
Absolutely adored your brass inserts to repair bearings etc and the lathe work
Im glad you like it!
Ah, my favourite video codec, the h.260

Thank you so much LadyLeigh! :-)
Rust sure can form an impenetrable bond between wood and steel!
Nice color choice, Mrs. Patina.
What a beautiful restoration, Mr. P. Gorgeously filmed and edited. Thanks for bringing us into your shop and sharing with us.
❤️❤️❤️
Super nice glass beading. I love watching you using a hand file, so much quieter than a grinder.
Always like your work... thanks from Canada, I see the perfectionist in your work... you line up the screw slots .
Thank you so much Robert! Greets from Germany!
Mr.Patina,огромное спасибо,всегда смотрю Вас с большим удовольствием 💯👍

Thanks Len! You’re right about the sharpness…I can totally tell after this restoration 😅
I don't think i have seen anyone go to the level you go to!even restoring screws and washers is absolute dedication to your craft!

My heart always skips a beat when a new Mr. Patina video pops up in my feed.🤗
Im glad 🙂😅

Calm down simp. Ya sure it’s not the sausage that’s got you all twitterpated
The camera man is awesome 👍👍
This must be one of your finest restorations Mr P. I don't don't normally watch videos this long, I make an exception for yours.
Thank you so much Dave, I really appreciate!
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
thanks!
Really quite nice looking! The guide piece is not parallel with the blade so that's why the slices come out unevenly.
Gorgeous resto as usual!
Well done Mr.Patina, you're the only one !!!
🥳🥳
Very nice work !! I love the colors ...it looks fantastic with the bare wood and it cuts amazing !! Top notch work !! 👍👍
thanks Robert!
10/10 shirt! my granny has same tablecloth and i love it!
He's back ❤
Fantastic restoration!!
thanks!

Excellent restoration, as always, and an informative and amusing video.
Thank you, "Frau Patina", for your colour advice and for supervising him. ☺
Haha, thanks! I’ll tell her 😅
You are stepping up your game with every new episode, and this one was nothing short of perfection! Way to go Mister, I am seriously impressed!
Thank you so much Phil!
Beautiful finish Mr. Patina 👍👍👍. You never disappoint with your projects and standard of work dude 👏👏👏. Thanks for sharing 🙏😊. 😎

Sounds good. Maybe medical grade silicone gel. Otherwise, seepage, as you said.
Thats a really good idea! Ill keep that in mind!
Wood came out quite pretty, I’m impressed
thanks!
Einmal wieder ein super Video! Es macht so viel Freude, zuzuschauen! Vielen Dank! 👍👍👍
Danke Saskia! Freut mich dass es dir gefällt 🙂👍
beautifull job ,love your work
thanks!
10/10 shirt & 10/10 content!
Ah Mister Patina est rentré de vacances ! Belle video comme toujours, bravo.
Beautiful restoration.
Thanks!
Lovely. So much work on the blade! I keep hoping that someone will try nickel plating one sometime? Never used that.

You are a great restorer. Also, I liked the way you shared responsibility of choice of color. 😜. The choice was indeed good!

In only 4 more iterations this meat slicer became an advanced video compression standard.
Como siempre, muy bien.

Maybe just 1 more litre of linseed on the base, just to be sure!
Great vid as always. Colours are perfect!
Haha, thanks!
Exelente trabajo de restauración 👍
В случае нагрева звезды бронзовая втулка будет легче входить.👍
Wurst werfer! Gut gemacht 🙌
🤣🤣
The only thing I don't like about Mr. Patina's content is that there is not more of it. Great job love all you do.
Haha, thank you so much!

thanks!
YAY! NEW VIDEO! 😄😄😄
at first it looked more like a bread slicer to me than a meat slicer and I actually thought it had enamel instead of white paint great job (Y)
Thank you
10/10 on the shirt
"Crunchy Beauty"...love it 😂
😅

Verstanden, Chef :-)
Un poco gruesa las tajadas, la proxima vez pon la palma de la mano, para hacerlas mas parejas, muy buena reconstruccion, felicitaciones.
