This is insanity. To edit a video of this scale would normally take a week at least. But the amazing team managed to pull off this gargantuan edit in just two days! Big shout out to Marcus, David, Lucas and Ross for making it happen and delivering an almost 40 minute episode.
Special thanks to Yasu for finding out about this island and to Ozaki san (the owner) for letting us on to film! You can find his much more easily accessible campsite near Tokyo at the link here! www.masaruhills.com/

Thanks for this dude. I appreciate the content you put out. We need another wacky weekend with Connor 🥰
Natsuki forgetting to do the reveal is way funnier than actually doing the reveal :)
Agreed. I laughed a lot :D
"I CAN SPEAK ENGLISH"
"That's good :)"
this should not be as funny as it is
I love how Natsuki ruined the reveal in the most Natsuki way.
Natsuki is the embodiment of “never let them know your next move”
That's Natsuki's cleverness for you... knew exactly what he was doing...
Connor is the MVP of this episode, I totally get why he went home and just played Final Fantasy for 3 days straight after he did this 🫡
"Talking, cooking, FUCKING Santa Claus" goes in the Natsuki quote hall of fame.
along with "new age, new santa"
"Happy merry fucking Christmas! Im black Santa"
"happy fucken' merry christmas"
Three men on a desert island, talking, cooking, fucking. I think sharla needs to be a bit worried
"Feliz Natsukidad"
I laughed too hard when Natsuki said behind the mask "I can speak English" and Connor replied "That’s good" in Japanese 😂
Connor and Natsuki freezing while Chris stayed warm reminded me of when you slept over at a friend's house and they gave you nothing but the thinnest blanket lol
Ah, don't mind me taking this hand towel I found in the guest bathroom as a comforter... thanks...
@@BoneWoman206 Also, I made a bedspread from the pizza boxes we ate from earlier. cool that you saved those :/
Why is no big youtuber in existence immune to doing stupid life dangerous things all in the name of content.
@@fakelove1532 Yeah, Chris really comes across as quite selfish in this episode
@@inspiteofshame Chris typically plays it up for content, but this episode is 😬 ngl
Having camped and organised camps for a good 20 years of my life I can totally empathise with Connors reaction to the camping provisions
Chris: *talks about how he enjoyed the day and is really looking forward to camp on the island*
Connor and Natsuki: *slaving away, trying to make the island semi-inhabitable*
casually abusing Connor's people pleasing behaviour lol
on Chris's podcast he says he did help out alot and just made himself seem lazy in the video for effect@@elijahlopez7071

Chris is kinda giving me the villain vibes in this adventure. 😂
Chris is 99% of the time the one with the villain vibes 😂
I love how Ryotaro's immediate reaction to the kei car is "what the fuck is this?"
but then Connor's immediate reaction is "yo this is mad fancy."
Do you mean Natsuki?
@@wordyballoons both Natsuki and Ryotaro had that reaction.

I think this episode made it clear who (out of the three) you would want to be trapped on a deserted island with... Connor hands down.
Connor was the best of the group and he had 0 handwarmers, poor guy
What's surprising is they only built a fire and some tents. No terraforming at all (small things like dunes around the tent to protect from the wind, trenches in case the water rose and of course set the tent nails in wood then burry them deep it in the sand to avoid drifting in a worse case scenario)
@@lowkey276This is not suprising since they are no experts when it comes to camping. Although Connor obviously has the most knowledge.
Anyone but Chris. Did none of the work, complained the most and used most of the provisions LOL.
@@lowkey276 They’re guests on a privately-owned island I doubt the owner would appreciate them tearing up the landscape for your imaginary weather problems 🤦
I thought we wouldn't see Natsuki again till the end of the trip, this is a pleasant surprise!
Agreed 😂❤ I was shocked too
I love that Natsuki's life got made more exciting from all these adventures and Chris's and our lives got made more exciting by Natsuki simply existing
Everyone needs a friend like Natski
bro you literally saw his name spelled right in the comment you were replying to. @@carsoncarolina2358
I liked this comment, and it was the 420th like xD But yes, I totally agree. It's so lovely seeing them all enjoy their adventures!
And to think it all started by meeting him randomly walking home and asking a stranger for a drink.
I love the way he talks
Natsuki's truly a poet of the modern era.
Or Santa
Natuski is a great humor and good straight joke is literally funny to watch xd a
his "British Shit Man" from the other day still keeps me awake at night :D
It legit takes only one night camping unprepared to forever learn that you can't be unprepared to camp. The cold is a great teacher.
I was honestly expecting Natsuki to make a surprisingly introspective haiku entirely in Japanese just to surprise us all but no. It's better. It's... it's magical. It's a perfect descriptor of the situation you're all in. The setting. The situation. The grim conclusion to it all that once again plays with death, as so many death poems during the Sengoku Era went. And it doesn't even follow the 5-7-5 rule, paralleling Natsuki's rebellious nature in the face of almost certain destruction. It's perfect. It's got my vote.
"Island,
No toilet
No life"
- Natsuki-dono, a modern poet monk and Black Santa himself, c. 2023.
When written out in katakana it does follow the correct 5-7-5 "on" rule.
@@chokladKuchen yes indeed, it goes アイランド/ノートイレット/ノーライフ
The utter look of surprise and then disappointment from Connor when he finds out he’s going camping but doesn’t have his gear 😂
So next I want a Journey Across Japan: The Great Outdoors. 21 days of camping in the coolest places in Japan.
I think you meant "coldest places in Japan"
This is an EXCELLENT idea!
Coolest place literally or figuratively?
As someone who camps with some regularity, I find it incredibly stressful to watch a bunch of non-campers try to do anything.
Connor camps so he knows what he is doing
Glad that I wasn't the only one who was super anxious watching this and listening to Chris and Connor almost die of Hyperthemia
@@SPOOKS125 Still, there's only so much experience helps when cold weather camping if you have the wrong gear.
Journey Across Japan: Non-Stop Viewer Anxiety
Connors horror at the lack of camping planning from a man who does not go camping - hilarious but also, I feel his pain. The correct gear makes or breaks any wilderness experience 😂
i think the reason these companies give people like abroad in japan free access to sites like this island is because he puts japan and its tourist areas in a good light. better than the other western vloggers that have plagued japan recently.
Chris really owes Connor a 5 star hotel wacky weekend after this. Genuinely unsafe to do this while being so ill prepared.
That's and Japanese Love Hotel reviews part.....4 or 5 I think? *I know they have done 3 and then there's the Jurassic Park Themed Love Hotel* 😅
I've learned to never underestimate the cold.
I would totally understand if Connor brings a huge backpack full of survival gear whenever Chris invites him along for anything in the future after this.
Personally I would’ve gone with the following haiku:
“TALKING with the boys,
COOKING in Matsushima,
FUCKING up the food.”
I hope I would make Natsuki proud.
You win the haiku writing competition.
You're amazing. ♥
"CHRIS out of his depth,
NATSUKI masked but friend

Albeit, I like yours better. 😅
Sorry couldn't resist, had to do an haiku, everyones souns good.
Conner so confused,
Chris laugh crys,
Natsuki bad black santa.
@@dreamingofpemberly Well, it's not Haiku, but I still liked it regardless. (✿ ♡‿♡)
Hats off to Connor, the youngest, for being the mom of the group. 😆 Also, that island would be a great spot for summer camping! Hope Ozaki-san keeps it because he allows people to experience it too. Can't say if the next owner would do the same.
You guys really have to get legit winter camping gear. This could really get dangerous.
It also would have been better to share a tent.
I swear Connor is going to pack some of those mylar emergency blankets in his bag from here on out. And some thermal long John's. And extra socks. (You really should never keep wet socks on, especially overnight, especially especially if it's cold)
Almost 40 minutes of Journey Across Japan!? You know how to greet an audience as they finish a day at work!
Connor has moved up the apocalypse survival list. Chris has dropped to "first one's gone" level
This episode gave me anxiety as someone who lives in the north and we have many minus degrees in winter... sleeping outside without proper gear can be dangerous. You can get frostbite easily if exposed long and without proper clothing etc. :( Good thing that everything seemed to go alright though...
For those that don't know, those hand warmers are a metallic powder that reacts exothermically with the air, typically the reaction is iron dust reacting with oxygen forming iron oxide... or what we know is rust. Powdered iron, and the subsequent rust powder can actually escape these pouches, is both a skin irritant, and also a poison that can damage your liver, respiratory system and can stimulate your blood flow in erratic ways. While having them in your pockets for your hands to absorb the warmth will only lead to minor irritation is a minor side effect that is naturally more desirable than cold hands and you should properly wash your hands before touching your face or food, enclosing yourself with 30 packs of them can lead to you inhaling or ingesting the dust that escapes these packages damaging your lungs, heart and liver and is not advisable... also probably not an ideal choice to rub your face with them.
I recommend that an editor, or the man himself, put a disclaimer on the video advising against this plan to stay warm.
10 years and Chris FINALLY went proper camping. I'm honestly impressed. Never thought it would happen
This was not proper camping. hah. But it was closer than previous attempts I suppose.
It could’ve been a good camping had he brought the proper equipment. Inadequate equipment makes I don’t want to go camping ever again and goves bad memories :(
This seems like an elaborate plan by the owner to get the beach cleaned up
Advertising,that's just a bonus
That was particularly confusing because the OTHER guy looked like Natsuki with a wig on.
I hope Ozaki san turns it into a resort. He can double the size with over-the-water bungalows like in Bora Bora. Could do kayaking, fishing or a meditation retreat. Good luck to him, I hope it turns out awesome.
Heard about your excitement for this episode in your podcast this morning. Excitedly watching now :D
War Thunder moment
Camping with Natsuki and Conor, this has insane chaos written all over it and I am totally here for it!
While I very much appreciate “a rip in my soul” and Natsuki’s native speaker interpretation of the medium, I think Connor takes this one
This just goes to show that Conner would be the best person for a survival situation
I love it when chris speaks japenese to locals, wish we saw more of it. Enjoyed the interview of ozaki-san. Great vid 👌🏻
Now i want a video with only Conner and Natsuki where Conner speaks only japanese and Natsuki only english.
The editors deserve a raise.
I'm so glad that this was only for a one night stay and they got super lucky with the tides.
As someone who grew up camping in the wild with this big tents you gotta share them with as many ppl as fit otherwise it’s gonna be cold as hell
Exactly, they missed an opportunity to cuddle up! Hahaha
I was thinking that too, was surprised they didn't go two by two to keep warm, there's definitely enough space for two in each of those tents
Connor taking care of his two friends is hilarious, great vid Chris.
Natsuki coming out of the tent as black santa was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
I love Natsukis straight delivered jokes so much sometimes. Chris thinks hes making a good and funny although simple joke and then Natsuki just comes in with the purest and simplest driest delivery to finish him off.
Can't help but appreciate Natsuki revealing the camping agenda:
1. Talking :)
2. Cooking :D
3. Fucking D:
This episode definitely lived up to the hype, outstanding, just shenanigans all around between 3 idiots and Island. Ties in funnily enough very well with my favourite Trash Taste episode where they talked about their camping trip that seemed to have gone similar direction, bet Connor had some flashbacks to it. Great episode, good job Chris and the Crew!
I really hope this was a thorough learning experience for Chris.
Lesson notes:
1. You cannot enjoy camping without preparing and acquiring appropriate gear.
2. Camping by a body of water makes for an especially cold night.
3. You can never fully trust someone else to supply all the gear you need to be comfortable and enjoy the experience.
4. Surprise camping is usually not fun, it's survival.
5. The more insulation between you and the cold ground, the better.
6. Removing your outer layers of clothes helps you sleep.
7. Tents primarily provide a barrier against wind and rain, while blankets, tarps, air pockets, and cushions provide barriers against heat loss or gain.
8. Biodegradable wet wipes can make any trip more comfortable and hygienic.
Bonus:
1. Hot soups, stews, and drinks tend to help people going to and getting out of cold sleeping arrangements.
2. Being a stanky, Kentucky fried man-child is a bit disgusting and makes people not want to share an onsen with you. So, grow TF up and use the bidet.
I kept feeling something was off as I watched this and realized Chris has entered his villain arc.
What an enormous editing effort! I applaud all of the editing team to be able to pull this off so quickly!
27:16 Probably my favorite bit of entire video Connor changing his expression to make Natsuki happy :D
for reals man...
Man got roped into a ill-prepared camping trip that he clearly wasn't enjoying because he had to do most of the work, and still remembered to smile for the camera and to make Natuski happy. Big props.
Chris loves giving Connor the easy things for videos, how nice of Chris to give Connor a 2 stars camping experience 🥰
Guys your production directing and editing is top notch, keep up the great work but don't die in the process 😅
He should definitely keep the island, Chris. Build some kind of house with big glass-fronted views out to sea and a nice curving path to the beach area. Add a cooking space on the beach and seating, maybe carve some seating out of the rock as well. Turn the cave into a mediation/lounging space with a platform that maybe goes out onto the water a little way. I think it would be really popular in the summer for rental, if done well. It could be good all year round as it wouldn't be much different to staying on Skye or some other island in Scotland in the winter. Just a question of getting the right building work done. Thanks for sharing. Really beautiful!
What do you mean he should keep the Island? He doesn't own it in the first place. Also it would be insanely expensive to build your suggested idea on an remote Island like this. We are talking about millions. Overall a pretty bad idea for someone operating a TH-cam channel. 😂

25:44 connor was NOT pleased lol
If i was connor i probably would have asked where the next outdoor store store is to buy an actual good sleepingbag
He was driving, he probably could have put his foot down about the gear
@@ffwast I doubt the timetable was up for that. He was in a shitty position. You can't fuck over a whole production day, when it is already going on. That would mean money loss.
I can not articulate how much i enjoy your channel. Im very excited to watch this, keep doing what you do.
Ngl I was anxious at the beginning of the video, props to Connor for doing most of the job and keeping Chris alive so we can get the next episode 😅
Anytime Connor and Chris are together you know some shit is gonna happen lmao
That plus Natsuki equals the end of the world 😂 😂 😂 😂
Connors problem in this episode was that shit didn't happen.
If he kept the island, carved some stairs into the rock, and cleared some flat land for a gazebo and room for tents and put down a camp grill, it would be a really awesome spot, especially with the lights that are there.
CHRIS, I hope you’re recording some footage of you driving through the country ride because a timelapse or two would be pretty nice to watch and great to have on the background while doing other things. Just an idea. It would fill in the blanks of the journey so to speak.
Connor should take Chris on his style of camping for a wacky weekend for sure
So, this is basically just another wacky weekend. But this time with natsuki with them. Love it
The man who owned the island was such a sweety haha sitting thru your silliness unfazed (mostly from not understanding English im guessing😅) what a kind man haha you guys are crazy! Please be more prepared for events like these! Your guys' safety is not worth such dangers! I hope you got to enjoy it regardless, but id also hope that one day you do it proper and enjoy it entirely ya know! 😊 Blessings to you all, love to your whole crew, and cant wait for the next episode 😎✨
Of course in Connor's segment he's dragged into the wilderness to suffer.
Only 240k to own a parcel of land Chris, Connor, and Natsuki pooped directly on? That's a steal.
I think the real survival was spending 24 hours with Connor
Yes
He survived stepping into Ryotaro’s house. Chris Broad is John Wick
Don't think anyone would have survived if it wasn't for Connor to be honest 😆
Imagine the horror of surviving with a man who can't clean his ass without a bidet
Or rather natsuki and Connor on a small island
I watched a video recently about how much Japan genuinly loves Chris Broad. Well done sir, you're really doing work to bridge the cultural gap in easy to digest videos that are both entertaining and educational (to a degree)
i was half expecting chris to bee like clarkson and soon after the boy start to go to sleep he leaves on a boat for the fanciest hotel
This really did feel like a top gear special because it did have a genuine degree of danger to it haha but I absolutely loved this episode, it made the journey feel like a proper adventure

What a beautiful little island. I think it would make a great place to rent for families or groups of friends for camping trips. You could clear a small space at the top for glamping huts in summer and have the beach for winter camping as there is more shelter from the wind.I would definitely go as it is such a unique camping spot.
I want an Abroad in Japan RPG with these 3 as the main party
One thing I love that you hadn't done in a while is reading negative and hate comments. Your sarcastic humor makes me laugh so much. I've always loved your content what ever you post and I'm glad I stumbled to your channel all those years ago
Ngl this one was kinda sad for me as i felt really bad for my man Connor. I probably have a very little idea how hard it is to make everyhing up and running but it felt like they abandoned him for real and man does it feel terrible
Props to your editors for pumping out so many quality videos in short succession. We are getting spoiled and it’s going to be hard to return to your old regular schedule
I love how flattering Chris makes himself appear. Doing none of the work while eating snacks.
Omg I love Matsushima! Went there this summer, and it was the best place of my month long trip. Whilst the place was small, and there weren't many shops and restaurants, the amazing scenary and the lovely people really made up for it. But I will agree, it is best experienced in the summer heat ;)
Just checked out the Masaru Hills website- it looks like an ideal location for glamping during the summer. Adding this to my list of things to consider for next year’s trip to Japan! Thank you 🇯🇵🥰👍🏼💝
At first I wondered why Chris needed several vans of editors for the trip. It was to give us NONSTOP content
pretty amazing, chris!! i think it could have been amazing if cdawg got into that meditation cave & vocalized an “ohm” or two! pretty sure the vocal resonance would have been mind blowing. no slight to your lovely voice or natsuki’s either. 🙃🗣⛰
This is what its all about. Chilling with the lads on an uninhabited island. Love it!
So much hype for this episode! Loving this new JAJ so far!❤
This spot would be super cool to camp in! If they added a little landscaping to have more flat spots for tents and maybe something like a small dock for the boat and for swimming it would be perfect. If tourists/less seasoned campers are going to be using it, trash cans and a latrine would probably be required so they don't make a mess of things.
I was so pleasantly surprised to see Natsuki again and it was extra comical when he didn't do his reveal to Connor on the boat.
Growing up in Northern Ontario 🇨🇦, I've seen many people build camps on islands and out of the way places; I'd love to spend some time here, camping. In fact, I'd be quite happy living there provided I had the funds to buy the island and build a not-so-tiny house there. It's absolutely stunning: I haven't seen stars in the sky for so long due to light pollution.
Black Santa, you were hilarious. 🤪
Connor was a slave and deserves some type of reward. 🏆 Chris gets off because he ripped his favourite 👖
The rest of the crew deserve a nice meal and a few drinks.
I can't say how much I enjoy JAJ. I didn't think it was possible to get any better, but it does. Chris, I really think doing a film like you want should be your next priority, after Sharla that is. 😉 You're bloody good at it.
I won't say whose haiku I thought was best. 🤐😶🌫️
I edited this for brevity something I'm not known for lol.
Is Ozaki san married? Asking for someone 😂
Ozaki has a very heart warming smile. A child like charm to it. Handsome man. I'm married and not attracted but I know handsome when I see it. lol
Glad you guys are alright! Love camping, but cold-weather camping without prep or gear can be pretty dangerous
This has the same energy as Clarkson, Hammond, and May on a Top Gear/Grand Tour special, minus the pranks and expensive cars.
Thanks! Anytime a creator goes outside their comfort zone i'll say thanks!
Arigatou Ozaki San! Thank you for letting these guys stay on your island. It was beautiful!
I didn't expect a vid on this channel to make me surprisingly furious lmao the complete lack of plan by Chris and dangers included with novice camping in this way are extraordinary hahahaha glad you all survived
At the end when Chris gives the owner of the island a giant lollipop and in the next cut it’s him just holding it and smiling at the camera, so wholesome 😂
Connor the GOAT for saving Chris and Natuski from freezing to death , building tents starting a fire 😅 they should have treated him better by providing him more heat packs and sleeping bags
The fact he makes natsuki’s translation British kills me ‘are you daft’ 😂
You guys are like my spirit animals. I live in Yokosuka, these adventures look like so much fun.
This is crazy and awesome at the same time!
one of my childhood dreams was to camp on an island too (with proper preparation of course 😅 )
