Also the variety of different emotions that surround each character which Anderson is able to keep complete focus on throughout the epic runtime. Truly brilliant film, fills its audience with empathy
One of my favorite films. The prologue of Magnolia is one of the greatest opening sequences of all-time. Also, Donnie Smith's quote when he says "I have lots of love to give... I just don't know where to put it" is one of the best lines PTA has ever written, and it describes the theme of the film perfectly. 😢😢😢
@Max Scholl The Sixth Sense, The Green Mile, Being John Malkovich, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Mummy, Boys Don't Cry, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Notting Hill, Girl Interrupted all of these classics.
Honestly, I prefer watching your videos instead of trailers, because your videos don't have spoilers and they really make me want to see a movie because of how stunning they are
I very recently watched this film for the third time (first time was in the cinema, second time was about two years ago). I thought it was great the first time I saw it but have now come to realise it may just be the greatest film I have ever seen. The writing, the direction, the acting... it's all just so... fucking... perfect. It's one of the best looking films I have ever seen (up there with There Will Be Blood, another PTA masterpiece) and the sheer scale and weight of the thing is just... staggering. Thank you, Paul Thomas Anderson!
Not many in my circle have seen or even heard about this film.. I like this film. The acting of each and every actor in the movie is wonderful and powerful. This is a must watch movie for every cinephile.
Feels like everyone who has been fortunate enough to see this movie deem it as one of the best ever. Watched it for the 12th time just 5 minutes ago, and I'm as amazed as I was the first time.
What do you make of the raining frogs part as that was kind of bewildering? But given you’ve watched it so many times maybe you have an accurate interpretation? I know it was in the bible but how do you relate it to the story shown here by PTA?
@@playlistaccount I think its relatively well explained in the movie by the narrator. "But it did happen" sort of ties it together. First time I watched it was shocked at the scene, and then when the narrator comes in I sort of realised that I had to go back and watch the opening narration again, and it made sense. Opening narration is all about events with extremely low chance and incredible circumstances and then it ends with "these things happen all the time". Rewatching that after seeing the end ties it all together. And that part about it being in the bible. Its verse 8:2 of some book and throughout the movie the numbers 8 and 2 appear together at different times. Added to this the concept of low/high chance of something happening is also foreshadowed by the weatherupdates. "Chance of rain" or whatever it says. If im not mistaken the last weatherupdate we get is 82% chance of rain which ofcourse ties the biblical concept together with the concept of chance. It's an extremely wellwritten movie and PTA most have had the idea of that scene before he started making the script.
He actually did do a Mr. Robot video a while ago but it got taken down in a lot of countries. I started watching that show a couple days ago so I wish I could see it now haha
Genius kid discovers how to stop the cycle by going to the library and realizing... "this is something that happens" and that his dad treating him badly is not his fault.
I studied this screenplay. PTA crafted an beautiful snapshop of one the best areas of the United States. The San Fernando valley. It’s has scars, but the people there are the most theatrical being this planet has produced. If I had my way, this would be the place I would reside.
The fact that Euphoria was able to take this style and create a unique experience out of contemporary adolescent living is incredibly amazing. This film needs more credit for that. You gotta do the beauty of Beau Travail next tho, because that is a beautiful film in itself
@@hawjtsim Celluloid or not is not the point. It would be so damn cool seeing PTA making a show like « Euphoria ». And, to my opinion, in celluloid, it would be much more beautiful... but no need to debate on that !
Here is another film that I missed. At the start, I would not have thought of him but by reading certain reviews here and there, I put him on my list which is called: "The films that you absolutely must see"!
Dr. S I think the movie is underrated in the sense that people forget its relevance and importance to cinema. More people should be talking about the movie today, more specifically the ensemble cast that Anderson created.

Intensity of emotion in this film is huge, unlike any other i've seen. One of the best of the 90s

Phantom thread
There will be blood
The master
I think there will be blood is the best but Magnolia is a good movie, too
@@pt9632 Boogie Nights is better instead of The Master
@Aritosthenes I respect your thinking.
There Will Be Blood & Magnolia are equally good. These 2 are easily the best.
