      Newer technologies and methods will always be applied in the construction of contemporary buildings; this is more about the aesthetics, composition, and visual language of buildings, which are things that classical architecture would benefit nothing from by adopting modern counterparts.

    This video really contains all the important points about classical architecture. It is good and important to have these things on TH-cam, so thank you for uploading!

    Thanks a lot, i start getting the hang of it. Great to see this working in context of different buildings.

    that sudden segue into complaining about online lectures and trying to wrangle responses out of students gave me flashbacks to my 2020 semesters...

    hi there, do you know if Robert Chitham based his proportions on Andrea Palladio's..?

    • @SebastianvonThaden
      @SebastianvonThaden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, he studied several historical examples for proportions. In his book "The Classical Orders of Architecture" he displays orders from Palladio, Vignola, Serlio and others - and he also designed his own "versions" of the classical orders based on those examples

      @@SebastianvonThaden do you have any advice (or template) on how to construct the "Raking Cornice"/"Crown Molding" (Doric Order)???
      it's almost the only thing that is missing now for me, to construct a whole house...
      the other thing(missing) has to do with the balustrade, do you think one can simply use a design of pedestals (made for columns) as the divider in a balustrade?
