I actually got an insane deal on a Wii once at my Church's rummage sale. I bought a GameCube backwards compatibility Wii, with all the manuals, two controllers, two nun chucks, with the silicon cases, and the Wii stand, *for $20*
A tb is way overkill 500 gb is pushing it, i have a 128gb and have all snes, nes, gba/gb, sega(all if them), mame, etc only complete systems i dont have is gc and wii and i only have my favs on it
I love your starter guides. You should add a disclaimer that these prices are as of the date of the video. It seems you were trying to keep under $16 per games, so my only suggestion might be Okami or Resident Evil 4.
I got a great deal on a Wii from my local Goodwill a few months back. It included a gamecube-compatible Wii, the power supply, av cable, a Wii remote (but was missing the battery cover), and a copy of Mario Kart Wii. I paid $10 for everything. I did buy a new sensor bar on eBay for $8 for it afterwards.
We gave ours away to my niece and nephew. They never played it. Im not even sure if they still have it. Now that im pretty much collecting game systems I wish I had kept it. After owning a switch I wanted to go back played games that I missed out on.
Great video for newcomers to Wii collecting, and its entertaining even for people who alresdy collect for the Wii (like me) just to see what the best way for a newcomer to the Wii is. I definitely think this is a great time to collect for the Wii, as i think in about 4-5 years it will probably start rising in price (look what happened with the GameCube), so thats why im focusing on collecting Wii games alot right now
You should set up the "ultimate" starter guide price for every console: no new products, keeping in budget, all players selections, best AAA games, must have accessories, etc.
I love these starter guides. I grew up on this console so I have most of these games, I just need to start getting some more games and such before it goes up in price.
This reminds me when I bought another wii and mario galaxy for $50 two years ago. And then I found a still sealed copy of mario galaxy 2 for $20 (nintendo selects version) in walmart a few months later, probably my favorite collecting find.
Quick tip: If you can't get a sensor bar, you can use a candle instead. There are videos of it online and its hilarious but it actually works, so thats a nice backup I guess
The sensor bar is just infered lights that the front of the wii remote reads to know where you are pointing the remote, you can easily get the remote working woth just 2 flash lights, the motion part is in the controller itself and not from the sensor bar. If you point a camera at the sensor bar while its on its possible to see the inferred lights
Ah, this one classic system... My dad got my mom this system for her birthday when I was about 7 years old. For the first year and a half of my family playing it every night, I didn't think much of it, but overtime, I ended up getting so addicted to great games like Wii Sports, both Super Mario Galaxy games, Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and especially Mario Kart Wii (which I played for at least 500 hours over the course of 3 years)! I'll never forget all the parties and hangout nights I had playing Wii games with friends and family, and I still find it REALLY FUNNY that (as a kid) I was jealous of them owning Nintendo handhelds system when THEY were jealous of ME owning a Wii system! XD So yeah, I think the Wii and GameCube are probably the EXACT reasons why I've grown to love Nintendo so much since I was younger! I feel really sad for those who've never owned a Wii console before, but I'm really hoping those that who still want one will GO FOR IT (just as I finally bought my very own Nintendo 64 system about 2 years ago)!
@@pkmnlover3812 So do I! Outside of playing TTYD at McDonald's, Super Paper Mario was the first Paper Mario game I'd ever played! It's actually my mom's favorite game on the Wii, and I personally consider it one of the most underrated titles on the Wii AND in the Paper Mario series!
United Games Aw, that’s so sad! 😔 You’d truly NEED one at a time like this! Get a Wii or a Switch whenever you can, because they’re totally worth the great years they’ve made in my life!

There’s so many great games that are under 10 dollars, at my local game store i got 4 games for 15 dollars. I got wii play, lego batman 2, some atv game, and some GT racing game. i have my wii from when i was 12 or something like that, n seeing yours so clean, mine is already missing everything (white vr) luckily i never lost my memory cards, from my gc
A good video, interesting prices for the games. I can still get some brand new sealed games from Amazon UK fairly cheap. for example Mario Galaxy is £26.49 thats ($32.00)
I think a lot of people have a different Definition of retro depending on when they were born. I don't consider the Wii retro yet, but I think GameCube is starting to become retro to me
I consider the Wii to be retro but not the Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 that came out around that same time, heres why: the Wii was the last major home console to not support HD, and because the Wii was not a technically powetful system (even though it was innovative for its motion controls), most Wii games look very simillar to GameCube games in my opinion making it look more retro, while the 360 & PS3 both support HD and are much more powerful, so they don't seem retro to me
Definitely should've included Gamecube controller, Memory card and awesome games like Eternal Darkness, Luigi's mansion, Zelda Windwaker and MGS Twin Snakes! Great guide btw! Cheers
Hey Lithium: I had an original White Wii. It stopped working though, because I used it too hard. I do have my Wii U though, and I can play my old Wii Games on that instead.
Got mine complete in box for 10$ canadian at a value village and found another a year earlier for 18$ canadian at a different value village (Canadian version of savers)
I was lucky enough to get a boxed wii at a local game store for $40 with Wii sports, a controller, nunchuck, and everything else you would’ve found in a launch wii
Sports and Sports Resort are the #1 and #3, respectively, selling games for the Wii. During the March/April shutdown they took off. Most retro collecting channels went on ad nauseam about this trend. The price is demand meeting supply. Since most copies of Sports were pack-in, you need to compensate someone for separating it from the system. The real secret is 2gb SD card, 32gb USB stick, Motion Plus Controller, and Nunchcuk. If you put your time in that is perfect for solo gaming. Beyond that I would add a Zapper or two, then another Motion and Nunchuck. Then finally in phase 3, 2 more controllers (type doesn't matter). Yeah... I have my Wii still but it’s basically worthless because of its lack of HDMI output. All those after market HDMI dongles are trash too. Let me know if there’s something I’m missing.
I played Donkey Kong Country Returns only on new 3DS XL, and it is a masterpiece, I prefer it to DK Tropical freeze, and I am a big fan of that franchise
Wii stuff is super cheap rn. Definitely gotta snap up all the games I want for my collection before everyone my age gets Wii nostalgia and it turns into a GameCube situation where the prices are utterly insane.
Saw one at my gaming store for like 10 bucks with a stand and cords 2 official classic controlers and Wii notes and mario galaxy and mario galaxy 2 for $1 more so I bought it and it works and player bouth games
Check what games you want for it. If they don't need the New 3ds get an original model. If you are going to the new one anyways don't worry. For games, if you are not a leftie I'd highly recomend Kid Icarus Uprising.
I've had my Wii for a couple years now and I'm surprised that most people have largely ignored it's library. Sure, it was considered a gimmick for its time but it still has plenty of quality titles that anybody can enjoy and get value out of. You just have to push past the immense amount of Hannah Montana shovelware it has lol. Also, the fact that it has light gun style Shooters like House of the Dead and Ghost Squad is a system seller in my opinion. One quick note on Zelda, I think the Wii version is cheaper because it doesn't support Gamecube or even classic controllers. Playing adventure games like Zelda with a Wiimote and a nunchuck is not really too great when other options let you play with a better controller. It probably wouldn't be an issue if it was like Mario Galaxy being exclusive to the Wii and you're only controller option is the Wiimote nunchuck combo. If it doesn't bother you then more power to you, but for everyone else you're better off with other versions.
Oof. So yeah, definitely the component cables, but not every TV has component anymore and composite looks like garbage. There are Wii HDMI adapters to directly pass the component signal to HDMI.
Nintendo Collecting yes do one for just the games (since the fact that not many wii u's sold they wont ever go down in price since they'll become a collectible for sure like the Virtual Boy, just give it a few years)
If you want a good deal then buy a Japanese version. There are plenty of full sets for 30 Bucks. Including all accessories. Then you can soft mod it and use the SD card to play all regions.

I actually don't think Metroid Prime 3 is a good fit for a starter guide for the same reason why yours is still sealed - you're going to want to start with the first game and while spending $50 on the trilogy doesn't fit into something like this it also isn't that bad of a deal if you really think about it. (edit - nevermind the prices on Metroid Prime Trilogy are silly right now) FWIW, the first games I bought on the Wii were Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports Resort, Sonic Colors, Resident Evil 4, and Sin and Punishment SS.
