- Val (Kevin Bacon), Earl (Fred Ward) & Rhonda (Finn Carter) come face-to-face with one of the Graboids & figure out the best way to stop them - concrete walls.
Tremors (1990): Valentine and Earl, two handymen staying in Perfection, Nevada, decide to leave the town but stumble upon the dead body of a friend. They find that strange underground creatures are killing people.

I'm still amazed with the practical effects they used for this film. I mean it's obviously much better that it was done in the 90s than the CGI they do these days
exactly the sixth movie's first few kills were so unbelievable, for some reason it goes slow-mo, but the worm headbutted him in real time and then the worm falls in slow-mo while he screams in real-time, the CGI ones made no sense, but 1-4 were great
This was filmed in 1989 so it's technically 1980s movie technology.
It's better than *bad* CGI, but not better than the hundreds or even thousands of hours of CGI that you have seen and never even noticed.
That creature looked real which is why this movie had such an impact. It’s hilarious how Bacon swears at the creature after he realizes it’s dead.
One of my favorites!

The very clever thing about this film is because these are creatures that nobody knew about at the time. And because they move fast underground and their body looks impenetrable. It almost makes it look like you can't stop a graboid. But at the point where the first one died it proved possible to kill them
If they bleed, they can kill it.
I love the close up, it shows the great amount of detail for a subterranean creature.
One of the big reasons this movie was so good was because it was produced by Gale Anne Hurd, who was married to James Cameron, and she produced _The Terminator_ and _Aliens_ and _The Abyss._
At first , this movie gave a funny impression, but man! This is one of the greatest movies I ever watched .🤠👍

But starship troopers had a lot of cgi. Anyway I understand, I m just sayong this movie had zero cgi on it, same Aliens and The Thing when it came to the creature.
Because Graboids are so big, if you want to kill one in one or two shots, you'd need guns designed for Elephants, Hippos, Water Buffalo, etc.
And guns that can shoot through dirt.

The 16'/50cal Mark 7 guns of the Iowa-class battleships loaded with high explosive make short work of creating a man-made Grand Canyon.
I love the writing and dialogue here. They act how real people talk and the humor is not cartoony like those classic b monster movies, though not hating on them, just it's more grounded in reality on how people would be funny in serious situations and this case weird ass situations. It's TOO GOOD!!!

I mean, after the events of Tremors 4 established that no one in Rejection told anyone about the Graboids, it's safe to assume that secret is now being seen by people in the modern age, hence Val, Earl and Rhonda believing this is the first time such a creature has been encountered when in reality the prequel says otherwise

Finn Carter was lovely, but can I just put in a shout on behalf of the older man for Reba McEntire?
I hope they reboot the franchise,and go back to the darker first movie,instead of making it corny like all the sequels.
